Scary thought. Denver gets down big and packs it up and quits. SD gets down big and they figure out a way to get it going and amazingly come back. Sure, Carolina ain't KC but the team down by 20 has to at least try.

Denver D looked like it reverted back to pre-Miami game. O looked lost and missing Hillis' big play. Sucks, Hope we show up at home next week.

Could happen it's not like a Shanahan coached team has not faded down the stretch before.

It will not surprise me.

Heart, desire, pride...three things this team is lacking right now. I don't think this team knows how to win yet.

Marshall needs to get the extra yards a little more often as opposed to stopping dead and trying for a "punt return"

If today was any indication, I'd bet SD wins the division.

They had a revitalizing win today - and the TB team they face next week is slumping right now.

We had a demoralizing defeat today -- a pack it up style defeat.

Wouldn't suprise me at all if SD wins next week and we lose....then it comes down to the final week.

This is gonna sound stupid, but this game was over as soon as they saw San Diego won. I guarentee you they had the mindset, 15 minutes before kickoff, that they had the division wrapped. Never underestimate mindset when it comes to a young football team.

They BETTER be on the a-game next week and beat the hell out of Buffalo, because i dont think there's a chance in hell we beat SD in SD...and thats not because I think SD is any good.

To fade you have to start out strong. We haven't been anything but consistently inconsistent.

ScottXray
12-14-2008, 04:33 PM
If we manage to fade out and not make the playoffs Shanny will point to the injuries as responsible. and he would be correct mostly. However blowing a 3 game lead with 3 to play...inexcusable IMO. That says a lot about coaching and would be the ultimate fade to close a season.

Next week is a a HOME game...Win that and the Chargers can cry all they want about Hoculi....it won't change a thing, and the asterisk won't be in the record book, just in the chargers thoughts. We just need to take care of OUR business, and not worry about them.

I hope Shanahan has some idea how to WIN next week and end all this talk.

I suspect that the Broncos will do whatever it takes to beat the Bills next weekend and in all probability San Diego will lose to Tampa next week.....We'll rest all our starters for the San Diego game......but THEN what??
Can anyone honestly say we will get past the first round in the playoffs??
The Broncos have just been heart breakers this year and it's not a given that we'll take the division......tough year.....if it isn't the Economy it's the damn Donkeys!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH.......lol...lol.......geeze!

I think Denver wins next week and San Diego loses. These underachieving turds that the Chargers give contracts to still haven't figured out how to play four consecutive quarters of disciplined football. Making a comeback against a 2 win team doesn't excite me that much. Meanwhile Buffalo sucks.

Good point. But I was only referring to my belief that the Chugs can beat the Bucs with Griese at QB. If we win it doesn't matter.

No. In the playoffs you have to play defense and run the football, two things we can't do.

does anyone know if shanny went back to his wussified non-contact practices during this past week to protect his players from injuries? if shanny wants to protect his players from injury, here's an idea... just forfeit the next 2 weeks. the results will be the same and everyone will be healthy enough to watch the playoffs from their sofa.

I am beginning to wonder if Marshall has lost his toughness.. He sure seems to be playing soft since about the 4th week of the season...

He definitely is not playing with confidence like a true number one (Steve Smith), which we saw today. Would have been nice to have Champ today, though I do not believe it would have made a difference, maybe only 23-10 instead..

The playoffs are all about who wants it more. If the Broncos want to get to the playoffs then they will beat Buffalo. If not, then they will pack their lethargic inconsistent asses in at SD after a BUF loss. We'll find out next week how bad they want it.

Broncos should wrap things up against Buffalo next week if the coaching doesnt get in the way. The defensive scheme today made J. Delhomme look like T. Brady, I understand loading up to stop the run if its needed, but shouldnt they come out in and see what the front 7 can do before they leave the cb's one on one, unbelievable. The cb's playing true man with no pass rush scheme should be a last resort, not the base defense!

The offense was just stuck in the mud today, obviously Carolina was ready for everything and shut it down. IMO, a more conventional approach should be used a little more in the last 2 games, I'm not saying go away from the spread because its gotten them this far, but without Hillis the spread isnt as effective and they should at least try to run the ball out of a conventional style formation and run more slants and try to get the play action game going.

I don't think this team knows how to win yet.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You mean there might be a downside to having 27 draft picks each season? There might be some benefit to having a vocal, veteran leader in each unit that knows how to win, a la Lynch? The guys who get the little chubbies when they talk about who Denver should target with their second 7th round pick won't be happy to hear that.

You're absolutely right, BTW.

It sure would be nice to win it, but even if we don't... well, I don't think we win in the playoffs anyway. With Hillis and a balanced offense I thought we could easily win a playoff game if we had a "good" day defensively... but right now, no.
I still think we'll win the division... and next year, if we manage to stay healthy for once, we'll be contenders. Our future is bright either way.

TonyR
12-14-2008, 05:57 PM
Our future is bright either way.

Our future is bright only if we get some players on defense (and we need more than 1 or 2) and some consistency on offense. That and some health.

Denver is a Jekyll and Hyde team this year. I'm confidnet they will come out firing on all cyllinders vs. the Bills.

Yes, we get this thing done next week!

Oh, and I also think we punk the Chargers in their own house, giving us a 10-6 season. Now, if you would have offered me a 10-6 season at the beginning of the year, I would have said that sounds about right.

So, 10-6 and let's punk the Colts/Ravens/Jets/Patriots in the first round of the playoffs!

With this team, the Buffalo game certainly isn't a given. J.P. Losman is rancid, and today, he had about the worst 3 minutes of any NFL QB I've ever seen. If any defense can make him look like the reincarnation of Johnny Unitas though it's this defense. Lynch is a man, and is entirely capable of gouging us for a big game too. I'd like to think this team will rise to the occasion and beat team that's really struggling, but there is really no way to tell which team shows up.

It will be an epic battle next weak between the turnover prone qb and the qb friendly coordinator

On another note as much as I would hate us going into San Diego with the Division on the line, I truly believe if that were to happen that we would absolutely dominate the Chargers. Since we seem to have always gotten up for big games this year. And I will throw today out as an aberration due to San Diego's ****ty performance against KC up until the last 2:00 minutes.

Seriously how bad does it suck to be a KC fan today? Wow, I almost feel sorry for them except for their total screwing of us as well today. Way to choke you chief dicks.

If Norv misses the flight to Tampa, the Bolts will have a chance next week. His play calling is still atrocious. Stop abandoning the run so quickly and stop going for bombs, especially in poor weather conditions!

Denver and Buffalo? Who knows? Both those teams are so unpredictable.

But I say it's unlikely that Denver and Tampa both lose home games next week.

As someone who is forced by misguided family members to watch Buffalo every week, I can reassure you all that we should....lemme put that in italics should beat that team senseless at home.

The only thing that concerns me about the Bills at all is that Lynch played like a man pissed off today against the Jets...he stiff armed and plowed over everyone in eyesight today...sometimes that was even his own men. Denver's run D has been much better as of late BUT if Lynch plays as possessed as he did today, they could have their hands full.

Then again, they do have Loseman under center and the Buffalo defense outside of MLB Putz is pretty lame...and I'm being kind about that.

As many have said, they should beat the Bills @ home with little difficulty...if they go out and take another giant shiat when they should TCB, then they didn't deserve to be even as close as they were....it'd be all over with plain and simple.
