Falcons come into UoP stadium, which for perhaps the first time ever is truely and enthusiastically behind its own team. Kurt Warner's maturity and a strong passing game score points. A strong enough run D slow down turner and schems confuse a young Ryan leading to the Cardinals 28-21 victory.
The Colts will start slow but dominate the Chargers. The Chargers will realize the pretenders they are as they are overpowed by the first real football team they have played in a month. (Damn you Denver). Colts 34-21.
Baltimore very quietly had an AMAZING season. They lost only one game to a team that is not either the #1 or #2 seed in their conference and that one game was at Indy. Baltimore is playing great D and rookie QB Falco is strong. But despite their great play I'm going against this with a Miami team that has a huge chip on it's shoulder and a coach/GM combo which will have them ready and will take advantage of a rookie QB who won't be prepared for the game to speed up again. This might be my worst pick given the facts above but I am going with Miami 21-17 in a nailbiter.
Finally, to finish out the weekend the Eagles surge into the playoffs with dominating defense and strong offense. However, nothing they bring can stop an amazing running game from Minnesota... Peterson carries his team on his back. Minnesota squeaks one out 24-20
As for the rest of the playoffs...
Indy's great run and all of MVP Manning's heroics come to an end as they can't stop the super strong running game of the Titans and their passing game is frustrated enough to make it somewhat anemic. Tennessee wins 24-17
Miami's surprising win over Baltimore does not last long as they run into a stout Pittsburgh which runs all over Miami. Final, Pittsburgh 28-14
No contest as the Giants welcome the Cardinals to the real playoff atmosphere. Giants completely dominate the Cardinals 24-10
In probably the best game of the week two strong running games run right into each other but Carolina gets the edge with Steve Smith breaking free to score two TD's on his own. Carolina 23-19
In the early game on the 18th the Giants and Panthers re-match. It's a tough classic slugfest with the edge going to the defending champions. They outlast the Panthers with a strong forth quarter as the panthers wear down.
Giants 28-26
The late game features Tennessee hosting Pittsburgh in a re-match of #1 seed sweepstakes near the end of the season. That game close in the first half was dominated by the titans in the latter half. But, this time a seasoned playoff team with renewed vigor stops the strong running game of the Titans and frustrates Collins with two 2nd half picks. Pittsburgh wins 28-24
Superbowl
Two stored franchises. Steelers going for number 6 and outright lead in SB wins. Giants going for number 4 and second straight to start the legacy talk. In this one the Giants strong D shuts down the Steelers and the very balanced and yet stout running and passing attack of the Giants take their toll on the Steelers w/ the Giants pulling out at the end. Giants get ring number 4 in a somewhat defensive struggle. Giants 21-17 final score.
There you go... no need to even watch!
