The rumor is that Shanahan refused to fire Slowik. So honestly, given the amount of vitirol thrown at Slowik this year, was it worth losing Shanahan over him?
Shanahan and Slowik next year vs. whoever the hell our coach is and his new DC.

You are not just losing Shanahan, you are also losing Denison, Turner, and Bates. Shanahan will take all of them with him. Even if he doesn't, the answer to your question is no.

Hard to say. Slowik didn't have the players in place to run his scheme, so who knows?
All I know is that one of the best offensive minds in football saw something in that scheme, and was willing to go down with him after so many years with the organization. Seems like there might be more to it than meets the eye.

The firing of Shanahan has really to do with the power trip that mike shanahan was on, and not slowdick. I have suspected for a while now that mike was powertripping and losing complete focus of his authority as GM and HC.
Bowlen and mike were close friends. Bowlen stated mike was DENs coach for life. But i guess Bowlen should have made a disclaimer with that statement.
(As long as mike doesnt make consistent bonehead moves which set the franchise back years)
Change, guys. It happens.
