Don Banks 2008 do over, i thought to myself "this should be fun to see some Broncos love!" Holy crap, epic fail.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/don_banks/12/10/re-do-draft-2008/index.html?eref=T1

1
Miami Dolphins (Original Pick: Jake Long, OT, Michigan)
RE-DO PICK: MATT RYAN, QB, BOSTON COLLEGE
Chad Pennington has been superb, and Chad Henne is locked and loaded as the Dolphins quarterback of the future. But Ryan is in the midst of one of the greatest seasons ever by a rookie quarterback, and you don't pass on that given a second chance. Just like Ben Roethlisberger in our inaugural re-draft of 2004, Ryan shoots to the top of the heap.

2
St. Louis Rams (Original Pick: Chris Long, DE, Virginia)
RE-DO PICK: JOE FLACCO, QB, DELAWARE
You think Flacco lingers to No. 18 on the board this time around? Uh, no. It's a quarterbacks league, and while I'm not sure anyone could win in St. Louis about now, Marc Bulger sure isn't getting it done. The list of teams that wished it had believed in Flacco last spring is getting longer all the time.

3
Atlanta Falcons (Original Pick: Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College)
RE-DO PICK: JAKE LONG, OT, MICHIGAN
Without the Falcons getting their quarterback in this slot, they would turn to their need at left offensive tackle, where they took USC's Sam Baker after trading back into the first round at No. 21. Long, Ryan Clady and Duane Brown have all excelled at LT this year, but the ex-Wolverine has been a solid pro.

4
Oakland Raiders (Original Pick: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas)
RE-DO PICK: CHRIS JOHNSON, RB, EAST CAROLINA
We all know Al Davis loves speed, but in Johnson he gets speed that has actually produced as a rookie. McFadden has just one 100-yard rushing game, and that came in Week 2. Johnson has been a spectacular season-long contributor to Tennessee's overwhelmingly successful running game.

5
Kansas City Chiefs (Original Pick: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU)
RE-DO PICK: CHRIS LONG, DE, VIRGINIA
The Chiefs have gotten virtually zero impact out of Dorsey, and they sure could have used some defensive line help to offset the loss of the traded Jared Allen. Long has modest statistics, but his four sacks are a good first step in the right direction. Don't forget it took Mario Williams until year two to find his groove.

6
New York Jets (Original Pick: Vernon Gholston, LB, Ohio State)
RE-DO PICK: DOMINIQUE RODGERS-CROMARTIE, CB, TENNESSEE STATE
If the Jets defense has had a weakness this year, it has been at cornerback. Rodgers-Cromartie has quickly emerged as a play-maker in Arizona, and he's getting more playing time than any other rookie corner. Gholston, meanwhile, has serious bust potential.

7
New Orleans Saints (Original Pick: Sedrick Ellis, DE, USC)
RE-DO PICK: MATT FORTE, RB, TULANE
The Saints' Drew Brees-led passing game has had to carry far too much of the load again, and New Orleans sure could have used Forte, the Louisiana native who played collegiately in their backyard. At 6-foot-2, 222 pounds, Forte gives the Saints the size they lack in the backfield, and he catches the ball as well as Reggie Bush.

8
Jacksonville Jaguars (Original Pick: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida)
RE-DO PICK: DESEAN JACKSON, WR, CALIFORNIA
Harvey's rookie season was ruined by his long holdout, but Jackson's first-year impact has been impressive in Philly. Stop us if you've heard this before, but the Jaguars need more receivers. Jerry Porter has been hurt most of the year, Troy Williamson has been a zero, and Matt Jones, while productive, just got suspended.

9
Cincinnati Bengals (Original Pick: Keith Rivers, LB, USC)
RE-DO PICK: STEVE SLATON, RB, WEST VIRGINIA
Tough call here. Rivers was playing very well until he got his jaw busted by Hines Ward early in Week 7. And the Bengals loved Jerod Mayo, who went No. 10 to New England. But defense hasn't been the problem for a change in Cincy, the offense has. When Cedric Benson is your leading rusher, you need help in the running game. Slaton has been a revelation for Houston.

