At least it was an epic game, if it was his last memory of the Tigers.

Unfortunately the Rockies are mediocre against lefties and the Phils will be going Lee, Hamels, and probably Happ, all southpaws. I don't like Colorado's chances but hope I'm wrong!

Happ wont be pitching game 3... Happ's in the Bullpen... They havent announced game 3 or 4 starters that I know of but Happ warmed up in the 9the today... Blanton will probably 3 and Pedro 4.
I'd like to see Happ as the number 3 but with JC Romero out for the playoffs, that only leaves Eyre and Bastardo as the only Lefties in the bullpen.

Cardinals and Dodgers have stranded 17 runners between them through 4 innings. The game is two hours old, and the Dodgers lead 3-2. Wolf is already out, and Carpenter isn't far behind him.

Game 4 is an 8:00 game, so it should be easy to make both the football game and the baseball game for those who are doing both. I just grabbed a strip of Rockpile tickets for the NLCS from the website pre-sale, too.

Chris Coghlan of the Florida Marlins and Andrew Bailey of the Oakland Athletics win the NL and AL Rookie of the Year Awards.

I would have liked to seen Casey McGehee (MIL) and Garrett Jones (PIT) get more support in the NL. I think they were both punished for being minor league journeymen rather than prospect types.

In the AL, I don't have a problem with Bailey and Andrus at #1 and #2, but I have a big beef with Gordon Beckham finishing fifth.

Time to delete this post. The season is over, thank god. Oh.....that's right. Baseball is never over. In a few more weeks they will have camps and right after spring training.............doh. Damn how I hate MLB.

Jim Tracy is the NL Manager of the Year! He's only the second skipper to receive the award after taking over at midseason (Jack McKeon, Florida '03)

broncocalijohn's boy Mike Scioscia is the AL recipient.

Lincecum shocks Cardinal nation by edging both Carpenter and Wainwright for the National League Cy Young Award. Despite having the most first place votes, Wainwright finishes in third!

The only reason Lincecum won is because Carpenter and Wainwright took votes away from each other. Wainwright got the most 1st place votes and didn't win because writers didn't want to vote Cardinals 1st and 2nd, so they put Lincecum in 2nd place instead of Carpenter. That is the entire reason Lincecum won.

I personally felt Carpenter or Wainright should've won this year. I laughed at Carpenter not being on a ballot, and Javier Vazquez being 2nd on some ballots.

Yea, both of them were better than Lincecum this year. Oh well, just another reason that baseball awards are a complete joke and unworthy of being taken seriously.

Lincecum is the best pitcher in baseball. The only thing he lacked were victory totals (poor run support), but he led the league in quality starts and strikeouts.

I thought all three were deserving, but I don't have a problem with the voters giving it to the best hurler in the game.

Vazquez was only named on one ballot along with Danny Haren.

Vazquez was certainly worthy of mention. In 219 innings, he registered an eye-popping 238/44 strikeout-to-walk ratio. If you dissect his performance, he didn't get much help from the Braves in both hitting and fielding, which is why he won only 15 games.

How is it an injustice when its so close? Someone had to win and someone had to lose. This wasnt exactly Roy Jones at the 1988 Olympics.

lol @ using quality starts to support your argument.

Its a good stat. It tells you who consistently is giving his team a chance to win.
