Bowlen says he wants a "young, offensive" head coach to help "develop Jay Cutler."

He is on vaction. None of the players knew. It was the BOLT out of the Blue.

Let's not get crazy... If there was ONE THING Mike Shanahan COULD do it was developing great QB's. If anything, I think Cutler is pretty pissed off right now. It will be interesting to see what he has to say about this, that's for sure.

This is all so crazy. I don't know how I feel about this. If all our offensive talent goes to waste because of this move I might get seriously depressed. I mean SERIOUSLY depressed.

BULLSHIAT! I'd be willing to bet that certain players had a lot to do with this. Especially when you have players that no longer play for a coach. I know some of you didn't notice this (Taco, I'm talking to you!) but Mike Shanahan lost this team when he benched Plummer for Cutler. I personally thought it was a good move, but Shanny never recovered with several of the players.

No. CBS 4 on TV just played an interview of Cutler. He was surprised, and pretty ticked. He said "I feel its the wrong move" or something of that sort.

Just what we need, a defense that already blows, and now our franchise QB potentially getting stuck with a HC that doesn't know how to handle a QB's Talents.

Our only hope is letting Jeremy Bates remain play caller.

Dude... if you're not counting the rookies from that year, there's like 3 dudes left from that regime.

Ekuban. Bailey. Nalen (if you count that).

...and, uhhhhhhh?

Did Jay Cutler have a say in this firing?

IF Bowlen listened to a 3rd year QB on personal decisions -- that's one way to create chaos on a young team...

Lets hope that Bowlen was indeed drunk -- we dont need help on offence anyway....and how in the hell is a young guy going to be qualified on his inexperince alone -- I know it works if gunning for the presidency, but this is more important... :wiggle:

John Elway was consulted before he fired Reeves, that's a matter of record. So I didn't think this was a stretch, especially after Bowlen said he wanted a coach to "develop Cutler."

Well, those players should be tossed out (unless it includes Champ he can do what he wants...)

IF the players have that much control in Denver (which I dont think is the case) then it would be another reason we imploded this year.

And which players from that season that were still here this season are you referring to?

QB: Cutler? I don't think he'd have issues with the move.
RB: Tatum Bell? Hmmm, That's why he fumbles!
FB: no
TE: no
WR: no
Oline: Played at the highest level we've seen in a VERY long time.
Dline: The only one, off the top of my head, Ekuban... wait.. Dumervil... THAT'S why he regressed right? The rest are awful to begin with anyway..
LB: Williams? Well he was hurt all year so he doesn't apply.
CB: Champ was hurt, but even if he wasn't, there's no way in hell he doesn't go all out because of some stupid grudge.
S: No

No offense but.. that theory holds absolutely no water when you are talking about the 2008 season.

Cutler already has stated he doesn't like the move, you should watch CBS 4

I'm fairly sure most of the offense is going to be pretty disappointed with this move. The defense on the other hand.... who knows. I'm sure Slowik is pretty sad now lol. There is absolutley no way he returns next year now.

Actually rumor has it Shanahan was fired because he refused to fire slowik.

We need somebody to keep the offense high powered. We have the personell for it. Mike was fired because the defense sucked and Pat wasn't having any of Slowik for next year. I'm sure he's seen the stat sheet too and wasn't impressed. I expect Pat will bring in a good offensive coach who will bring in somebody qualified to build a defense. Compared to Slowik that could be damned near anybody.

We need a defensive guru not more of the same. I think Bowlen has a big name or two to drop into those slots. You don't fire Shanny for Goldman and Bates.

The "move" that i'm referring to is not Bowlen firing Shanahan but Shanahan replacing Jake with Jay, which, as you could imagine (and i could be wrong), Jay probably had no problem with.

you should watch CBS 4

I thought Shanahan deserved one more year, but after Slowik's comments and especially after Shanahan said he was going to retain him, my support for Mike went way down. I don't know how anyone can see Slowik's record with the crap he put on the field and think that deserved a second showing. Pathetic all the way around.

Shut up Jay. You play for the Denver Broncos, not the Denver Shanahan's.

Grow up kid, and you have alot of growing you need to do, and just sit back and be the team captain you are supposed to be.

It's more than just wearing a C on your chest kid.

You (Jay) need to learn a few things about being a NFL quarterback. Your not John Elway, Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly. You are Jay nobody until you win.

So until then shut up and roll with it.

Jay Cutler could use to learn a lot about the NFL from damn near anyone on this board.

This isn't college where you pick a program based on the coach or the academic program. This is the NFL. You get picked by an organization to win games for that organization. Doesn't matter who picked you or when, once you're drafted/signed you belong to that organization. The fans get it, we cheer for the laundry. Stop wearing our colors and we largely don't care. Fail to win when wearing our colors? We care a whole lot, in a negative way. The coach is immaterial because he's under contract to wear the laundry we all pull for on Sundays for the next three years, minimum.

If personal attachments mean more to him than a successful NFL career then good for him, throw a fit and watch yourself get black balled out of the league. Good QBs come around all the time, there are only 32 organizations that pay you great money to play football.
