Given the recent turnarounds of teams with much less talent, I say over. If we can get our D to "no longer the most embarrassing thing ive ever seen" and improve our red zone efficiency I think we're over...barely.

Under. Our schedule's brutal and converting from the 4-3 to the 3-4 will be tough. With that, I think we'll get stronger as the season goes on - opposed to recent seasons.

I'll say over...barely. I think we will be significantly better next year, but we are playing a much more difficult schedule. We could have the 20th ranked D and healthy running backs and still finish between 7-9 and 9-7. Or we could get lucky in a couple of games and finish 11-5 or so.

True, however look at this year, our schedule turned out to be more difficult than expected. WHo would have thought Miami would have manned up like that, at the beginning of the year we considered that a automatic win. I think it's dangerous to read too much into a schedule before the season starts.

The good thing about having a new coach is that you can sneak up on some people in the first year. The opponents wouldn't have accurate game film...at least at the start of the season...

I think even with the major changes that are coming, I think it's possible we will get as high as 10-6 or as low as 6-10 next year.

McD should be able to at least maintain our offensive abilities, and it's pretty much impossible for him to screw up the defense more than it already is. Odds are we will be about the same as '08 (decent offense, poor defense) so I am gonna say straight 8-8.

Shanny did wonderful things for this organization, but in the end he was an utter failure on the defensive side of the ball, mostly because he let his ego get in the way. I'm glad to see mcD not afraid to bring in someone like Nolan, which Shanny would never have done.

:Broncos:

You think we'll get more than 8 wins?

We play

San Diego Away
San Diego Home
Indy
New England
Baltimore
Pittsburgh
NY Giants
Philadelphia

All of these teams made the playoffs except New England who went 11-5.

5 of them were from the final 8 teams.

3 of them are in the final 4 teams.

+

Dallas
Washington

Both are not gimme wins by any means.

+

We could easily drop a game to Cleavland or a division rival.

... take into account we are also establishing a brand new O and D scheme.

Our division rivals will be improved in the off season (KC especially)

Winning 8 games seems highly unlikely... though I'd love nothing else than for us to be in the playoffs next season.

Getting a 9 win season next year would defiantly impress me, though a 7-8 win wouldn't get me mad by any means... so long as I saw improvement.

People voting the over are being very very optimistic. We were very lucky to be an 8-8 team this year and could have just as easily been 4-12 or 5-11. We only won 2 games the entire season by more than 7 points (Raiders and Jets) and 5 of the other 6 were won by 4 or less.

As previously mentioned, our schedule is brutal next year (Giants, Skins, Pats, Cowboys, Eagles, Colts, Steelers, Bolts x2).

I would love to see us go over .500 next year, but I think it's unrealistic to expect it with a whole new regime, a tougher schedule, and what will likely be a complete overhaul of the defense.

i am looking at it this way, we had no defense this year and no running game and we were still able to pull out 8 wins on Jay's arm alone.

next season no matter if we are rebuilding the defense it will be improved over this year, and we will have a running game that works, to go along with Jay who on his own got us 8 wins.

i say improvements get us 3-4 more wins and we get back to the playoffs.

The enthusiasm is about the new faces in office. Wow, this thread started off so positive, but it has taken a downward spiral, I believe the overall view of next year is split right down the middle. How sweet would it be if we went 19-0.

I'm just gonna start living in a fantasy world, in it we still have Shanny coaching, Al wilson in the middle, Rod Smith coming off a 1,000 yard season, and of course a healthy champ and a strong TD in the backfield aiming for another 2,000 yards on the ground. Also, Steve Atwater has decided to come out of retirement as well as Lynch, I know they aren't a typical Safety Combo, but it's my fantasy world. I just hope Shannon sharp can have another good season and Joe Montana likes his new home in Denver. Ahhhhhhhhh yes, my fantasy world is sweet.

It's my fantasy, and in my fantasy Elway refuses to come out of retirement, so Cool Joe Montana steps up big and takes the reigns.

Ok, now this is real crazy.

Atwater and Lynch morph together into one player to play strong safety that is feared by Every offensive player in the NFL.

Free safety position is simply filled by Mr. Ed Reed. (enough said)

Under but they win the Super Bowl. They finish 8-5-3 on the season. That's right. Three ties. Wacky season.

Anyway. They face the Detroit Lions, who managed to reverse their 0-16 season with a 16-0 mark, in Super Bowl XLIV. Denver is down 27-12 with under 30 seconds to go and the ball on their own 1 yard line. It looks certain that Detroit is going to accomplish what New England failed to do two seasons earlier.

Cutler, in the shotgun, hits Brandon Marshall on the sideline at mid field. He is nailed by the free safety but before he hits the ground he pitches it to Royal. The Hook and Lateral. ER sprints to the end zone, leaving three seconds left on the clock. Cutler then scores the two point conversion on a naked boot leg. 27-20.

Prater then comes on for the onside kick. (He is 4-4 on FG's, including a record 66 yarder before the half.) The kick takes a high bounce and Hillis (who became the second two thousand yard rusher in Broncos history) jumps over the top of a defender and makes a spectacular one handed grab. Unfortunately, he comes down awkwardly and tears his hamstring. Despite this, he manages to lateral the ball back to Scheffler who then laterals it to Champ who then runs over Roary, the Lions masot who ran onto the field thanking the game was over, and scores the improbable TD with no time remaining. 27-26.

Coach McDaniels, whose offense set numerous records on the season but had a tendency to stall in OT, decides to go for 2 and the win. Cutler, on a play action roll out, hits tackle eligible Ryan Clady for the winning conversion to seal the the victory in the greatest Super Bowl game in history. 28-27.
