In response to rapidly-spreading rumors (we might have had something to do with that) regarding the possibility of a former Broncos and Raiders coach landing with their common rivals in Kansas City, Adam Schefter of NFLN says that there’s no truth whatsoever to the reports/rumors/rumblings/scuttlebutt that Mike Shanahan will be the next coach of the Chiefs. Per Schefter, the Chiefs and Shanahan have had no contact as of mid-day Thursday.

Of course, it doesn’t mean that there won’t be contact if/when Herm Edwards is fired. We assume that the Chiefs are spending more time deciding whether to keep Herm than they are lining up his potential replacement. Especially in light of the Rooney Rule.

Unless Shanahan’s spray tan falls within the scope of the Soul Man exception, he can’t be hired until after Edwards is fired and at least one minority candidate is interviewed.

This is actually disappointing. Shanny to KC would have been great. KC would finish 8-8 or thereabouts for next ten years. They'd start games fast, then fade quickly, and lose. They'd fail to make adjustments, fail to field a defense, fail to be prepared for big games, and slowly their vaunted home field advantage would waste away. Tragic, really.

Remember though, this is Schefter. The only time he seems to be wrong is when Shanahan wants to spread misinformation.

You still won't leave because of your personality type. You probably got picked on as a kid and now you are stuck with the urge to go find the cool kids and try and get back at them by bugging the **** out of them.

It is effective sometimes but you have to realize it's more about you then it is us. Get some therapy and maybe you wouldn't feel the need to be a troll anymore. Honestly it's not noble or even admirable. It's just pathetic and funny to those of us that understand the emotions behind it.

I doubt it was any of us from the football team that used to give you a wedgie and make you look silly in front of all the girls. If it was one of us we aren't sorry, you obviously deserved it. By the way what's it liked being locked in a locker for a whole day?

Bob if KC was hiring Shanny don't you think they would of sent Herm down the road already? Seems to me like they are waiting after the SB to make a move which points to Haley. Hell it's not a for sure thing that Sperm Edwards is gone anyway is it?

I really don't understand why Spicoli would ever fire Mr. Hand, errr, Herm Edwards. He coaches his players to win the game, what more can you want?

So far Schefter is right. The only open jobs left are KC and Oakland.

Like I said in the other thread, I'm not so sure Mike is all that attractive a head coaching candidate.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter calls it "Time to squash that rumor," and says there's no truth to it. Shanahan said at his farewell presser in Denver that he'd only coach for a team close to winning. The Chiefs don't fit the profile.

I'd like to face Shanny twice a year. Just more reason to hate the guy and a West rivial.

I would be bummed if Shannahan went to KC but I see it sort of as a reach. Shannahan is a huge ego and would have trouble getting used to having a GM. IMO he could end up in college football or for a team that will give him a say in what players to bring in. He may give up the final say to just coach but IMO he would want a lot more imput then Pioli will want to give him.

I'm not sure it would work out so well in KC for those 2 ego driven men.

Pioli's smart move is to give Edwards a yr because if chiefs do well he takes credit for not being rash and firing him. If he does poorly he can say well hes not my coach and I needed longer then what time I had last yr to pick right one for chiefs long term. Either way he get's until 3rd yr before he is on the hook.

I am more afraid that he 1st wins back to back SB's with them in 4 years before their 10 years of 8-8.

I think the change will help Shanny more than it will help the Broncos.

Well when I saw Shanny at the farmers market this last Saturday he looked rested and all smiles. I asked him if he was here for the winter and he said, "Na I can't sit around any more I'm going back to work." I said what you going to do. He smiled and said, " I'm gonna show Pat Bowlen what a huge mistake he made."

Don't know what that means but it sounds like coaching in the AFCW

Somewhere Charles Barkley would be bitching if that scenerio took place since there are 100 black potential HC that are more qualified. :D Seriously they could fire Herm and call Frazier in while Shanny was signing the contract.

Not sure if Shanny wants to move out of his Cherry Hills mansion into the trailer park across the street from Arrowhead. Bob may not get to see football this season unless he gets a antenna. Analog just like Chiefs football is obsolete.
