Favre on final two games: 'Very well could be my last'

As the end of the season nears, the annual possibility that Brett Favre may be playing his final games is rising again.
The Jets QB acknowledged on Wednesday that just doesn't know if he will return for another year.
"It very well could be my last," Favre said. "It could be my last three games or last four games, I don’t know.
"This is 18 years. Sixteen have been non-stop. It’s been a pretty good run, but it’s not over yet. I know for a fact that when I wake up and come to practice, as hard as it may be sometimes, and when I wake up and go play in a game, I’m pretty darn thankful that I’m still able to do that."
The Jets are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the AFC East with the Dolphins and Patriots. They travel to Seattle this week and face a potential play-in game with Miami in Week 17.
Favre said he's confident the team will get to the playoffs, and wouldn't say whether potentially missing the playoffs would influence his decision on next season. Favre came to the Jets in a trade after initially retiring from the Green Bay Packers following their loss in the NFC Championship Game last season.
Will the trade to acquire Favre be viewed unfavorably, especially if the Dolphins (led by QB Chad Pennington, whom the Jets released when they acquired Favre) edge out the Jets?
"I have no idea," Favre said. "That’s why you guys (reporters) do what you do. I have no idea. All I know is the Jets took a chance. I took a chance. One guy, I know this for a fact, doesn’t make or break a team."
And next year? Favre will leave that decision to the offseason.
"Who would’ve thought that I’d be sitting here answering that question in front of you," Favre said. "If you would have asked me that last year before the (NFC) championship game I would’ve said you need to quit drinking.
"Here I am. Who knows?"

I only hope that ESPN can get a camera outside his house, 24-7.
We need a Favre channel. That's what we need!

1. He ISN'T answering and
2. I fully expect him to do this next year...

Hope Jets waste a high pick on a QB on the presumption Favre is gone. Flash forward to 2011 where 41 year old Brett Favre is contemplating making a remarkable "comeback" to his nfl career. On another note, Mr. stud 2nd string QB has cost the Jets 4 million a year and priming to split to a division rival through free agency.

Sounds exactly like whats going on in AZ with Warner and Leinart.;D

Man, Leinart just looks like trash. I love Warner and am happy he is doing well. Apparently I remember hearing AZ wants to resign him this year for like 2 more years.
If I were Fitz or Boldin, I'd wanna get out of there the second Leinart takes over.

Maybe Leinhart can go to Jets for the wait and see play. I think there is a few teams that would like to bring Matt in. I still say he will become a good starter in the NFL. I am a Trojan honk, though.

Really? I remember hearing middle of the season that they were interested in resigning him. I must have heard wrong then. If I were AZ, regardless of if they sign Warner, let Leinart bolt.

Aging QB Brett Favre wearing down near end of Jets' season

Brett Favre is showing his age as even QB admits his arm is not nearly as dangerous as it used to be.

Big Apple Football: Week 15
It was a four-alarm quote by Brett Favre, but it barely registered Sunday because of the Shaun Ellis miracle/Dick Jauron madness: "Maybe I don't have the arm I once had. I don't know."
That was Favre's explanation of his third-quarter interception against the Bills, an ill-advised deep ball to Jerricho Cotchery that needed to go at least 50 yards - and went only 45 in the air. There isn't a late-30s quarterback alive who hasn't lost something on his fastball, but to actually hear Favre acknowledge his legendary right arm isn't what it used to be, well, it conjured up memories of Willie Mays, 1973.
"(He) just couldn't quite get it to where we wanted to get it to," said Eric Mangini, commenting on Favre's league-leading 17th interception.
Let's face it: Tuesday's Pro Bowl selection notwithstanding, Favre looks shot. He's 39, so it's quite possible he's wearing down in the homestretch. That wouldn't be a new trend; he's had some rough Decembers in recent years.
Against the Bills, Favre struggled with his accuracy, even on short and intermediate passes. Over the last three games, his completion percentage is 57.7, way too low for a quarterback operating a dink-and-dunk passing attack. In the same stretch, which happens to coincide with the Jets' funk, his passer rating is 61.0, lower than the mistake-laden patch in October when he threw seven interceptions in a three-game span.
"He cycled back," said Mangini, alluding to Favre's midseason rally. "I assume (he'll be) cycling back again."
They'd better hope so. Otherwise, the Jets will be cycling back to also-ran status. They need Favre more than ever in these final two games. With the defense springing new leaks every week, they probably will have to win high-scoring games to make the playoffs. It'll be tough to pull that off with a quarterback averaging less than seven yards per attempt, as Favre has done in each of the last three games.
But don't count him out; the man is a winner. He never - repeat, never - has lost the final two games in any regular season, which is amazing. His record in those games is 26-6, a testament to his ability to rise up in pressure situations.
This will be his greatest challenge. He's slumping, his body is aching (presumably) and things are cracking around him. For perhaps the last time, Favre tries to will a team into the postseason. Is it in him?
****
A one way ticket to GeezeBag City, dude. And in the year 2025, when a who-the-hell-knows-how-old Favre decides for the 60th time to retire, then unretire. Because he's in, he's out...:clown:

I actually like Favre. He seems like the kind of guys I grew up with. He doesn't want to hurt anybody. He's just a little self absorbed and as a result has absolutely no sense of grace when it comes to dealing with these questions.
A better quarterback would have admonished a reporter who asked that question not to bother with him about issues that have nothing to do with this team and this season, and that they're focused on the playoff hunt that they're in right now.
The Jets have a dangerous game in front of them right now with Seattle. It would be easy for that team to look past them, ahead to Miami next week. Seattle just gave New England a game, losing 21-24. Senaca Wallace seems to be giving that team a little bit of spark.
If the Jets miss the playoffs, it will be in part because he lacked the leadership to keep the focus of the team and the media on the fact that he isn't playing to retire - he's playing to win a championship.
