We know how much Pat Bowlen loves John ... (almost lost the team back to Kaiser when he offered John sweetheart ownership interest).
Will John Elway be named GM here soon?
I say better than a 50-50 chance.

I hope they get someone that can evaluate talent and knows how to run an NFL franchise.
If they hire John because he is John ****ing Elway then we are in bigger trouble.

John has been angling for a position for a long while .... Bowlen tried to give him a sweetheart 10% ownership and nearly lost the team back to Edgar Kaiser, remember? This could happen .....

Nobody knows how well Elway is at evaluating talent. Hard to say if he'd be a good GM or not.

How about this: Jim Goodman as VP/Personnel, and John as President/face of froint office?
I think John and Bowlen are close, and I know from very good sources that John has hungered for an FO position since he retired.

Yes, John up on the mount, astride the white Bronco...creating old times with a wave of his hand.
And THEN, just when things look bleak
He leaps from his steed, clad in orange and "7", and comes to save the day!
So let's see, in a space of less than 24 hours we have Shanny gone, Bowlen to give a presser, chaos in the ranks, no official opinions from Elway, drunken and erratic fans calling radio, to Elway running the show.
