Ok here we go, I have a feeling that the next coach of the Broncos will be Jeff Fisher. Before you go calling me an a-hole let me tell you why. Of course it's just a gut feeling......
If it is really about winning the new coach needs to really be someone who can replace Shanny, not someone who could be great or has potential- more of these guys fail then succeed, but someone who already is great. I know Fisher and Shanny are friends. Also I sure Shanny will always have Bowlen’s ear and would strongly recommend Fisher.
Fisher has to want more control player personal. We have all heard the Cutler/Young talk, do a search and read any of the old threads. Also I doubt Fisher ever wanted Pacman. Bowlen could offer Fisher a larger role in Player personal.
Fisher would also get to work with Cutler, the QB he wanted.
Tennessee is a cheap team, Pat could should Fisher some money. Although if the rumors of Pat’s financial troubles are true, it would throw a wrench in the plan.
Who would not pick Denver over Nashville(or where ever they play)

They are all coordinators interviewing for a HC job. League rules permit Coordinators to accept HC jobs when under contract.

HC to HC is a lateral move

right on the money I have been thinking this for a while. Bowlen is waiting because if Fisher loses his first game he might become available. I think Andy Reid could also be a possibility, if they lose this week. Bowlen is definitely exploring all his options, and recently I heard fisher talking about his great relationship with Bowlen. I would love Fisher.

So we should judge this on how the mane will react?

He has fielded some very good teams. Who knows if he got to pick the players he wanted would he have a SB win?

Would this current team be better with Cutler at Qb over Young?

Thanks for that. Very helpful.

Here he would be HC who gets to pick the players he wants.

Steve Spagnuolo, Giants DC
Josh McDaniels, Patriots OC
Raheem Morris, Buccaneers DC
Rick Dennison, Broncos OC
Jason Garrett, Cowboys OC
Leslie Frazier, Vikings DC
Vince Lombardi
Todd Bowles, Dolphins AC

None of these guys has lead a team to a Superbowl win in the last 15 years.

I believe that if something like this were to happen we would have to surrender a high draft pick as compensation to the Titans.

I can't imagine Bowlen is going to give front office control to another HC for awhile. Once bitten, twice shy... so to speak.

Uhh :kiddingme

The draft pick compensation, the new contract.... Not worth it. Need the pickes to rebuild the defense, the money could be used on the new HC and free agents.

I'm pretty sure the ability to trade draft picks for a coach was squashed by the league after the Herm Edwards "trade" to KC.

What you continue to miss cutie pants is Fisher can not take another HC job because he is under contract to Titans and it is not allowed by NFL rules. So your "But he gets to pick the players" is irrelevant.

bowtown
01-08-2009, 09:16 AM
Not sure how it would work.

Well i think what Baja was getting at is that in order for Fisher to even be able to come over here, Bowlen would have to offer him a higher ranking possition than the one he has now, GM, or Tennesee would have to agree to terminate his contract. Otherwise it would be seen as a lateral move and the league would not allow it.

Fisher is not coming to the Broncos. Your gut is wrong. I recommend laying off the chili cheese fries. If I am wrong and the titans RELEASE him after this AMAZING year, then he just might sign with the Broncos if they haven't already signed another person as HC. I think the chances of the Titans letting Fisher get out from under his contract and I think that happening before the Broncos sign someone else is about a 0.4% chance of likelyhood. I think re-signing Shanny is at about 5%. Signing one of the 7 dudes we interviewed is at about 92%. My point is - Fisher at Denver = not going to happen this year.

I also agree with you.

Here is why

1. He has been hinting at leaving for years. He is a defensive coach and is great with the players.

Jeff wanted Cutler and would love to work with him. Jeff was Jays coach in the Senior bowl. Collins is getting old and Vince has become a problem.

2. Dinger would come and he loves Cutler. You should here him gush about Cutler.

I am dreaming but hey you never know. Denver is a heck of a job.

Proof Bud Adams picked Young

"That's the way Bud Adams envisioned things in 2006 when he sent word to his employees in Nashville that he wanted Young, the Texas Longhorns quarterback who was a high school star here, not far from where the Titans owner goes to work every day."

Some comments

My concern is that he will lose both Collins and Jeff Fisher next year. Jeff is a hot commodity, and he is no doubt frustrated by Bud's antics.

The Titans need to get rid of cry baby VY and cut their losses. He was a bad draft choice at #3. Should have got Jay Cutler.

Setting aside the contract issue, why would Fisher want to leave a team on the verge of a Superbowl for this abortion? Coaches want to win, and he's winning.

Urban Meyer has a greater chance of being our next coach than Fisher does...don't think that's happening either unfortunately.

Man-Goblin

Personally, I would rather trade DJ and Champ for Urban Meyer. You get them out of the conference and Urban Meyer would bring the spread offense.
