Remember those Super Bowls that were over with by the half?

I'd love to see AZ continue it's improbable run, unfortunately I see them breaking down and Pittsburgh pulling away by the middle of the second quarter. Steelers in a laugher.

Cards win by 14, close till the end before they finally put it away with a long bomb to Boldin.

no one is giving pittsburgh any credit haha. that said, i think the cardinals will take it, their defense is not bad, the pittsburgh offense is not good (their defense is amazing however) but teh cardinals are just playing so damn good, its hard to picture them NOT being competitive in this game.

That's exactly the way I see it. I told my Dad last night that I think people will be putting on their coats sometime in the third quarter and heading home from their Superbowl parties.

Right. just like Grieses. Yeah, i am sure he shows that thing off at parties..............where he gets drunk, talks some smack and then gets a beat down. Gimme a break.
On LA sports radio they were discussing Leinart and if he was a "bust" or not. As hard as they lobbied for the guy, they couldnt legitimately make a case for him. Hes a bust, and has done nothing but hold a clipboard. Or a beer bong

Steelers defense looks dumb when they have to keep Polamalu out of the box to try and play deep halfves with underneath man coverage, and Rus Grimm effectively stops Dick LeBeau's pressure schemes... again. Arizona smokes them.

I'm going with Arizona 27 - Pittsburgh 23.

According to the NFL Public Betting Chart (http://www.thespread.com/nfl-football-public-betting-chart), 58% of the bets for this game have been placed on the Cardinals +7.

Just an observation--roughly 70% of the Mane thinks the Cardinals +7 will cover.

I generally place my money on the team with the best defense. Have never gone wrong there. But I'm beginning to think Arizona's D has picked it up and their offense is better than Pitt's. I may not bet this year. The one intangible for Pitt is they've been there. I'm wonder if Arizona may get too distracted by the hype.

Steelers in a blow-out.

By half-time, NFL fans around the country are looking at each other saying, "Well. What do you want to do now?" And, "What do we do with all this food?"

I believe the Steelers' defense will be the key factor in this game. Willie Parker's healthy and they should be able to establish the ground game. Should be a tough, hard-fought game, but I think the Steelers come out on top.

I like the idea of rooting for the AFC, but I can't seem to root for the Steelers to become the first team with a "six pack" of lombardis when the Cardinals haven't even been there. I never could root for the Patriots or Colts either, and definately not the faders or ratbirds, so I've been rooting for NFC teams pretty much every year since the Broncos.

It tells me something that the bell curve on this poll is all effed up. I think it means that people are voting with their hearts and not their heads... Maybe not. But it's really weird that hardly no one thinks that the Steelers win a close one.

if you think about it, AZ has already faced 3 good defenses in Atl, Carolina, and Philly (PHI being a top-3 defense) - and put up huge numbers on all of them.

People are saying Pitt will blitz Warner all day long - well, didn't Philly do the same thing? Warner just dumped it off to the screen each time for 10 yards

Ari. also took care of three top-3 RB's this post-season (Turner, Williams, and Westbrook). So that seems to me that Pitt will have to rely on Big Ben, who is really only good when he's scrambling, and when it's 3rd down.

Whisenhunt and Grimm basically know the Pitt offense up-and-down as Whisenhunt drilled the Pitt offense every day against the Pitt defense when he was there. I think Whiz will take away Ben's scrambles.

AZ wins in a nail-biter

Bronx33
01-29-2009, 12:24 PM
Turnovers will determine this game the cards are like 10-0 after cashing in on turnovers also the cards offense has been together for 19 straight games without a serious injury. Another key will be who can force the other QB into making mistakes, i just think this games comes down to the intangiables.

There were bad calls on both teams in that SB, I thought. The most egregious officiating call in that entire playoff series worked against the Steelers (negating an interception by Polamalu against the Colts). It would have cost 'em the game if the Colts' kicker hadn't shanked that FG attempt.

Pitts O is not up to par with AZ, it all comes down to D in this game.

Hogan11
01-29-2009, 04:52 PM
This is what I really want:

AZ 5 PITT 1 after the 1st Quarter
AZ 2 PITT 1 at the Half
AZ 4 PITT 1 after the 3rd Quarter
AZ 2 PITT 6 somehow as the Final Score

Crap pool numbers I know...but judging by the numbers around my square, I stand a great chance of being kissed as long as the score stays conventional, that alone is worth $250 per Quarter.

Ahh, those are already coming out of the woodwork. I want them to win, but I am not going to say I am a lifelong Cardinal fan even if they win. I support them because they are from my home state and I love underdog teams and this would be a way cooler historical win (a team who has never won a Superbowl lead by a guy who would with this win be the only guy to win with 2 different teams in superbowl).

There in the third quarter, I thought about this thread. It looked like it might be a blowout. I was pretty happy to see the Cardinals turn it into a game in the fourth quarter. I was disappointed, however, that they didn't maintain their lead.
