Brett Favre apparently is ready to call it quits for good.
According to a report on ESPN, Favre has instructed his agent, James "Bus" Cook, to tell the York Jets on Wednesday that he is retiring.
Favre, who announced his retirement in March 2008 only to un-retire four months later, sent an e-mail to an ESPN reporter indicating his intentions to end his career.

[/URL]The three-time MVP praised the organization and since-fired coach Eric Mangini, saying he had no regrets about finishing his career with the Jets after spending his entire career with the Green Bay Packers.
"I enjoyed playing for him," Favre wrote in the e-mail. "My time with the Jets was short, but I'm honored to be given that chance."

wow....he really screwed over the Jets..

they let go of Pennington to get this guy..Pennington goes out and performs at the (same) high level that he did this year, sticks it to them in the finale....that game ultimately finishes Mangini's career in New York and then Favre quits...and yes, quits is the right word...

now the Jets are stuck with Kellen Clemens back there and a bunch of high priced defensive and offensive free agents (Jenkins, FONECO) who were brought in to WIN NOW...

did he think he was going to win the SUper Bowl last year??? I really think the Jets could have been a threat this year with Favre....now, not so much

Colin Cowherd and Mort are on the radio now, going into another pointless admiration puff fest for Favre, talking about his greatness and all that. Mort of course has Brett in his top three qbs of all time. Why? Because he's won the most games and has the consecutive streak record *rolls eyes*.

Cowherd is railing about how Favre is the most likeable athlete out there, blah blah. And that he could play in any era because of his skill set. Blah, blah. And that qbs are rewarded for brains now and that #4 entered this 'new' era of football reluctantly, and how he could have played in the 70s with Bradshaw, blah, blah.

He did say Elway had a better skill set athletically. Well, duh.

And now he and Mort have concluded Culter is another Favre type. So one day when Jay has gray hair and fuzzy knees, he can advertise Jeans too. And drive an RV. And get a public hungry wife. And have a nutty family that does folksy and insane things.

Sex, the hoola hoop, sliced bread < favre

LOL, yeah that's like trying to get the tattoo of your exgirlfriend altered. Bet if you go look at that birth certificate, it's already been illegally changed to Breft.

Man,....... two first rounders for 22 TD's and 22 Int's.

Almost rivals our 1980 deal for Matt Robinson.

Huh? Two first rounders? Where did you get that.

Everything I've seen says they only owe them a 3rd rounder. Anything higher was contingent on them making the playoffs.

Here Favre goes trying to set another record, Most times a QB has retired in a decade (00-09, 5 retires).

LOL.

The chinless wonder and tool from ESPN (aka John Clayton) breathlessly declared on radio that Favre is the greatest of all time, that his accomplishments now eclipse those of Elway and Montana, although Montana is on his short list. Um, what suddenly happened? I must have missed something.

And the Jets placekicker pants that Brett is the best that ever played at his position. Geez, he's seen LOTS of football in New York.

Look, I can understand if Brett fans argue you could put him in the mix. But these sycophants blustering that he's better than everyone else in every era is just insane. There's no statistic that will prove that! Clayton actually had no point...he just kept repeating about the 3 MVPs, the game streak, and his 'folksyness that people love and relate to.'

My biggest problem is, how can you have so many 'best ever' literally every three to five years? It's so dumb the gasheads won't even wait for guys to finish a career. Some already anoint Brady (why? 3 rings. But don't ask Troy Aikman about this).

Dumb, dumb.
