1. Press or t.v., agents or advisors, family or wives, friends or relatives, fans or hangers on, ignore them on matters of football, they don’t know what’s happening here.
2. Don’t forget to have fun, but don’t be the class clown. Clowns and leaders don’t mix. Clowns can’t run a huddle.
3. A quarterback throws with his legs more than his arms. Squat and run. Fat quarterbacks can’t avoid the rush.
4. Know your job cold. This is not a game without errors. Keep yours to a minimum. Study.
5. Know your own players. Who’s fast? Who can catch? Who needs encouragement? Be precise. Know your opponent.
6. Be the same guy everyday. In condition, preparing to lead, studying your plan. A coach can’t prepare you for every eventuality. Prepare yourself and remember, impulse decisions usually equal mistakes.
7. Throwing the ball away is a good play. Sacks, interceptions, and fumbles are bad plays..Protect against those.
8. You must learn to manage the game. Personnel, play call, motions, ball handling, proper reads, accurate throws, play fakes. Clock, clock, clock, don’t you ever lose track of the clock.
9. Passing stats and td passes are not how you’re gonna be judged. Your job is to get your team in the endzone and that’s how you’re gonna be judged.
10. When all around you is in chaos, you must be the hand that steers the ship. If you have a panic button, so will everyone else. Our ship can’t have panic buttons.
11. Don’t be a celebrity quarterback. We don’t need any of those. We need battlefield commanders that are willing to fight it out everyday, every week, and every season, and lead their team to win after win after win.

Which of the 11 Bill Parcells QB Commandments would you say Jay breaks on a consistent basis? If any, #s 9 and 10 are where Cutler needs to improve. Some may dog on him for not taking the team to the promised land already, but we can all agree he's on the right path for a brilliant future.
(And as much as I hate to admit, Rivers has done a good job of fitting into some of these ideals. He's still a douche, though, but that's for another day.)

#7--he RARELY if EVER throws the ball away--he is always looking to make a play.
#9 is irrelevant until we get a bellcow RB who can consistently score in the red zone.
#11--Romo he is not.---thats a good thing.
I have no idea about the others.......

#10. Cutler's decisions are a product of handling chaos marginally. He's like Marty McFly when his buddies called him a chicken. He just HAS to say something quote worthy about Rivers rather than keeping a cool hand and head and giving a simple appeasement quote. When he rips his own defense in the press, it's because he's looking out for his own best interests and not the team's. He's not a captain yet and lacks an ability to calmly navigate through chaos in any useful way.

He needs to read number 7 every morning when he wakes up and right before bed.

Hard to manage or learn to manage a game when the Head guy in charge put's you in no win situations and basically is making you the 2008 version of John Elway...
Win by the gun, lose by the gun.

Sorry dude, maybe you should seen for about the last 5 years the defense hasn't shown up. I thought it was given. Jay played far from a perfect game.

BMarsh, on the other hand, looked like he wanted to rip out Rivers' arms from their sockets at the north endzone right before the game.

He has a problem with #1.. he needs to tell his dad to stay away from practice, and just sit in the stands and root for him.

I'll never forget what Gradishar told myself and some other fellow omaners right at the gates of Dove Valley. In a raspy voice he said "Shanny runs a resort not training camp". Somehow I think the boys in Miami got a big tuna up their asses when they walked into camp this season. They are in the playoffs. Our boys are left making excuses why we suck.

Meck that how all the training camp are the days. They aren't old school smash mouth days of the 50s, 60s, 70s and early 80s. It different era and differnt method of training compared to years ago.

I know I've probably been to over 40 training camp practices over the last 8 years. Our guys spend a lot of time dancing around having fun. Our guys are well rested when the season starts and then we fade, injuries set in, and we all make excuses. Do what you've always done and get what you've always gotten. Meanwhile average teams make us look like a bunch of girls on the field. So I have to ask how many training camps have you personally watched lately?
My gut says our weakness in camp is indictive of the way our team practices.

I have been the skins camps - one under Gibbs and one under Zorn - same thing you saw and I was at Parcell camp with giants, since a friend was close with back-up QB. And the Parcell camp was physical but there was a lot joking going on.
Plus you also watch the Hard Knocks series see the same thing.
