As long as we're crying over the loss of old DCs ... Larry Coyer was hired today as the Colts' new DC, and now Greg Robinson to Michigan:

Robinson new Michigan D-Coordinator

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan has hired Greg Robinson as its defensive coordinator.

The former coach at Syracuse, fired in November after going 10-37 in four seasons, replaces Scott Shafer.

Shafer resigned in mid-December after his first season with the Wolverines. He coordinated a defense that gave up 347 points, the most in school history.

The team finished 3-9 in 2008, Rich Rodriguez's first year as Michigan's head coach.

Robinson to the Wolverines. Gunther to the Lions.

If a country ever wanted to invade the US, now's the time. Go through Michigan -- there's no defense anywhere.

LOL ... that's funny. And wasn't "Red Dawn" set in Michigan (or was it Colorado?)

I guess it was both Michigan and Colorado kind of ....

Calumet is a village in Calumet Township, Houghton County, in the U.S. state of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. . . . In 1984 (http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/1984), Calumet's name was borrowed by Hollywood. Calumet was moved from Michigan to Colorado, where it was invaded by Soviet paratroopers in the film "Red Dawn (http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Red-Dawn)." One of the film's producers grew up on the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Robinson fielded top 10 defenses in four of the six years he was in Denver. The first year (1995) he turned around the Broncos defense from the bottom five to a middle-of-the-pack unit. In both 1996 and 1997, Denver's defense was ranked #1 in the AFC in yards allowed per game.

I remember those Charlie Waters years, Robinson was a godsend when he got here. Made the defense respectable again. A big reason Denver went back-to-back.

In a related story, Bob Slowik is being considered for Ben McDaniels' old position at Massillon Jackson High School.
