Clady is performing like a 10 year vet.

Interesting. I just noticed how underwhelming the AFC pro bowl QB options are this year. No offense to Cutler, theirs just not a no brainier at the position this year. That goes for the RB's too.
It wouldn't kill me if Marshall didn't make it, but I'll be plenty pissed if Clady doesn't.

QB's just missing Tom Brady...If he would have played it would be Brady, Manning and Cutler.

Manning has turned it on as of late. The colts aren't the same team, that's a huge factor to why he isn't amazing during this regular season. The oline isn't what it use to be and the run game is worse than ours. Colts are 10-4 but do have a better Defense than us as they can put pressure on the QB.

I am sorry, but if Cassell has proven anything this year it is this, Tom Brady is not as good as everyone seems to think he is.
and i will defend why i say this. Cassell hasn't played as more than a mop-up duty QB since his high school days around 8 years ago, yet he has led that team to a 9-5 record and possibly a playoff berth. If Brady were playing the Cheatriots are what 11-3 at this point in the season. The point i am making is that an average QB who hasn't played in 8 years until this season has the team still in contention. By that reasoning an actual QB who has played in recent seasons, who knew the system could easily duplicate what Brady had done. Brian Griese could get the job done. Similar skills to Brady, intelligent, doesn't take a lot of risks, gets the job done. Put him in at QB for the Cheatriots and his numbers match Brady's

Never said Tom Brady was god but if he would have played he would have made the pro bowl. That's all I'm saying. I agree with a lot that your saying but Tom Brady is a very good QB and no Brian Griese would not match his numbers. Thats going way too far...Patriots would be close to undefeated right now and would most likely be the favorites to win the Super Bowl with Brady.

I don't care what Cassel does in the playoffs. HE HAS NOT PLAYED COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL SINCE HIGH SCHOOL and he still has that team in a position to get into the playoffs.
does anyone honestly think now, that an NFL veteran QB could not have duplicated Brady's work? just don't make any stupid mistakes, make good reads, and throw a catchable ball and you could lead the Pats to the playoffs.
Guys like Pennington, Griese, Delhomme and Warner could easily have matched Brady's accomplishments, smart QB's who don't put the team in position to lose.
Brady is this generations Montana. marginally talented QB who lucked out and played for a really talented team and a good coach.

ok, maybe not Griese, but the point i am making is a QB with only high school playing experience and practices in college and the pros has that team competing. that right there says that any QB that doesn't put the team in a position to lose, could win in NE.
had Cassel had real game experience in the pros and not just High School game experience i truly think there would have been no drop off in wins or stats from when Brady played to him not playing.

Montana led the Chiefs to their only AFCG in 3 plus decades........Brady won 3 SB's prior to Moss & Welker arriving. I respectfully disagree that Brady is just an average QB, as I do regarding Joe Montana. Now, I do think that Cassel did walk into a fortunate situation for him--but I certainly think that the Pats are better of with Brady than Cassel.

Cool to see someone give Hamilton some love; kind of odd though, I'd say he's been the least impressive of our linemen this year (dont' get me wrong, I'm a big Hamilton fan, but the other 4 have been outstanding).
I'd be at peace with Marshall not getting in, I think he could probably use a kick in the pants like that to keep him grounded, sometimes I worry his head's not in it (see: drops).
I swear Philup Rivers better not get it.
Beyond being a Bronco fan, why?
In the AFC, he's:
#1 in Passer Rating
#1 in TDs thrown
#3 in Yards thrown
#6 in Completion %
And, although SD has been pretty dissappointing, Rivers has had some very gutsy performances.
He easily should be on the AFC squad....

Ya , i guess I take that whole MVP arguement too much into account. You have to make your team better with wins. A sub 500 team not going to the playoffs doesnt cut it.
Lets say Detriot Lions had a amazing QB that was #1 passer rating and TD's but still were 0-14, should he make it? I know thats a highly unlikely scenario, but what if?

Are you kidding me? Marginally talented? Brady has done more with less than pretty much any quarterback in the NFL. He has been blessed with a pretty solid offensive line, but has had a mediocre receiving corps for the majority of his career. Surround him with the offensive prowess that Manning has been blessed with and I'd bet his stats would be off the charts.
I freakin' hate the Patriots, but to call Brady marginally talented is completely retarded.

Understood....but you have to take into account how your logic would affect GREAT players on piss poor or mediocre teams. Look at the past few seasons. Guys like Patrick Willis and Frank Gore, TJ Housyamama, Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Drew Brees, Steve Slaton and Joey Porter might not even get consideration for the Pro Bowl just because their teams might not be that good....even though they are absolutely dominating their positions.
One guy can only do so much for an NFL team in the grand scheme of things. This isn't basketball, where only 5 guys are on the field/court at the same time and one guy CAN make a real difference.

Yep, good point.
There are many arguements against mine that make sense and are right.
Like if a WR was the best blocker on the team and was the major reason the team was 16-0, but he only had 10 catches all year. He shouldnt make the pro bowl. But if the WR had 120 Catches and didnt do anything else all year, and his team is 2-14, he should make the pro bowl
I am just interested how many probowlers come from teams 2-14, or 0-16, or even 5-11.