10
New England Patriots (Original Pick: Jerod Mayo, LB, Tennessee)
RE-DO PICK: MAYO
We're not here to fix what ain't broken. The Patriots love everything about their rookie inside linebacker, and he has been their most consistent performer at a position decimated by injuries. If it had the chance, New England would make exactly the same selection all over again.

11
Buffalo Bills (Original Pick: Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy)
RE-DO PICK: RYAN CLADY, OT, BOISE STATE
The Bills landed themselves a player in McKelvin, who has added impact in the secondary and as a kick returner. But with the whole Jason Peters holdout fiasco still complicating the long-term picture at left offensive tackle, we're giving them Clady, who has been a godsend for Denver's OL.

12
Denver Broncos (Original Pick: Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State)
RE-DO PICK: DUANE BROWN, OT, VIRGINIA TECH
We were tempted to select Oregon's Jonathan Stewart for the Broncos, given that they've gone through running backs like Kleenex this season. But Denver doesn't take first-round running backs. With no Clady on the board, we stick with a left tackle in Brown, who has started 12 games for Houston and excelled in run blocking.

Its not really a fail because in the re-do they have Clady gone and their arguments against the others is pretty valid.

Oh I meant more from the standpoint of Jake Long going before Clady, and DeSean Jackson going before Royal.

Wow, I'm ridiculously upset at the thought of a world where we don't have Ryan Clady.

I don't see how they can say Chris Johnson would be a better pick than McFadden just yet. Chris Johnson benefits from a great offensive line, being a change of pace to Lendale, and a defense that keeps him on the field making plays.

McFadden's been injured, and plays for the Raiders. Either one of those two on their own would be enough to do anyone in. Chris Johnson on the Raiders doesn't scare me.

I love me some Duane Brown, but he's not as good as Clady. I would have been happy, but I am glad we got the Ryan

Yeah in 2007 I said we wouldn't take Moss because we never take the player everyone expects us to and we did.

This year I predicted we wouldn't take an offensive lineman in round one and that Clady would be gone by our pick and (thankfully) was wrong on both.

I have to say you do this draft again and Clady goes before Long.

The real question is.....does he have Hillis going before McFadden?

He has McFadden going to the Bears at 14.

There sure are some headscratchers in this re-do ... does the guy who did this realize just how much money the Saints have tied up in Deuce and Reggie Bush?

To do a redo of a draft before 3 years is silly. To say that Long is playing better than Clady is retarded, and Jackson over Royal is just plain stupid. Doesn't matter though, time will tell.

A redo would put Clady in the top three. Let's get serious. Gholston is a real shocker. I thought that guy would be a beast. Now he's looking like a bust. Same with Dorsey who everybody and their brother was saying would be a game changer.

One thing to consider is that Clady is simply a dream-come-true fit for our system. The fact that he played in the exact same system at Boise has surely helped his transition. He carries all of the positives of the typical Broncos OL (athletic/quick, smart) without the weaknesses (lack of strength, poor pass pro). Harris actually fits these descriptions as well.

I love Clady as much as the next guy and personally think he's been our best, most consistent all-round player this season - but I'm not sure how much better he'd be than Long in Miami and vice-versa. I think both teams got the best player for their system.

Heres a guy who posted this on the WASHINGTON POST a while back
As always, your Redrafts are welcome in the comments below.

