Barwin played his first 3 years as a Te before moving to De . What do you think about him as a 3-4 outside linebacker. Should have some coverage skills because of the time spent as Te.

Tell us about him. I have never heard of him....
'Course I have never heard of 95% of the College players. But I figure I keep reading here, I will learn more than I really need to know.......

He's raw, but he could end up being a very good OLB, I think.

Thanks. Interesting. Maybe one thing McD and the Brain Trust can do is get the right guys in the right positions.........
I'm a fan. I think his diverse background would see him play very well at SOLB in the 3-4. His pass rushing talents are raw but impressive and he'd be just about the last guy a QB would want to float a ball near.

As I'm understanding, no player taken through the fourth should be a "project" in this year's draft......

he is raw, but he tends to get pushed around, which was the problem we had with some of our LB's this season.

He gets pushed around as a 4-3 DE where OTs get their hands on him almost immediately after the snap. Even then he still had 11 sacks.
As a 3-4 OLB his size will play up better and he'll be more often than not fighting with guards, FBs, and RBs.
Is he a ready made fit? No, but if he was there in the 3rd round he'd be a hell of a nice product to groom for a long term payoff.

you don't groom a 3rd round pick. in my mind 1st-3rd round picks should come in and be playing steadily or starting their rookie year. project picks are for 5th round and later.

He is way too weak right now, he needs to add a lot of muscle before he will be ready. I like his profile and he has some good experience, but he needs to be stronger and he needs to work his leverage.

Exactly the person I thought of...with the receiving skills to boot.

I like the guy. He has the ability to stand up and play in space, and go get the passer -12 sack this season. Great football player that supposedly is gym rat and will do wantever is necessary to help the team.

No, that is not how it works. That is too simple. It is a value based equation and some times a better value player is there based on position and you have to roll the dice. The thing is the draft is fluid, and even though one team needs a guy to be ready to play, the next might be better suited to get the developmental player especially if their roster has less holes to fill.
This is a very deep draft at certain positions, but hell QB is a "Project" position in the first selection of the first round ;D

Barwin is a good player, who is smart enough to make the jump at either position. The thing is, he would be rated higher as a DE/OLB on most people's board's in this draft, so that is where he likely projects. It just matters where his actual value is once the draft begins.

I think the Broncos would have to use a 3 rounder on him in order to get Him.I could see a draft like 1. Rey Rey 2. Donald Brown 3. Conner Barwin or Terrance taylor.
