Just thought I'd bring this up again, I did over on BF and here earlier. There is a reason why I think he is the best player overall in this NFL Draft, and he's only a RS Sophomore. Not only the interception, but on the last series where he almost sacked Tebow in the backfield and then ended up coming back off the ground to finish him off on his scramble are evidence enough of the hard work and talent this kid has. Not to mention, the constant double and triple teams he has been drawing all night, and he has broken through them. Get this kid. The Tommie Harris potential and comparisons are apt.

He is a Beast. He is everywhere. Too bad he is a Soph. This guy is throwing OL around, and he is mean.

There's still a very good chance that he'll declare, although those chances slim if OU loses tonight. He's definitely on my short list for players at #12.

Great motor. Uses hands well. Can play all over the line. What's not to like?

Red-shirt Sophmore? Does that put him 3 years removed from HS, thus making him eligible for the draft? Whatever the case, he made himself some money last night.

Yes he's eligible. Been on the Gerald McCoy hype train for a few months now. Hopefully he declares, be a great pick up for us regardless of what kind of defensive front seven we run.

Wow, I had not watched OK yet this year until THU night as they did not have any DL that were Draft rated for this year. McCoy looked like Tommie Harris the other night, except he was playing a much higher % of snaps than Harris did @ OK. The Kid really impressed me, but since they lost I really sincerely doubt he would come out. If they won, why not? But he is a real Freakin Competitor chasing down Tebow 10 yards past the LOS for several Tackles.

Gonna have to get some more tape of the kid.

Just dig out a stash of Tommi Harris highlight reels from when he was in college and you'll be all set.

I'm seriously baffled by how Oklahoma did it but they've found a carbon copy of Tommi Harris, and this one might actually stay healthy.

I doubt he comes out but if he did it'd be the single best use of the #12 pick I think we could make.

I think that McCoy has a chance to be a similar player in the pros.

Harris would sometimes float a bit in games, though when he was "on" he was a player capable of disrupting the entire game. He had more of an impact than McCoy does at McCoy's height.

However, McCoy is more consistent. He'll play his butt off all day. He plays at a lower center of gravity as well.

If Gerald was available at 12 and we passed him up, I'd be ticked. Ive been bemoaning Shanny's inability to move up two stinkin slots to snag Harris since that draft.

Looks like McCoy may be unsure still. This from GBN:

Pittsburgh red shirt freshman RB LeSean McCoy, who had been expected to announce that he is declaring himself eligible for the 2009 draft on Friday afternoon, has reportedly decided to delay his decision after meeting this afternoon with Panthers’ coach Dave Wannstedt. McCoy had stated publicly back in October that he would be returning to school next fall, but recently had indicated that he had changed his mind and was likely headed for the draft.

Oops, wrong McCoy thread.

Yes,

Sophomore = 2 years
Red Shirt = 1 year
1+2=3

I would not be averse to drafting McCoy. He was definitely a huge factor in the NC game and its correct to point out that he may have been the single biggest reason Florida struggled to run. He and Bradford were easily Oklahomas two best players.

Additionally, drafting someone like McCoy, Rey Maualuga, Brandon Spikes or Everette Brown provides the opportunity to re-emphasize the front 7 instead of our old flawed way of builidng the team from the back to the front. Theres no way we should be drafting Taylor Mays when good front 7 players are available.

I like Mays, but agree that front 7 should take precedence. Gimme Tyson Jackson, Spikes, Cushing, Jerry or Raji.

McCoy was a monster in the bowl game, but with the 3-4 likely I don't see him being our guy any more...

Tyson Jackson, BJ Raji, or a underclassman will probably be the pick
