****in' awesome... So its a safe assumption that the zone blocking scheme stays and will likely be incorporated into McD's system in some fashion or another...

That is good news! I didn't want Dennison as the head coach but I was hoping he'd stay to coach the oline and to smooth the transition to McDaniels.

Some continuity after all...

Good to know. They'll probably be asked to different things. I have no doubt the entire format for practices will change as will how they approach the game, but there is do doubt that Dennison and Turner know their positions and can teach guys to play it. Good news indeed.

This is shaping up nicely. I wasn't a huge fan of the way Bates called plays, but I really liked the job Dennison did with the young O-line.

Mcdaniels calling plays
Bates out
Dennison in
Turner in

I like the set up so far

The RMN's updated article has him as the OL coach. Very happy about this news...

Rick Dennison has never spent time with any other NFL team. I'm glad it stayed that way. Bronco for life!

While I loved Bates' potential, I think losing Dennison and Turner would have proven too costly.

Awesome.

Hope it is team loyalty and not a lack of options.

Yeah, but they're putting him back as special teams coach again.

Kidding. Kidding.

So put me in the minority of one here so far, I am not sold on Dennison. Although I do credit him for keeping the line blocking scheme together my impression is the postions he's coached have been mediocre at best.

Maybe not as important as Turner, but good news nonetheless.

ENGLEWOOD Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels has notified longtime assistant Rick Dennison that he will be retained on team's staff.

Dennison, like running backs coach Bobby Turner who also has been retained, was a member of Mike Shanahan's original staff with the Broncos when Shanahan was hired by the team in 1995.

Dennison, who had also interviewed with team officials about the head coaching job, met with McDaniels this past Tuesday about remaining on the staff.

Dennison coordinated the team's run game as well as coached the offensive line.

The Broncos have routinely 12 times in Shanahan's 14 seasons as head coach finished among the league's top 10 in rushing. The Broncos also allowed just 12 sacks this past season in more than 600 pass attempts, a franchise record for fewest sacks allowed in a season.

Dennison has been the team's line coach for three of the four best seasons in terms of sacks allowed 12 this past season, 15 in 2004 (the second fewest) and 23 sacks allowed in 2005 (fourth fewest).

Dennison now formally joins Turner and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan on McDaniels' staff. Kansas City's special teams coach Mike Priefer is expected to the Broncos' new special teams coach and veteran coach Dom Capers is expected to join the staff in the coming days.

McDaniels continues to make the rounds in search for assistants to coach linebackers, the defensive line and the secondary. Jedd Fisch, who was the wide receivers coach under Shanahan also has met with McDaniels about remaining on the staff and is expected by many in the league to stay in Denver.

Quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates, who has three years left on his contract, is a longtime friend of new Lions coach Jim Schwartz. The two worked together on the Titans staff, and Bates certainly will be looked at for a position on Schwartz's staff.

Bates has been cleared to interview with other teams the Raiders already have received permission to talk to him. With McDaniels slated to call plays in the Broncos offense, Bates' job would change if he were to stay.

12 sacks allowed last year with 600 pass attempts is mediocre?

Wow thats a great turnaround. I had good information that Turner nor Dennison wanted to come back, period. Must have quite the plan to persuade them to stay.

Should go a long ways in helping the Oline adjust to a new system without losing much of its production.

Yeah I think bringing in Capers would be a great move as well. Its hard to believe because its essentially a lateral move coming over from New England, must show the pull that Coach McD has or that Belichick was really unimpressed with his work. I like that Denver would have two guys with head coaching experience to work with our rookie head coach, and have them both on the defensive side of the ball which was pretty devoid of quality leadership last year to say the least.

Man, I am full of good info today.

I remember a time when posters here on the mane didn't like Dennison, and I was THE lone poster who said HE WAS GETTING THE JOB DONE QUITE NICELY WITH THE OFFENSIVE LINE...

I'm sure you all don't remember that, but your welcome to search the mane for my posts...

I was one of the doubters. They moved him over from special teams to take over for Gibbs and almost everyone, including me, thought the O line play was going to go right down the toilet.

I take that back. There will never be another TD. Okay. Somebody good, then. ;D

This is good thing. I believe McD going to have to adopt his system to incorporate more ZBS but that should be good thing. Wonder how the terminology is going to work.

well he has no reason to abandon denvers ZBS, he said in his press conference you dont mess with something thats working. running has rarely been denvers problem. it will be interesting to see how he puts this together and if we see mnore bootlegs this year.

Great just demote him to o-line where he should be get us a OC a WR coach and the offense will be set. But the real fire works will be the hires we get for the defense.

Great interpretation. ROFL!

Dennison staying is good. I wasn't down there on the field, but what he did with the line and Clady was amazing. Shanahan called this guy smarter than himself.

Happy to have him back.8')

I don't know about that. If my wife dated 600 guys, she wouldn't be my wife. You have to take in to consideration how many of the remaining 588 hit triples when up to bat.
