Despite Adam Schefter statement that he didn't think the team would be keeping Bates, does the departure of Dennison, and McDaniels as HC make room for Bates to step up as the O.C?

NO. Speculation is that it could be Jeff Davidson--current Panthers OC--and ex broncos lineman.

so what the hell is going to happen to Bates didn't Bowlen say he was keeping him

No, Bowlen never said any such thing. It was reported that Bowlen would urge the new HC to retain 6 of the current coaching staff but said HC was not required to. Moreover it has been said that Bowlen allowed each of the remaining coaches on the staff to seek employment elsewhere if they didn't want to play under the new kid's rules.

I gotta tell you, I wouldnt work for a guy 10 or 15 years younger than me knowing I knew more about the NFL and football than this little squirt did. Id walk too. Bates probably doesnt like the fact that McDaniels got the position and he didnt even get an interview and I dont see Bates and McDaniels togther on the same staff. Dennison is a no brainer, why work for the guy that beat you out and cant even commit himself to referring to the Broncos as "we".

Id be surprised if anyone but probably Tuten stays. Maybe the WR coach.

It's too early to rule that out. firing coaches that the QB is close too has a way of pissing off a QB. Just ask Shanny ;-)

I'd bet money Bates isnt with the team in less than a week. If I was a gambling man that is.

Bates, Turner and Dennison will all be employed elsewhere this time next week.

My guess is Turner goes to Houston, Dennison to SF, Bates to hell or wherever it is he spawned from.

Judging by the way this thing has gone... I don't think Bowlen gives a **** if Jay is pissed or not.

McDaniels made it clear he will run things the way he wants them run. I think Bates is gone to clear the slate.

No because all of the departing coaches will be employed very shortly.

I have to admit it sucks for Bates... He had the option of being the OC for Tennessee... oops

Assuming these guys many hoped would stay don't, at the end of the day it's for the better. You want a staff that wants to work together, that trusts each other, and that is on the same page. You can't have dissension in the ranks.

if you have ever been through an aquisition of a company, you know this is the best answer

change is hard just suck it up in one big gross gulp and move on with people that are going in the same direction

Yup, luckily Bowlen didn't outsource any of the jobs to India! (a place I worked at did that shortly after we were bought, %50 staff reduction in one day!)

I have stopped dealing with any company who outsourced their customer service to "Bob" in Mumbai.

Yep, and any time a "new guy/gal" comes in to take a position of authority. There's always going to be people who feel "passed over" and harbor resentment. It's human nature. Although some may come around and work out fine it's generally better to have these people leave from the start.

It really doesn't matter...each and every one of the offensive coaches are going to get paid for next year...whether their with the Broncos or in CABO.

Then...they will be reunited with Shanny wherever he ends up. We'd better hope like hell...that Mickey D can turn this team into a contender before Shanny can take his new team to a Super Bowl.

If not, Bowlen is going to look like a fool that he very well may be!

Let's see what Junior can do for us. For the record, I think this was an assenine decision.

I really hope Shanny retains Bates/Slowick so we can laugh at another franchise for awhile. I'll take my chances with this new staff over anything we had, they were going nowhere fast. The day i worry about a Bates run offense and a Slowick run defense I'll just stop watching football.

From the looks of it McDaniels might have some real growing pains in his first season.

I just really hope our defense improves even a little.

Bates, Turner and Dennison leaving is sad because they were the last links to Mike Shanahan and his fabulous offense.

Other than that aspect, McDaniels should be allowed to bring in his own people and put his own imprint on this team. He's in charge.

In fairness, next years schedule is like nothing I have ever seen... Pain is coming no matter what. At least we will have a top 10 pick next year to help ease the pain ;D

I like the guy, Straight forward and confident but not too cocky. Did anyone watch New England games this year and see how quickly Cassel progressed after not starting a single game at QB since high school??

Can imagine what he will do with Cutler. Jay will get over losing Bates if he isn't retained with the title of "OC Quarterback coach" even though JM will do much of the QB coaching up, obviously and call all the plays.

Love the way he approaches the entire offense from the defensive perspective. With a big emphasis on Jay knowing just what the defense is doing before the ball snaps. ALA taking what the defense gives you and exploiting their shifts rather than simply trying to impose your own will on the defense. There are too may good defenses in this league to get away with that week in and week out.

Better to learn how to turn the defense's plans and strengths against them, lets give the kid two to three years to get us deep into the playoffs and to the SB no later than year 4, maybe even year 2 or 3. If he makes it next season he will be coach of the year hands down.

Jays TD to INT ratio is sure to go up substantially with McD calling the shots and that right there will be good enough for the playoffs ( doubt we lose 7 running backs next year)

No kidding. I thought Bowlen had some pull in the NFL. Somebody doesn't like him. That schedule looks like it was made up by Al Davis.
