View Full Version : What Are The Odds Of Shanny Being Gone Next Year?

telluride

Whatever the scenario--fired, quit, heart attack--what do you think are the chances that we might go into next season without Shanny?

Also, how is he being treated by the sports talk shows and media? Are there calls for his head? Or just a tired resignation that Bowlen has hamstrung the team's options?

I've always been a Shanny fan, but the debacles of the last few seasons point out the wisdom that coaches grow stale in one place if they stay too long. He's still a good coach--but perhaps he is not the right coach for the Broncos any longer. Fresh blood can make a huge difference, as evidenced by what Parcells is doing.

Maybe he'll leave and then Denver can pick up Marty when San Diego fires him. ;)

no, only K.C and San Diego would believe he could lead them somewhere. Denver is much smarter than that.

How about some actual discussion, rather than a reflexive "none"? I'm interested in what the tenor there in Denver is about the guy, and if it might boil into enough heat to force Bowlen--or shanny himself, to take action in some way....

Jim Fassel ...He was on OC for us a while back ........ Wade Phillips got the HC Job In Denver cause of what he did with our Defense and we canned Reeves during the season so wade was our HC for like a Year and a Half ....... But then KC hired ****tenhammer Hilarious!

Are you sure he wasn't a head coach? Schots was there for 1 .500 year, 8 winning seasons and 1 loosing one. Thank GOD he's gone. LIFE is SOOOOOO much better now with D.V. 8')

Well I am no Profit , I cant say if Shanny will quit be fired , die of a heart attack or go to Prision for Shooting Gardener .........

There are still games to play this year. Shanny can still show something, one way or the other (and I do mean one way or the other). From what I've heard and seen so far, Bowlen has stepped away from having anything to do with this team other than getting sauced in his luxury box with his furry friends and face-lifted femmes. Judging by his new found local invisibility, the team is Shanny's to destroy. The Captain's at the helm shouting, "That warn't no iceberg!"

Jim Fassel most certainly is a head coach... for the New York Giants. The highest position he held in Denver was OC... we did, however, suffer through a brief stint with Wade Phillips as HC in the interim between Reeves and Shanahan.

Dude, if you're going to talk smack, at least know what the hell you're talking about... It might help to know a little bit about the rival team that you want to talk smack about...

Anyway back to the original post!

Shanny's odds are pretty good for staying.... Unfortunately, if any fan was his owner they would cut him loose. I don't care what anyone say's about past result's and super bowl rings.

If I did solid work for my company 2 year's ago ,but haven't achieved much in the past 2 year's (errors/lost money) I'd be out on my ass. Same should be said for Mike and he's working on his 5th year of being mediocre!

Well, I'm one fan that wouldn't cut him loose. I'd get rid of Kubiak well before I think of getting rid of Shanahan.

I don't think he's going anywhere. If Bowlen is to do something it'd had to be after a 4-12 season or something like that. I don't think Denver will come close to having a season like that.

Jesus H people, you don't want him leaving right now that's for sure. If Kubiak is still here and Shanny leaves you better believe Kubiak is the next head coach ala Jimmy Johnson/Dave Wanstadt in Miami.

Mark my words. If for any reason Shanahan steps down/gets terminated, Kubiak will run this team.

Well some of US would LOVE that...;D
That would indeed be a bad thing for you guys. But I thought Gary used to call good plays. Didn't the Rat turn the play calling over to him for a reason? ???

Not mine, stolen. I forget where I found it but it's not big enough for a wallpaper. I'm pretty sure I got it from maddenmania.com someone there was using it for the sig so I grabbed it. Some board somewhere, can't really remember exactly which board tho.

Just for telluride and any other punk who doesn't like Shanahan:

The best quote ever from Pat Bowlen

"A lot of guys out there fire their coaches because they want to get to the Super Bowl and they can't get there with the guy they got. Well, I've been there twice with the guy I've got."

wat is the deal wih everyone saying he is a mediocre coach leading the team to mediocrity. All he as done since he got to denver is make the winningest team in the past 10 years, the best offensive team of the last 10 years, win 2 super bowls. How can people think denver would b better off without him. He made a team last season with no real offensive studs and made them into a 13-3 team. Next season when he wins a super bowl, every person on here who said to cut him loose will want Bowlen to give him another contract extension. Plain and simple he is 1 of the 3 best coaches in the league and will b in denver as long as he wants, and i am for damn sure happy about that, just as every other broncos fan should b

You're absolutely correct. this guy, Telluride, is just a Shanahan hater and he was all over the board with this crap a year ago.

Given all the stuff happening out there, it is not easy to be bored. Because there are too many blind homers, hypocrites who forget their own past gripes against the FO, or people holding a grudge because they can't let sleeping trolls lie.

Makes no sense to me why people continue to clutter up the main board with this crap. Telluride hasn't posted in a good long time. Why not just enjoy the lack of anti-Shanny spin and use the time to talk some real football?

Wait and see though, right now we're coming off a very successful season so everyone is in love with the organization. If we fail to win the division next year it'll be an entirely different song and dance. Hell, look at a good chunk of the FA discussion going on here, lots of bickering and questioning threads because we haven't made a move early in free agency. Watch all the chicken littles chime in once again when Shanny takes some unknowns early day one in the draft too.

Maybe for you...there are those of us that are not as fickle. Bottom line....9/10ths of the people here don't actually know what goes on in the front office and have no idea how an office is run in general. And then you have clowns that take it to the next level. Let it be known...if you post **** on this board like Tully...it'll come back to bite thou in thy arse.

Maybe it's just me but I thought Shanny looked more relaxed last year than I've seen in a while. With the best owner in football, Mike will be in Denver until he has had enough coaching. I haven't seen any indication that this is in the near future.

Agree but I think your estimate of 1/10th knowing what is going on in the FO is way high. There are really only a couple here that have direct contact with the FO.

I just don't get the way people freaked-out on coach last season. I guess they didn't like the moves...but I've always contended he's the best. And when people talk about replacing him...my first question is with who. No one ever has an answer for that.

Fickle? No, I'm just objectionable.

Sorry if you don't like being called out for bumping a TWO YEAR OLD THREAD just to try and rub it in some troll's face who doesn't even come around anymore. Its preschool level playground pissing matches and all it does is clutter up the main board that SHOULD be used for relevant discussions worth a ****. Instead people like you keep coming up with this "I told you so" bull****. This is just the flip side to the doom and gloom crowd last off-season after our second straight blowout loss to the Colts.

Keeps people from posting **** huh? How's it going to do that? This is a discussion board, its expected that a wide variety of people will put their opinions about football, in particular the Broncos, on this board. Some might not have the most realistic opinions, but its still their opinion. They might not all agree with your personal beliefs about the team and I'm pretty sure not all of them will agree with the Organization 100% of the time. If thats what you're looking for go become a 'Skins fan, there's a fanbase willing to swallow Dan Snyder's **** and call it chocolate all day long.

But hey, don't let me disuade you. You sure as hell called Telluride out! Way to go! Oh wait, he's posted twice since last September. Do you think he even noticed/really even cares? Keep feeling like you did something worth a **** though, maybe the next time you can bump something from the last millenium, wouldn't that be special!
