4. NFL FRAUD ALERT: (A) Denver coach Mike Shanahan was 54-18 (inc. postseason) with John Elway as his QB. That’s a winning percentage of .750. Since Elway retired, Shanahan’s winning percentage is .557, including a 1-4 record in the playoffs, and the Broncos are 17-22 in their last 39 games. And they just staggered to one of the worst late-season chokes in NFL history, failing to make the playoffs after holding a three-game lead through Week 14. (B) Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden. Since winning the Super Bowl with Tony Dungy’s players in 2002, Gruden is 45-53. (C) Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Since the start of the 1997 season, the Cowboys are 95-102, and that includes an 0-5 mark in the playoffs. If Jones has built such an elite franchise, please explain why he’s won fewer games than the Rams (who are 98-104) since the start of the 1997 season? Please explain why the laughingstock Rams have won six postseason games to the Cowboys’ ZERO since the beginning of the 1997 season?

Have to agree--John made the whole franchise better than it was with some help from TD, Rod Smith and a DEF led by Alfred Williams and a DLine that played with enthusiasm and actually stopped people on occasion.

Is this the same arguement? Do the players make the coach? or does the Coach make the players?

Can't blame Shanny for three unforeseen injuries (Al Wilson, Champ Bailey and Hillis) that cost him a handful of games and two more postseason appearances in 2006 and 2008. If those injuries don't happen, there's no way he makes this list.

I agree, but somehow Shannahan still gets all the blame from everyone. It will take a lot more then an 8-8 season or missing playoffs 3 straight years for me to give up on him. Even the Lions are thinking about bringing back their coach after going 0-16.

How about 1 playoff win and 1 division title in 10 years? How about 4 playoff appearances in 10 years? What will it take for people like you to wake the hell up?

By the way, I don't know where you got your Lions news because Marinelli was fired today.
