He played a hell of a game from DT last night.

High motor and even double teamed he was getting pressure.

Screw all the overpriced Titians and Raven DL headcases, this is the type of guy we need at DT!

Then lets draft and train a few.

Last year it was Tuck, this year Dockett, next year let's make our own. Let's stop overpaying for someone else's good D-line and make our own. Nunnely can help us do it if we stick with Nolan's system a couple years.

Sadly, I wanted Dockett a few years ago and we could have easily had him out of FSU. I think he slid to the 3rd round and we still passed him up.

I think half of the Cardinals Def. are FA's. Gonna be a tough off-season for them

Gabe Watson is an RFA but I didn't see Dockett on the list.

Outside of Haynesworth... I really don't see much on that list.

I'm fine with drafting/training our own, but when was the last time we "overpaid" for a defensive linemen? IHop?

We've been blue-light, bargain-bin shopping on the D-line for almost a decade, with maybe one exception that was a total flop. It's a complete myth that we've gone out and made huge moves in free agency... at least on defense. We haven't. We made a big trade, but we've poo-poo'd this defense in FA for a long time, now.

This team needs to make a legitimate free agent splash in the front seven. Now that Shanahan is gone, I highly suspect we will.

Dockett's not a free agent but he has said he wants to redo his contract. Dansby and Wilson also want to redo their contracts.

I feel most sorry for the Ravens. They have a lot of quality free agents hitting the market and very little cap room.

LOL Damn this economy. It's really taking it's toll on these billionaire owners. If this keeps up, they will be flying their private jets to Congress to ask for assistance. I hear the line is now forming behind Larry Flints wheel chair.

Who's got a Madden trade that we can land him with?

Torain, 5th and 7th?

i agree. i think with good defensive coaching minds, the Goodmans and McD on the job we won't see those FA signings that a year later make us want to pull our hair out, but we are going to hit FA hard this offseason

Seriously, I get it, and partially retract my statement.

We haven't paid to keep our own talent, and several of our FA players haven't been worth bleep.

I agree, if we can land a Peppers or Suggs it should be worth it. Mainly because of our new coaching regime. Otherwise we would have been wasting money on that nitwit Slowik.

I think my comment was more about draftting and coaching overall defensive talent. Our last good Safety was an import (Lynch), our two starting corners are imports (Bailey and Bly), The Boss Bailey and Niko imports were laughable, Webster, Lowery, etc...

In my opinion, the Browncos line was actually a good investment for the team, although it wasn't a long term solution. It might have been different if Courtney Brown had stayed healthy.

I just want to see us keep the coaching staff that can develop our own talent for a while.

I agree with you Popps, I just hope we can count on the Goodmans to really pick the guys that will help win football games, not sell tickets.

I just look at the Browns last season, who got both FA DT's we wanted last year. They looked like they were going to have a bad ass 3-4 Defense this year, but they sucked. I want the big FAs, coupled with a great d-line coach that can produce our own as well. We are on the same page I think.

yep, we are all going to find out if the Goodmans can pick defense or not in the next couple of months. I've been really impressed with their talent evaluations, as our drafts have been quite nice.

I'm surprised that they had him line up as NT in their 3-4 package. He's listed as 285 lbs.

I love him. Wanted him when he came out. Obviously, GO NOLES.