Brady made it to the AFCCG in 2006 with Reche Caldwell as his leading receiver and broken down Corey Dillon doing most of the rushing. Think of their Superbowl teams and who they had as offensive weapons. Most of those guys were out of the league within a couple years of getting big contracts from other teams.

Pretty sad, but all is not lost .... If we find some way to get Taylor Mays in the first round. We'll be slotted at pick #26 or so, but we have assets to move up and safeties are slightly undervalued in the draft. So if we slide Mays in at FS and team him with Josh Barrett at SS, we'll be set for 10+ years there.

I think if San Diego had the same record as Denver, Rivers might had made it in the pro bowl over Cutler, so i think record might have a small amount to do with it.

Peters returning to Pro Bowl
Chris Brown, Lead Journalist
Posted 47 minutes ago
For the second straight year Buffalo’s most talented offensive lineman will be making a trip to Hawaii in February. Left tackle Jason Peters was named to his second consecutive Pro Bowl and will be Buffalo’s only representative on the AFC roster.
It’s the first time a Bills offensive lineman has been named to consecutive Pro Bowls since Ruben Brown, who went to eight consecutive from 1996-2003.
Peters missed the entire offseason and preseason due to a contract dispute in which he chose not to report to the team. The holdout ended just before the regular season, but he did not dress for the first regular season.
Slowly but surely Peters rounded his game back into form as the season wore on and the production in Buffalo’s running game improved as a result. Peters wasn’t the sole reason Buffalo’s ground attack was better, but it certainly didn’t hurt to have their athletic left tackle driving defenders off the ball with regularity.
The fifth-year pro helped Marshawn Lynch eclipse the 1,000-yard plateau this past week against the Jets as Buffalo had its highest rushing output of the season (187 yards). Lynch now ranks fourth in the AFC in rushing.
Since the AFL-NFL merger there have been four other times the Bills have had a lone Pro Bowl representative (1970, 1978, 1979, 1984).

Gates isn't really having a great year either.
It's been a down year for TEs all across the board. Even though he's been hurt, he's still been putting up better numbers than anyone else in the AFC not named Gonzo. The only other comparable performer was Dallas Clark, but Gates has 1 more TD than him, so I don't have a problem with this selection.
Given that the probowl doesn't reward blocking TEs, who would you select instead of Gates?

The AFC DT position selected Haynesworth and Kris Jenkins as starters with Shaun Rodgers the backup. That means guys like Haloti Ngata, Richard Seymour, Vince Woolfork, Jamal Williams, and Casey Hampton are all sitting at home. All are deserving. And, it means John Henderson and Marcus Stroud had huge down years for JAX and BUF.
Dominant DT's are what make a stout Defense. DEN needs one somewhere near that Caliber and right now that player is not on the roster, despite the average play of Robertson and Thomas. Both are OK, But neither are in the league of the above players on their best days. You want a real defense In DEN, Get a real DT to play up front.

Jake Plummer led us to our only playoff win and Championship game appearance in a decade, does that nmake him good?

Beyond being a Bronco fan, why?
In the AFC, he's:
#1 in Passer Rating
#1 in TDs thrown
#3 in Yards thrown
#6 in Completion %
And, although SD has been pretty dissappointing, Rivers has had some very gutsy performances.
He easily should be on the AFC squad....
him being a dikwad is what kept players and coaches from voting for him
the pro bowl is a popularity game, and Favre is likable and will go as long as he plays, Jay is a fiery competitor who carried his team all year, gained respect and put up good numbers and Peyton is always getting into the pro bowl for as long as he plays.
maybe if Rivers weren't such an a-hole the league would have looked at his merits instead of his antics.

You think Jay Cutler and Dre Bly launched a smear campaign against Rivers or something? Rivers isn't going because his team hasn't won very many games. If the Chargers were at 10 wins right now Phillip Rivers would be the first one in. As it is, he's the figurehead of a very disappointing team. You can look at the individual performance of a runningback or linebacker or wide receiver and separate it pretty easily from the overall performance of their team. Not a quarterback.

Do not forget Stroud went to BUF in a Trade as well.
Solid, Game changing DT's allow the rest of the defense to operate as designed. Average DT's with Below Average DE's means the defense can not create the Necessary Balance in the front 7 to play how you wish to play, but must create a scheme that covers this weakness. History has shown that it can not be effective for long until teams start exploiting it in the second half of the season and games.
DEN has not had a game changing DT since Pryce in 2002. The defenses have reflected that.

the Raiders are 2-12 right now and Asomughua is going to Hawaii. Drew Brees leads a disappointing Saints team, Tony Ganzales, Kris Dielman, all are players for underachieving or bad teams that went to the pro bowl regardless of the fact their team sucks.
the point i am making is that Rivers has his attitude that pisses people off. He was deserving this season regardless of record, but when the voters(players and coaches) think you're a dick, they are not going vote for you anyway. it had nothing to do with his record this season
Jens1893

I disagree, I think Rivers would be in if he was on the Jets. Favre over Rivers is a farce and I hate Philip Rivers as much as some others do on here. The only 2 things Favre has going for him compared to Rivers are a better completion percentage and 9 wins instead of 6. Rivers deserves it way more than Favre. Plain and simple.
And Jay Cutler can be a bit of a dick sometimes also.
