I can't understand why Slowick just doesn't drop back the Safeties on 3rd down, allow/make Champ and Bly "Jam" opposing receivers and see what freaking happens!!
No doubt the odds are the Defense gets off the field and stop teams on 3rd down and long allot more than the D is doing now.
Slowick could also disguise Blitz packages when the CB's are jamming/bump-n-run with opposing WR's as well.
Slowick needs to put his Defense in position to make plays and force the issue!! Make the dam QB at least hold the ball longer, and disrupt the timing btwn QB and his WR's!!!
Slowick on Sunday evening must use the Safeties drooping back and keeping the WR's in front of them. The Broncos will reduce the chances of getting beat deep and this allows Champ and Bly to recover and catch up to the ball. This will also give the DE's a chance to get coverage sacks or force the QB to make ill-advised throws which usually result in INT turnovers!!! River's would make more ill-advised throws which would benefit the Broncos D and perhaps result in turnovers/interceptions or fumbles.
In fact, the jamming of WR's and making the safeties have deep ball coverage and responsibility, this is the half-time scheme adjustment Slowick should do, b/c SD is already preparing to attack Slowicks current scheme of allowing the CB's to play 10-12 yards off the receivers.
Screw the Safeties having run support (RESPONSIBILITY)......thats why you have linebackers and a Defensive front 4!!! If SEVEN players (the front Seven) can't stop the run---THEN IT JUST WASN'T MEANT TO HAPPEN IN 2008!!!!!
Come on Slowick....put your Defense in position to be successful and come up with turn overs. Put the players in position to be successful!! GET INSIDE RIVER'S HEAD---give him different coverages to READ!!!
