View Full Version : 2009 draft - day one
As enjolras and other wrote about in another thread:

I'm also looking at the silver lining. Specifically, which position do you think we target for...
Round 1?
Round 2?
Round 3?
And while we're at it, you'll get bonus points for Round 4. 8')

The biggest need is still along the defensive line. If there is an all-pro linemen (particularly end) available, you go for it.
However, I think the smart pick is a middle linebacker. If Laurinitis is available, that is your pick. Great linebackers can make up for a lot. You won't be a dominate defense without a very good front four, but linebackers give you a lot of options that we just don't have right now. So round 1, I think is middle linebacker.
After that your drafting value throughout the defense. Safety is a huge priority, but we may be able to fill that in free agency. Again, linebackers can cover up for poor safety play in a lot of circumstances.
The wild-card is kicker. I'm not sure if there are any great kickers available, but it would be completely worth looking into one in the 4th round or beyond.

just drafting an end or linebacker means nothing, we drafted an end in jarvis moss, we drafted a linebacker in terry pierce
so it was all fixed right?
WRONG
EPIC FAIL!!!

I don't normally respond to Wolf's drivel, but in this case it's worth mentioning that we selected Pierce because we thought we couldn't resign Al Wilson. Once Wilson came back, we tried to stick Pierce at SAM and he ended up out of the league.
Had he actually got to play MLB, he probably would have turned out ok.

You're right Wolf! These holes can never be filled. Why even try? Just fold the team, contract the league. The Broncos are done! Those holes are unfillable!

hey dumbo, why not try the alternative
hire a new coach, a general manager with a proven track record.
people that can evaluate nfl talent on defense, people that can coach defense, people that can evaluate nfl talent on special teams, people that can coach special teams.
Novel idea eh?

You got wedgied a lot a kid didn't you.
The Goodmans have shown a eye for finding talent, I highly expect with them in place the we continue to see improvement in the draft. You're bitching about Moss and Crowder but both were brought in the request of Bates, and he moved on.
With the injuries, players that should have be on ST ended up playing in starting units, that hard way to keep a ST good.

You must have some life, parading around here non stop with absolutely nothing to contribute other than your nonsense which at times is barely legible or understandable. I am correct in saying you jumped on the Shanahan bandwagon after one of our wins this season?
We have to draft a stud MLB or saftey, Id much rather we went after a stud DE in FA as our positional coaching staff seemingly can't coach up young players to ammount to jack there so we'd probably just have another bust on our hands

Question: You criticize the guy for saying we need to bring in better evaluators and coaches, then you post something like this? :kiddingme
