View Full Version : Jets won't receive pick for Robertson
The Broncos will not send a draft pick to the New York Jets after defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson played in roughly 50 percent of the defensive snaps last season, well below the 65 percent threshold that would have triggered a trade.
The Broncos had acquired Robertson last April in return for a conditional draft pick based on playing time. One condition was if Robertson played in less than 65 percent of the defensive snaps, the Broncos didn't have to compensate the Jets.
For now, the Broncos have nine picks in the 2009 draft — one in each of the seven rounds, plus an extra fifth-round pick from Seattle acquired in a trade for Keary Colbert and an extra seventh-rounder from Atlanta for Domonique Foxworth.
The Broncos could get higher than a seventh-round pick from Atlanta if Foxworth re-signs with the Falcons. An unrestricted free agent, Foxworth and the Falcons have opened preliminary negotiations on a new deal.

That certainly seemed to be the case but it's nice to see it CONFIRMED.
Plenty of ammo to go guns blazing after defensive players.

Who was the moron working for the Post or the RMN who estimated that it was between 58% and 65%? And where did they study math?

Anyone know how high the pick from the Falcons can be if Foxworth does resign.
According to most of my neighbors, he was ATL's best cornerback by seasons end.

The key word being "estimate." Jeff Legwold is the best beat writer in Denver. Guy really knows his stuff. Far from a moron.

I seriously doubt Legwold was the one to do the math. He may have written the article, but there is no way he was the one tracking Robertson's every snap. C'mon now. It has CU or CSU intern written all over it. Apparently, basic math is not a required course for journalism majors.

It would be great if he sign back with denver (new coaching staff) and Denver would get a free draft pick!

there seems to be a trend that when D players leave Denver they magically get better on other teams.

Huh? A trend? Honestly, I can't think of any.

Only notable player I remember getting better was Pryce.

And even with him, he's not doing anything now that he didn't do in Denver. He just tanked his last two years, but people forget how good he was before that.
He didn't improve after he left. He just went back to his old form that he had here.

He did improve the year after he left. 13 sacks if I recall coreectly. Now, he's got issues with his back and only show up occasionally.

Meh.. I'd rather have the higher pick.

The corner that went to Buffalo had a few good seasons
the corner that went to Detroit and made the pro bowl
there was a second round pick D lineman that went to SD that got his leg broke playing against Denver
Sorry I'm bad at remembering names maybe someone can help me out here.

Trevor Pryce's performances in 99 and 00 in Denver was better than what he's doing in Baltimore. So, while he improved over his last year in Denver in which he openly slacked off, the statement that he is improving over anything he did here is incorrect. He was better (or at worst, comparable) early on in Denver than he has been in Baltimore.

Berry hasn't improved in AZ over what he did in 2003 with Denver. For some reason, this myth has continued to perpetuate that he was just ok here and then went on to own the world in AZ. He had 11.5 sacks and a decent amount of tackles in part time duty here in 2003. He's had one good year in AZ, followed by injury-plagued seasons ever since.
I honestly don't know who the other guys are that you are referencing.
Regardless, there is no "trend" of scrubs leaving here and lighting it up after they leave. There are two or three high profile guys who performed well here, then left here and did well after they left, but that's it.
I want to see the names of all these defensive players who did NOTHING here and went on to be a good player somewhere else.
