Although it is just out that Shanny is gone, I have to trust that we have great owner who is not willing to stand pat with Mediocre performance.
Pat wants to get back to the super bowl, and it was becoming clear that Shanahan wasn't going to get us there. Now we have to wait and see what he has in mind...but I am confident that we have an owner committed to getting there!

I think Bowlen has a plan. Ballsy move indeed and glad we have a gutsy owner.

I'm sure it was a tough call, given the two guys' relationship as friends. That's what makes the decision even more admirable, IMO. Bowlen just reinstated a culture at Dove Valley--a culture that sends a message to every player that failure is not tolerated here. I'm ok with the move.

Denver still has to pay Shanahan $20 over three years. I don't think Bowlen can afford a sexy name to replace him with.

This was a move that needed to be made. Shanahan needs a change of scenery as much as the Broncos need a change at the top. Now hope fully Bowlen will bring in a defensive minded coach, that'll kick some of these players in the ass and not accept anything less than 100% effort.
Way to go pat, This is the tough kind of decisions I want to see from my owner.

Schefter just said that they "used" to be very close friends and that he conversation lasted no longer than 5 minutes, and Shanahan went back to his office and cleared out right after. Don't know how close they still were.

Wait to the end of the year, and hopefully we wont be cursing his name...
We have 7 different runningbacks this year, half of our defence goes down with injuries, an incredible draft last year, and your ok with it?
IF he has someone better in mind, I would like to know who the hell that is....
There are not many good coaches out there, except Shanny that is...
You are all insane.
I second that -- insane AND freaking spoiled rotten -- anyone rememember Reeves, or much worse yet Phillips?
What's the worst season we have had with Shanny? This year ranks up there, but with the injuries we have had, that should be a consideration. When we got to the Superbowl twice, we avoided the injury bug.

Umm...Reeves? Reeves was a fine coach for the Broncos until the last few years.

Thirded.
But the dumbasses who are and will be coming out of the wordwork praising this move are the worst.

I still don't buy the 5 minute thing, but maybe Pat is a Bronco fan as well and got just as pissed as some of us at watching the crap we fielded. Our defense sucked in 2007 and somehow we managed to get worse this year. I appreciate Shanny and the 2 SB years but his time has come and gone.

10 years of mediocrity. Ownership had the guts to make a move even though it may not be popular. Good move for you guys. Applause to Bowlen.

He better have a ****ing plan this is a huuuuuuuuuuuge move and could mean millions of dollars.
Change! It finally has happened!
I thought it was some sick joke at first...
Thank you Mr Bowlen for restoring my faith in you. This was far overdue for this franchise.
Now we begin a new journey!

So because we've had less than exciting coaches in the past we keep our headcoach that has displayed he is clueless at defense and special teams, year after year after year. Thank God Pat did the right thing. By the way the defense they fielded completely healthy was still an embarrassment.
