I just got the e-mail from the Denver Broncos.

It reads:

NO INCREASE IN 2009 SEASON TICKET PRICES

Season ticket prices for the 2009 season will remain the same as the prices in 2008. Season Ticket renewal information will be mailed in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to an exciting 2009 season under new head coach Josh McDaniels as the Broncos celebrate 50 seasons of football in Denver.

The Broncos also have a special new logo commemorating their 50th anniversary.

I'm pretty sure in 13-15 years, which is the current wait time on the list, I'll be the happiest man alive. Until then, I will just buy single game tix when I can

for a franchise that has usually promoted that their prices be "among the top 12 in the NFL to remain competitive" the Broncos have done very little to show for it ... the right thing to do would have been to REDUCE prices after another dismal season down the stretch.

Cool. I assume the Broncos are going to be wearing this patch next year?

And it's not their 50th anniversary; it's their 50th season.

Wonder when my number will be called. I got on the list at the end of the Griese era. I always say the silver lining of every loss/bad season is it gets me closer to season tickets.

8-8 is hardly a "dismal" season.

beer prices, food prices, everything is ridiculous, that's why the tailgating scene is so important. I'm pumped for next year, why can't it be august yet?!

You can bring food into the game and un-open soft drinks.

Have you seen the price of a bottle of Chardonay in the club level? Oh the humanity!

don't disregard the "down the stretch" portion of the sentence; be sure to read the post in full context.

"dismal" is a relative term - if the team's charging top 12 prices and not making the playoffs year in and year out, that could be considered "dismal" in light of what the team is charging for tickets. that's what i meant by the post.

The only thing that "swill" is good for is as an additive to melted butter. Make the Crablegs "happier" as they slide down the gullet.;D

You can bring food into the game and un-open soft drinks.

or unopened margarita mix in a mountain dew bottle after you drain the mountain out of the bottom after cutting a slit in the bottle and then using a funnel to load up on "mountain dew" and sealing with glue ;)

now THAT'S a 6-pack :)

By keeping the prices where they are, they will no doubt be outside the top 12 in the league in terms of ticket price. I think what they charge now is pretty fair, given what I've seen lately at some other stadiums, and what the new stadiums in NY and Dallas are charging for PSIs alone, not to mention the tix themselves.

50th season and 50th anniversary

The Denver Broncos were founded on August 14, 1959 when minor league baseball owner Bob Howsam was awarded an American Football League charter franchise.

Put into context it is Beantown.

When 8-8 is what you get when you were 8-5 with a 3 game lead for the division with 3 to go, thats pretty ****ing dismal.

Sure, the last month sucked. But 8-8 is still middle of the road. And so are their ticket prices.

The entertainment value is still good. Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Ryan Clady and company are one of the most exciting offensive units on earth. They may end up being the best offense in football.

W's reign supreme, but this current group is more fun to watch than some of the ugly Jake Plummer/Brian Griese teams that made the playoofs.
