View Full Version : We will regret this...
I'm saying it now: it won't take long for everyone to realize how good we had it with Shanahan. There is no coach out there who will make the broncos a better team. Shanny detractors will be eating their words. Mark it down.

Sorry, I can't concur. There are many coaches who will make the Broncos a better team (in all 3 phases) and there are TONS of guys who will handle personnel evaluation better than Coach Shanahan. Besides, you make the decision and you move on--no point in looking back at this point and definitely no room for regret.

I agree.
A new message might help the team, but there is no coach that can do what he did with this team this past year..
WTF in deed? WTF! I still cant believe this crap.

Shanahan isn't exactly god. This is the business system, and Shanahan did get a little too comfortable with his position.
I'm exciting to see who he brings in, and I'm sure it's a hard decision for Pat more than any of us. But he's an owner, and this is business.
Shanahan will have a job in no time...

We could very well end up regretting this, especially if Shanny ends up coaching another AFC West team.
Coaching changes are a huge gamble. If Bowlen makes the wrong choice he could drive this franchise into the ground and we'll be on here talking about the good old days when an 8-8 season was a horrible season.

TacoJohn -.please. We know you want to get rid of Mike Shanahan, so go ahead and get it out of your system now. Pretty soon, though, it's going to be clear that Shanahan is going nowhere, and the focus will no longer be on whether Shanahan should be here or not, but what happens next.
So get it out now, but please - when that focus shifts to reality, lets keep the discussion on the moves the Broncos are making, and not the man, and have a productive offseason of discussion.
Oh well

One more year was warranted, I'm sorry but it was. Shanny had the makings of an offense he could dominate with going forward. I'm nervous about what lies ahead.

Eras end, folks. Shanahan was and still is a very good coach, but he is not infallible and showed it over the last 3 years. Bowlen has always done right by this organization and its fans and one only look as far as the Shanahan hire for proof. Bowlen will not settle but will insist on quality from his new coach and staff, which is reassuring considering organizations like the Lions and others do not. It's gonna be ok, folks. Breathe.

About 13-14 years ago, when Jimmy Johnson left the 'Boys, Jerry Jones said there were 500 coaches who could step in and win.
He's now down to 494 left to try.
Maybe Shanny will be missed, maybe not, it all comes down to the players. Get the right mix and you will have a winner.

There are 2 other phases of the game that were pure crap. One cannot win even a division with one good phase and 2 bad ones. As singletary says, 'Can't do it'.
Mark it down This is going to be very good for the Broncos We will get back to Broncos football ie playing all out something we have not done since Plummer and Al Wilson left and they were both dissed going out the door.
There is no coach out there that will make the Broncos a better team?
Shanahan isn't exactly god. This is the business system, and Shanahan did get a little too comfortable with his position.
There is no available coach who could do what Mike did this year, and that will carry over to the future.
Shanahan will have a job in no time...
That's a pretty good sign he's a coach worth keeping.

Not sure how I feel yet, but certain possibilities make me uncomfortable.
He goes to the Chiefs...possibly bad situation for us.
Chargers fire Norv...possibly really ****ing bad situation for us.
That said, the front office can't be worrying about where he goes. We need to worry about what will make our team better.
Do we need to hire a GM first?

As Chargers fan I can honestly say I am glad to see Rat gone. I can admit now that he was a damn good coach and a thorn in our side for many years.
I could only imagine the wonders he could do with LT, Gates, Rivers etc..

Shanahan's been the coach almost longer than I've been a fan but since the Super Bowl wins he has 1 playoff win in 9 years??? That doesn't cut it, and there was too much talent not to win back in 97/98.

We should have kept Shanny here long after he had died... kinda like Oakland with Al Davis. Change will do this team a ton of good, Mark my words.

Um, no. Name guys available this year (not cowher) who will improve all three phases of the team.
I agree on personnel evaluation, but a GM could do that with Mike still coaching.
No point looking back=not learning from mistakes.

You are ****ing moron. Sorry, but honestly, don't expect any ****ing slack when you make stupid comments like this. Any improvements made on defense AT ALL will make this team one win better for next year. The real question is.. is there any coach on the market in this offseason who could have won 8 games THIS season with THIS team and THIS defense. I don't think so. The man created an entire offense of great players (sans RB due to injuries) with basically 3 drafts and some signings that, if handled correctly, could last 8 years and beyond. Get a ****ing clue.

Damn, you dumb! What makes you think we have 8 years to keep guys together? It's completely unrealistic to expect to keep guys together that long with free agency, injuries etc. You gotta make progress and win now when you have the talent.
