if i were Bowlen, the most important thing i'd work on this offseason is getting back home field advantage for the Broncos. whatever needs to be done off the field to make Invesco a more hostile environment or unpleasant experience for the visiting team, the better.

what suggestions would you guys say to Bowlen on how to accomplish this?

you never know, one of the Denver sports writers might see this thread and decide it's a good idea for a column and actually get the ball rolling on makin some sorts of changes.

for one thing, on cold days like this, i'd have the heat in the visiting locker room mysteriously stop working. ;)

What would help is the Broncos to stop coming out flat so much at home. That alone would help. Having a defense that could make stops would be nice, but Shanahan doesn't seem to worry about this. The Chargers fired their DC at midseason when getting poor results.

Move the crowd closer to the field?

Use a first day draft pick on a RB?

Yeah, it was the crowd's fault the Broncos went 4-4 at home this year.

It was the crowd's fault that Buffalo scored on 6 straight drives. It was the crowd's fault that Buffalo had incredible field position for most of the day. It was the crowd's fault that Denver couldn't get any pressure on Edwards after the 2nd series. It was the crowd's fault that Denver lost to 3 sub-.500 teams at home this year.

Anything else I missed today that was the crowd's fault?

Maybe you should wonder why Denver gets no respect from the press again, instead of thinking anything that has happened this season had anything to do with the crowd.

All of the above. And find a coach that INSPIRES his players, if the above doesn't do it next year. Players take cues from the coaches. When they come out flat or fail to perform, that can be laid at the coaches feet too.

Nothing should be taken for granted....and play calling can have as much of an effect as execution. some of our players didn't execute today...and some of play calls were just what the Bills needed to inspire them.

So, maybe we can think about the RB situation we might have next year.....Aparantly this team has their head up their ass

i never mentioned the crowd. home field advantage has many components. altitude. weather. facilities. etc.

i've read on here complaints that ushers will tell the crowd to quiet down if they get too loud. is that true? if so, that's one easy change to make.

they didn't come out flat. Please quit saying that. When the gameplanning was nullified later in the game and it came down to talent we just cant compete right now on the defensive side of the ball.

If I was Bowlen I would also fix Cutlers audio receiver in his helmet...Why the **** is it that every home game Jay has to run over to the sideline to get the next play?? Are we jamming the wrong single lol????

I was surrounded by Bills fans yesterday, just as I was Oakland, Miami, Tampa and New Orleans fans. Interestingly, San Diego was the only team whose fans didn't take over my entire section. My girlfriend doesn't like coming to Broncos games anymore because she feels uncomfortable being around so many rowdy fans from the other team. In her words, "I feel like we're the road team every week." Obviously that's a bit of an exaggeration, but after going to stadiums like the Superdome, M&T Bank Stadium and FedEx Field and seeing few-to-no visiting gans - I'm just amazed at the number of visiting fans at Invesco week after week. Furthermore these fans are so cocky and loud with no repercussions. Hell, you feel scared just walking into M&T Bank Stadium wearing the visiting colors - and if you do you best remain quiet. At Invesco, the visiting fans are the loudest/most intimating ever week. Considering the Broncos long history, this really surprised me.

Welcome to Invesco Field Football.

That's not the problem. The problem is the team is below average and the fans here are tired of forking over their money to watch their team lose in a heartbreaking fashion. It's a down economy and people here are going to elect to spend their money on things other than $40 parking, $120 tickets, $20 concessions in the cold so their team can lose.

The best way to take advantage of a home field is to get a good defense. Home field takes away the ability to audible and so defenses get the advantage. If your defense sucks then there's no other real advantage of playing at home.

4-4, 5-3, 4-4 the last 3 years...MIKEY himself has said just what you have Kaylore--that the advantage of playing at home is being able to hear your own calls/audibles/snap counts---now why has he not been able to construct a team to take advantage of this --that is another story.

what NFL team has this advantage? WE USED TOO.

Over the last 5 seasons:

DEN:
4-4,5-3, 4-4, 8-0, 6-2=27-13 (not bad--but notice the trend?)

PIT:
6-2,7-1,5-3,5-3, 8-0=31-9

IND:
6-2,6-2,8-0,7-1,7-1= 34-6

my point is that a lot of teams used to....the NFL is watered down more and more every year