Pick Team
1. Miami Dolphins
Redraft: QB Matt Ryan. Was 17-of-22 for 220 yards in crushing Raiders on Sunday, outplaying JaMarcus Russell and keeping the Falcons in the playoff hunt.
2008 Pick: OT Jake Long.
2. St. Louis
Redraft: OT Jake Long. Big reason for Dolphins' resurgence, has been solid on left side.
2008 Pick: DT Chris Long. Rams gave up 510 totals yards in 34-13 loss to Cardinals. Five hundred and ten yards. To Arizona. Long had three tackles for a loss. Congrats.
3. Atlanta
Redraft: WR DeSean Jackson. Just two receptions for 20 yards Sunday in 26-7 victory over Seattle for the Eagles' suddenly human second-round pick (49th overall).
2008 Pick: QB Matt Ryan. Taken by Dolphins in Redraft at No. 1.
4. Oakland
Redraft: RB Matt Forte. Forte (Chicago, second round, 44th) had 22 carries for 126 yards in 27-23 victory over Lions.
2008 Pick: RB Darren McFadden. Sidelined on Sunday because of turf toe.

5. KC Chiefs
Redraft: WR Eddie Royal. The former Hokie (Denver, second round, 42nd) had a 95-yard kickoff return that set up his own touchdown catch and six other receptions in loss to Miami.
2008 Pick: DE Glenn Dorsey. Mr. Dorsey, on playing in the NFL: "Everybody's fast, everybody's big, everybody's strong and everybody is one of the best at what they do. That's a big adjustment." It is, when you are no good.
6. NY Jets
Redraft: LB Jerod Mayo. Leads the Patriots, who took him 10th, with 65 tackles and has played on 84 percent of defensive snaps, according to the Boston Globe. Ladies and gentlemen, THAT'S a first-round pick.
2008 Pick: DE Vernon Gholston. He's a late bloomer. Yeah, that's it. A late bloomer.

7. New Orleans
Redraft: DT Chris Long. Drops here from No. 2.
2008 Pick: DT Sedrick Ellis. Bye week should have helped in recuperation from knee surgery.
8. Jacksonville
Redraft: LB Curtis Lofton. The Oklahoma product (Atlanta, second round, 37th) is second among rookies in tackles with 47.
2008 Pick: DE Derrick Harvey. Still no sacks and things might be imploding for 3-5 Jaguars.
9. Cincinnati
Redraft: LB Keith Rivers. Out for the season because of a broken jaw but played well enough for horrible Bengals team to keep spot.
2008 Pick: Rivers.
10. New England
Redraft: RB Chris Johnson. Johnson (Tennessee, first round, 24th) carried the Titans on overtime drive that beat Packers Sunday.
2008 Pick: LB Jerod Mayo. Taken by Jets in Redraft at No. 6.
11. Buffalo
Redraft: RB Steve Slaton. The Mountaineer (Houston, third round, 89th) had 62 yards rushing and eight more catches in 28-21 loss to Vikings Sunday.
2008 Pick: CB Leodis McKelvin. He can't get playing time despite $12.6 million in guaranteed money?
12. Denver
Redraft: T Ryan Clady. Clady is a keeper but 14 total rushing yards for Broncos in 26-17 loss to Miami?
2008 Pick: Clady.
13. Carolina
Redraft: RB Jonathan Stewart. Has 362 rushing yards and five touchdowns for 6-2 Panthers.
2008 pick: Stewart.
14. Chicago
Redraft: McFadden. Drops here from No. 4 to replace Forte, who has zoomed from second round to top of first.
2008 Pick: OT Chris Williams. Made his 2008 debut after back surgery by playing special teams Sunday against Detroit.
15. Kansas City
Redraft: OT Sam Baker. Falcons traded up for USC star at No. 21 but he is out indefinitely after lower back surgery.
2008 Pick: OG Branden Albert. Overtime loss to Tampa Bay the latest blow to woeful Chiefs.
16. Arizona
Redraft: S Chris Horton. The product from UCLA (Redskins, seventh round, 249) did not have one of his better games in loss to Steelers.
2008 Pick: CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Cardinals are winning but it's not because of him.
17. Detroit
Redraft: CB Brandon Flowers. The Hokie (Kansas City, second round, 35th) has hamstring issues but had played okay until then.
2008 Pick: OT Gosder Cherilus. A mediocre right tackle on a far-worse-than-mediocre team.
18. Baltimore
Redraft: QB Joe Flacco. Threw two touchdown passes in comeback victory over Cleveland. Do you believe?
2008 Pick: Flacco.
19. Carolina
Redraft: OT Jeff Otah. Ankle injury could sideline him again Sunday, but it's only the Raiders.
2008 Pick: Otah.
20. Tampa Bay
Redraft: CB Aqib Talib. Inconsistent as can be. Sunday, he was beaten for a touchdown because he gave way too much cushion to middling wide receiver Dwayne Bowe of Chiefs.
2008 Pick: Talib.

