Am I the only person around that see's all these missed tackles because guys are not wrapping up???? Bly is one of the worst, and one guy who wrapps up on our team is Woody and when they let him play his Natural Position he leads the team in Tackles. I was watching the the Indy game tonight and saw so many missed tackles because of this? Any ideas why the PRO's are gettting away from this, I know when I play pop warner first thing we learned was to wrap up!!!

I dispise tackling up high unless it's absolutley nessessary/ no choice and yes bly is the worst and let's the runner gain a few more yards.

it's all about player salaries now...they are paid too much to risk injury and practice tackling

Wrapping up is the finish... almost every NFL player has pretty good tackling technique. From what I've seen, it's not the issue...

The issue that the Broncos have is that defenders (linebackers and ESPECIALLY the safeties) take terrible angles of pursuit. When you see a defender bounce off of a player, it's usually because they're coming at a bad angle. You see it a lot on those big plays.

Webster is the worst. If he's not tied up on a block he comes in really steep and sort of just bounces off of the ball carrier. Not because he can't tackle, but rather because he's coming at an angle that makes it nearly impossible to do so.

There have been several big plays this year where a safety (comically) actually tackles another Bronco who happened to have taken a decent angle and is trying to make a tackle. They knock their own team mate out of the play, because they are completely unable to take a good angle.

I think this is one thing that just can't be taught. Either a player naturally sees the field in such a way that they get to where the ball is... or they don't. So many players with great size and speed are complete failures at the pro level simply because they arrive early/late and find themselves grasping at air or bouncing harmlessly off a ball carrier.

Side note: This also applies to offensive players, especially linemen. One thing that has been incredibly encouraging about this offensive line is that when they are blocking in space they do a great job of taking good blocking angles on their assignments. This is the thing that our line during the superbowl years absolutely excelled at. Once they got to the second level they always put themselves in exactly the right spot and took the right angle. Couple that with a back like Hillis who runs straight down hill, and you can get some really nice production out of the run.

the thing with players not wrapping up, is that in the age of football, players want the highlight hits. players aren't happy to get the job done appropriately anymore, they want the bone crunching hits that get them on ESPN, and sadly, most football fans want this as well.

Fans who just like to watch the games, but don't really watch and understand and get in depth, want the entertainment value of a big hits instead of seeing good tackling that gets the job done.

Tackling is a dying art.

I could give two ****s about wrapping up really. With how powerful NFL collisions are it's hardly easy to do.

What I WOULD like to see is running through tackles though.

QFT.

Angles make or break your tackle. They are the difference between an arm tackle that someone runs through and a full body tackle that has both force and finish.

I disagree 100%, Wrapping is not the finish wrapping is step 3 in a four step process. The last step in the leg drive to pound the guy into the ground. Not trying to start a big deal, but have to disagree. Honestly I think it is like th other guys have said, everyone is looking for the KO hit so they can be on ESPN highlight reel.

There is a reason Ray Lewis was considered an all time great at LB, because he takes good angles and wraps up, Lewis hits you, you dont go anywhere. Alot of defenses would benefit from watching Ray Lewis clips.
