Look it's football and I've been with these guys since the early 70's but it's just football. You want something to cry about? Go visit a children's hospital, see a loved one in the ER, find something in life that's really worth mourning, think about those lost in Iraq and their familiy's Christmas or holiday. Those deserve tears and weeping.

Shanny is fine and never has to work again if he doesn't want to. You most likely will be working until you drop, even if it means as a greeter at WalMart. Say Hi to Mike when he walks in--oops wait, he will never have to shop there. The Bronco's will be fine. You will be fine but it's a great moment to think about how much perspective you may have lost if this is really a devastating event for you.

I'm not unsympathetic, it came as a shock to me too, but it's just football. AND NO ONE DIED:bash:

Guy, you are the most emotional, insecure, angry, omega male on this board. Just because you kicked around in life doesn't mean you can come on a message board and change your life.

Change happens within, my friend. The next time that jerk gives you a snide comment at the bar, say something back, don't sit there and get mad inside that you don't have the balls to say what you want to say.

Sure, you can be yourself here, but that doesn't change who you are in REAL LIFE. Standup for yourself man. Don't let people push you around. Say what you got to say. And if people don't like you, who cares. Because pretty much, people don't like you for being a chump.

God bless you man.

Wow, and compared to some of the other posters I was afraid I wasn't going to hold my own, and here I am taking "most" in 4 different personality categories! Thanks for the kudo's and words of encouragement!

I was a little stunned at first but I didn't cry by any stretch.

I did almost cry in the baby ward at a hospital once.

To even compare football to sick kids is stupid. Using that thinking you should never be upset. Your wife leaves you and takes the kids, well don't feel bad there are kids with cancer. You lose your job but who cares at least you don't have a tumor in your ass.

You can go on and on.

It sucks the Broncos stink. It sucks Shannahan had to leave because of it. It sucks the Chargers are going to the playoffs instead of us. The fact it would suck more to see little kids dying in a hospital doesn't really do much for me.

Basically all that means is along with the Broncos sucking, little kids are dying in hospitals.....what's so great about that?

BS. Being upset is fine. I didn't say people shouldn't react. The meltdown factor at the mane for losing a coach, however, needs perspective, relativism or not.

And since this is a football board, I figured I'd post about that here.

Why not? What position do I need to be in? It happens here a lot.

TJ is free to delete the thread or move it to the butt. Fine with me. But for all so offended, how come?

I get tired of people telling other people what they can feel and what they can't. Just because you don't feel something or do doesn't mean others have to feel the same. My particular favorite are those that say if you don't support the Broncos decisions should become a fan of another team.

I'm sure those that are brought to tears by this situation know it does not to compare to true life changing situations. That doesn't mean they don't have the right to feel bad about this one. This guy was a big part of a lot of our lives and brought us each some great memories.

I agree. I wasn't thrilled about it at first either. My intent wasn't to dictate anyone's feelings just keep them in perspective that's all.

i am NOT comparing football to the suffering at childrens hospital or anywhere else in the world (i just found out recently that my step mom, who my dad married a couple months ago 9 years after my mother died of cancer has cancer also), but its NOT "just football".

thats just my opinion of course, but its MUCH more than "just a game".

to quote a line from the movie "fever pitch":

clearly its not "just a game" or i wouldnt care this much.

no, it doesnt compare to the many sufferings around the world or here at home, but its also much more than "just a game".

just my .02.
