I hate to say it but Ron Chico Rivera realized that in order to beat Manning he had to attack the pocket and force Manning to move. This took away his timing and didn't give him the chance to see the whole field.

I thought it was smart the way the Chuggers overloaded one side and rushed to a point on the field. The knew where Manning liked to set up and attacked that point forcing Manning into making a quick decision he didn't want, moving out of pocket, or forcing the ball.

It looked to me like rather than traditional tactics of beating the man in front of them SD rushers were trying to get to a point in the back field.

Any great QB can become an average qb if proper pressure is applied, look at Brady last SB and Manning last game.

Field position won SD the game but Mannings strength is seeing the field and throwing to his 2nd and 3rd or more options. It did not appear that he could see everything he usually does because he was getting redirected and forced to move his normal setup point.

Anyone else see the same thing?

Must be nice to gameplan around Jamal Williams.

Same Scheme thats always used to beat manning. Get him moving. PAts did it, chargers did it, Steelers Did it. They all have beaten them in big games.

It must be nice to have a D that can execute a game plan.

I wanted to see them go down 55-10 but had to point out that Chico had a good plan to disrupt Manning.

Too bad we never did it, just drop 8 guys into coverage and let him pick us to pieces.

I want a physical D in 2009, no more finesse.

Ya Shanny would just draft and sign another conerback...

Solid pass rush is better than having two all pro corners.

Didn't we beat them a few years back by sending like 9 guys at a time, not disguising it at all? Or maybe that was the Pats we beat. That defense used to crack me up, especially when it worked. It made everyone play like they were in Pop Warner again.

Agreed, that is why I wrote "Field position won the game" in my 1st post.

Not only was peyton pressured but he was calling stupid plays for minimal gains.

Chargers have been doing this for the last few years against IND.
