Update on Spagnuolo
First let me say thank you for your time Broncos fans. You may not remember me, I had a message regarding Steve Spagnuolo recently. For reasons I can't get into here, I am familiar with his situation and for what this website affords, am posting his experience with DEN here. I may be admonished and am trying to change my writing style but I hope the right eyes see this.
It is our understanding that Josh McDaniels has the most pull in the DEN front office. Idea kicked around that Spags could be DC if McDaniels hired. Conversely, the idea of Spagnuolo as head coach - with McDaniels at OC and AHC - was presented to him.
They are prepared to offer McD a significant raise in pay and AHC status. They want to run the spread offense with Cutler, Marshall and Royal playing the Brady, Moss and Welker roles.
This is a problem because Spagnuolo would prefer running ball control to compliment strong defense and special teams.
Spags likes Cutler in a balanced, down the field attack. Told DEN he may approach current Giants QB Coach Chris Palmer about running a similar system.
The wheels are in motion and now he must return to his duty until further notice. It appears they want both McD and Spags. Keep your eye on it...

When I was following Nebraska's coaching change I remember all the rumors that BOTH of the top 2 candidates would be hired, one as an assistant and the other as the HC. It was obvious BS, but a couple posters swore it was true and some people ate it up.
Coaching changes are an entertaining time to see how much garbage people are willing to swallow.

Just rumors here and I don't want to give away too much, but...rumors circulating...from very reliable sources...Vince Lombardi has been contacted to haunt the Denver Broncos locker room and deliver rousing pregame speeches. Bowlen is offering a significant pay raise over what he gets to stay at Lambeau.
There may, however, be a conflict between Spags and Lombardi's preferred motivational techniques, so be watching this one closely. There's also a chance Rockne might come into the picture.

And Bowlen is flying out to Texas to try and talk Kubiak to play back-up QB for Jay (with a chance to be the starter if he can beat him out).

I don't doubt you would. But as I understand, via another thread, this is the same poster who has been giving pretty verbose reports on Spags. It just seems like too much effort for a joke. That said, I don't necessarily believe it either. I do believe the Broncos want both and might pursue both but I'm not so naive as to believe much will come of it.

It's is impossible to hire McDaniels or Spagnuolo for any position other than HC as the NFL does not recognize AHC or any other title as a promotion from OC or DC. There is no way possible for the Broncos to have both on their staff unless one is let out of the contract, which is highly unlikely their team would do that and even if they did - why would either take a lateral move when their both HCing candidates.
If you're going to make up a rumor, you need to know NFL rules first.

Not on the public forum he didn't. That's the stuff he saved for the people who wrote his pay checks. But he did share some of that knowledge. Eventually, he got sick of being second guessed and criticized for sharing the info. You'll notice he doesn't bother as much to do it any more.

This is complete speculation, and not even believable speculation. To think that Spags would leave NY to become our DC is insane, as is thinking McDaniels would come over to be our OC. We might get one or the other, but not both. You interview for the Big Job, and if you don't get it, you don't agree to a sideways move.

Here is what I heard;
Goodman promoted to full GM powers
Goodman rehires Shanny to be head coach and he accepts because after checking around the league Shanahan found out no team will give him anything more that a HC position and he realized the best HC job available is with the Denver Broncos.
Goodman, " Welcome back Mike now you can focus on being HC BTW Mike, Slowik is gone and we will take care of the DC hiring for ya, now go to work."
Pat says, "This one is for you TJ."

I've basically been skimming since the first few posts for a reply like this. This is true. Why on earth would McDaniels or Spags leave the best teams in the NFL to come rebuild in Denver working the SAME POSITION THEY ALREADY HAVE. NFL rules aside, even if it WERE possible to poach coordinators like that, what would be their motivation unless they were given a huge pay raise?
Rumor poster, i would like a response to the quoted post if you haven't already.
Looks like a bunch of bull**** to me. Some random internet dude has information the professionals do not? That's a new one. Nevermind the actual statements are inane -- two hot coaches giving up big bucks to move laterally across the board? C'mon.

In that case, I dont mind McD being the HC and Morris being the DC with AHC as his title.
But i would really love the idea of Spagz as HC and McD as AHC, With Pioli Coming in as GM.
What to believe, that is the question. One post says we are looking to hire a coach at no more then 2 million and this post says we want to hire 2 guys worthy of HC and give them both HC money.
Go figure.