21. Washington
Redraft: WR Donnie Avery. The Houston product (St. Louis, second round, 33rd) has 23 catches for 363 yards for Rams and sure would have been nice to have when Santana Moss was hobbled Monday night.
2008 Pick: Traded pick to Atlanta, which took OT Sam Baker.
22. Dallas
Redraft: RB Felix Jones. Still unsure if he'll be back to face Redskins on Nov. 16 because of hamstring issues.
2008 pick: Jones. He'll move up once he's healthy.
23. Pittsburgh
Redraft: Ellis. He drops here from No. 7.
2008 Pick: RB Rashard Mendenhall. Out for season because of fractured shoulder.
24. Tennessee
Redraft: CB Antoine Cason. The 27th pick, by the Chargers, is a nice nickel back, which is about as good as it gets on defense in this draft.
2008 Pick: RB Chris Johnson. Redrafted to New England at No. 10.
25. Dallas
Redraft: CB Dwight Lowery. The Jets' fourth-round pick (112th) makes a lot of tackles and has recovered two fumbles but has been beaten too often in coverage.
2008 Pick: CB Mike Jenkins. Don't care about his gift interception TD off Eli Manning. Someone explain what he was doing on the Giants' final touchdown. Did you see it? He was in position to make the tackle and did not move. Derrick Ward ran right by him. Then he stumbled and fell over a prone teammate. Summed up the Cowboys' day.
26. Houston
Redraft: OT Duane Brown. Was beaten by Vikings defensive end Jared Allen on sack that resulted in quarterback Matt Schaub's knee injury.
2008 Pick: Brown.
27. San Diego
Redraft: S Charles Godfrey. The Iowa product (Carolina, third round, 67th) has started all eight games for the Panthers at free safety.
2008 Pick: CB Antoine Cason. Redrafted to Tennessee at 24.
28. Seattle
Redraft: G Jamey Richard. The Colts' seventh-round pick (226th overall) has been forced into the starting lineup and has been serviceable at guard and center.
2008 Pick: DE Lawrence Jackson. With Patrick Kerney out, now would be the time for Jackson to prove he belongs. Don't think he can.
29. San Francisco
Redraft: DE Phillip Merling. The former Clemson star (Miami, second round, 32nd) has tailed off a bit after strong start.
2008 Pick: DT Kentwan Balmer. Has five tackles all season. Five.
30. NY Jets
Redraft: TE John Carlson. The Notre Dame product (Seattle, second round, 38th) has 22 catches with two touchdowns.
2008 Pick: TE Dustin Keller. Held to two catches for 19 yards by struggling Bills.
31. NY Giants
Redraft: S Tyrell Johnson. The Arkansas State product (Minnesota, second round, 43rd) will be playing mainly special teams now that Madieu Williams is healthy.
2008 Pick: S Kenny Phillips. Giants are playing so well he isn't needed to do much.

How the hell do they explain Long ahead of Clady? and Desean ahead of Royal.

Clady has become not only the best ROOKIE LT but one of the leagues best LT
And Royal is having on of the best rookie receiving seasons in recent memory. He is on pace to possibly hit 1000 receiving yards and i think only 4 others have ever done that.

I disagree. Long was in a Alex Gibbs ZBS at Michigan, and was very successful in it. Either player would have fit in any system and been successful
