Plain and simple. The decision to try a 54 yard field goal is what cost them the game. Shanny's game management is atrocious. I know Prater was 5-5 beyond 50 but what was the temp? What's Prater's success rate of late? The ball was probably hard as a rock. Why take the chance and give the Bills a short field with our crappy D right before half? It's simple decisions like this that Shanny f's up time and again. Blame Slowik, blame Cutler, blame ST. ITS ALL ON SHANNY!

yeah that, the marshall fumble, the winborn idiocy on that 60+ yards pass right after we go up 17-13, the pick, and missing the wide open wideout on 3rd down.
Oh and the fact that we once again didnt even get a ****ing turnover was pretty goddamn costly too.

I agree. At that point, Buffalo was struggling in the passing game. Punting them would have taken the run out of the equation but by giving them the ball at the 45, they were able to run the ball. If we would have just punted into the endzone, that would have been 25 yards and that was huge.

Remember the play during the Carolina game when it was near halftime, why even run a play to Selvin Young and he fumbles and the game was loss then.

The FG is a calculated risk that i cant blame them for TOO much. But earlier that drive, the 1st and 20 QB sweep play that resulted in a 6 yard loss was inexcusable...it killed the momentum of that drive and thats a play that gains 5 yards tops...made zero sense. That right there is your turning point.

Good point. This has been going on for years. When was the last time we reached the two minute warning with all of our timeouts? His game management is terrible.

Game decisions? Yep, I loved that idiot play against the Saints that cost them a safety and almost the game. Instead of a Cutler just take the handoff and fall forward right before the half, they try a run play and the RB gets tackled in the end zone. Stupid.
Or the Carolina game, pitch to a RB and fumbles instead of just a simple run up the middle to end the half.
Game management has hardly been a strength this year either.

Im not so sure it wasnt the holding penalty. But I didnt like the play calling either. But that stuff squandered points for us. What hurt us more was the points that Buffalo got and that was a result of going for the FG. That actually gave Buffalo points and its an exceedingly bad risk given the weather and circumstance that I just mentioned.

another problem is the broncos lost the takeaway/giveaway game again (-2). They are the worst in the NFL with a mark of -15.

It's not just the points, its the momentum. Shanny knew the Bills would get the ball to start the 2nd half. Shanny knows his D sucks. You protect the D by giving the Bills a long field. It's not rocket science. Yes, that whole drive disintegrated but you don't compound the mistakes by trying that FG. Shanny doesn't deserve to be the coach and we deserve better as fans and players deserve better judgement that puts them in a position to win.

Box score shows broncos with ~ twice as many yards as the Bills in both rushing and passing. Game was lost in turnovers and broncos not capitalizing
with TDs in the redzone. Defense played poorly in 2nd half.

Well the one thing we all learned to Bates, Turner and Shanahan have no faith in either Young or Bell to run the ball. Once they decide that they needed to pass every play, this game become a 50-50 game.
And second question, why did Denver stop blitz. It was extremely effective and was troubling Edwards.

Yeah, but based on a conversation Wilcots had with Shanahan, it seems Shanahan feels he doesnt need a high end RB.

I basically agree.
Going for the FG from 54 yards when Prater NEVER kicked into the end zone
( longest kick went to the ten) all game was STUPID.
It Gave the Bills great field position and the defense promptly collapsed with Slowick playing PREVENT (10-15 yard cushions)
It was a momentum swing, whereas punting would have given them the ball at the 20 maybe. Long field.
Can't say it lost the game....but it sure didn't help preserve the lead.

He doesn't, he just one of the 7 guys he knows can run the ball to stay healthy.
