Man, looking at this schedule, I can already tell you I am not jumping on any bandwagon threads this spring about some 12-4 or 11-5 record. Considering we have new coaches and schemes, and the worst defense in the league. I think 9-7 would be considered a very nice accomplishment.

Home: Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New England, Dallas, N.Y. Giants
Away: Kansas City, Oakland, San Diego, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Washington

The Broncos are gonna need to sweep KC and Oaktown next year and split with SD to even have a shot at making the playoffs.

I sure would like to see a 10-6 record if we can get it but it looks like it could come down to the games with SD again to see who might go from the AFC West. I believe all AFC West teams play most of these same teams so the positive thing I see is that the AFC West will be crappy again next year. That at least gives the Broncos a shot to make the playoffs based on winning our division.

Yep. AFC West's schedule next year looks brutal. Of course, a million things can happen until next season but if I was forced to make a prediction I'd think 9-7 wins the division at best.

I think we are going for four.

Really though, with a few suave moves in FA and the draft, we could be much better on defense. Can't get any worse.

As it stands today, 8-8 would be one hell of a coaching job.

Gonna be an interesting offseason.

wait n see what we do, what the rest of our opponents do in the offseason before we start jumping off cliffs and declare 9-7 a miracle.

Yeah. But atleast this will give Shanny haters an excuse. If McDaniels leads the Broncos to the playoffs, they were right. If we go 6-10, its the changing of regime and we need time. Of course those Dolphins, Ravens and Falcons all changed coaches and that worked out okay for them.

we better not have dumped Mike Shanahan to go 8-8.

The Dolphins, Ravens and Falcons are abberations. Generally, when a new coaching staff comes in, things take a season or two's time to jell. We'll see I guess.

You can't tell, you just can't tell.

Actually, new coaches are faring as well or better than entrenched ones lately. Dolphins, Falcons, Mangini initially, both Tomlin and Whisenhunt. It would be silly to assume we're at a diasadvantage because of the new staff ... and the schedule has a way of seeming lots more or less difficult when the season actually starts.

Yes it typically does, but do you honestly think that Denver fans are going to be patient after firing a hall of fame coach and seeing the success that these coaches had. Also, I'd argue that these teams all play in tougher divisions. Making their feat even more impressive.

This is true. Who thought that we would be playing for the division in the final week. Nobody, not because we didn't have faith in the Broncos, but assumed the Charges would most likely win 12 games or more. You just never know.

I'm just saying if this team sucked sooooo much like everyone thought and we still won 8 games then I see no reason for us to lose more games if we get better people. Our DC was the worst DC ever. Replacing him should give us three more wins right there.

Yep, but Pat Bowlen expects SB every year so I am now.

Dump a HOF coach for a young guy with no experience we better make it deep in playoffs or I am calling for heads to roll.

Oh shut up. Look at the schedule and look at the D Shanny built. Be realistic.

why even care about the schedule? there is no such thing as a 'tuff' schedule or 'weak' schedule in the nfl...

You never know. Both our teams had easy schedules on paper last year, but some of the teams that looked like turds going into the season turned out to be quite good. Maybe 2009 will be the opposite.

There are always teams that look tough on paper that mail it in and dogs like Miami that turn out to be good.

I don't like our odds with no D, a 1st time HC, new O.

I thought we tried to copy NE O so how is this going to be a different O really other then we got the coach that coached NE so he has a clue to how to run it.

new terminology for 1.

We were running WCO, patsys run Spread and run out of passing formations. The O is going to be new because it is a new HC and OC.

So the play they called dog is now called cat. LOL I don't think the O will be a problem :)

yeah but multiply that x 100 plays and it's not as simple as you imply.

Every time I see this type of "HOF coach" comment I cringe. The Dallas Cowboys parted ways with a HOF coach named Tom Landry and did okay with his successor, a guy named Jimmy Johnson. The Pittsburgh Steelers parted ways with a HOF coach named Chuck Noll and did okay with his successor, a guy named Bill Cowher. Mike Shanahan may well be a HOF coach but he hasn't done much in 10 years. Time for the Broncos to move foward, just like it was time for the Cowboys and Steelers to move on. Let it go.

I think our playoff chances are really up in the air...however I don't think it's looking good right now. It will take some key FAs and some another crop of rookies contributing to put this team into the playoffs with the schedule we're facing.

I'll go ahead and hope with ya, but I don't see this happen nearly as often as teams going the other way

Unless Broncos make some major splashes I see them as needed 2 more drafts to fix this. Maybe pick up 1-2 good FA along the way.

This is a pretty big mess we have it could take another yr. Plus schedule looks brutal at this point.
