All I can say is WOW! 300 yards rushing.

Yeah just saw that too. Man... we are going to have our hands full. We're going to give up a big run or two, but we NEED to outphysical them. If we can hit them in the mouth and let them know we are NOT as soft as we look, we can hang with them

We need to get up early on these guys.

Definately. I think we are in for a shootout. We should be able to get the ball downfield through the air. Just hope we come up with some kind of running game to keep the Panthers from blitzing every play.

reminds me of us playing minnesota last year...i thought they would just kill us running the ball...and they actually didn't, Denver's D held them in check. Hopefully we can plug some holes, but watching tonight it is going to be a tough task..this is one phyiscal team. impressive.

Maybe stewart and williams will be so tired from running for so many yards tonight:)

I reaaally hope all the talking heads in the media give us crap all week about how we're gonna get killed. We play great when we're expected to lay down and take it. Come on ESPN, do something useful for once.

2 first round RBs with that Oline..and that spells trouble for Denver. Could get very ugly. We will hang around till the 4th qtr or so, but I see them killing our soft Dline. Start all Carolina RBs this week in FFL. Ugh.

BTW watching this game I was extremely jealous of their RBs... imagine what our offense would look like with someone like Williams running the ball. (no offense to Hillis, I love the guy and the way he runs) We would be damn near unstoppable.

Who wouldn't be worried at this point? Who wasn't worried about it before tonight?
Their secondary can be had, and that's how we win that game.

we're in serious trouble...
people saying it'll be a shoot out need to understand that the best way to neutralize a good passing attack is with an effective run game, and the cats have that oozing from their ears...
if we can't get them off the field quickly (and i don't imagine we will), we're gonna get killed...

I was pretty worried about Atlanta and New York running the ball on us as well though. Those games turned out ok :)

put all your guys at the LOS and take your chances with smith and delhoume...
play cover 1 for most of the day with the safety cheating to steve smith's side...
if delhoume beats us i can live with that...

Nope, pretty sure it's going to be your standard straight out of left field wtf is going on with the Denver defense performance: ~80 yards rushing, 2 catches for Steve Smith, 13 catches and 208 yards for Dwayne Jarrett.
Book it!

Anyway we can borrow the USC defense this weekend? Were screwed

I was just as scared about Michael Turner and Roddy White. Of course, if RW makes that catch at the end I could be talking about that a bit differently, and I don't see Steve Smith dropping that one ever.
This one will be tough. We need Champ.

They're going to get their yards on the ground. They'll put up 24 points on us, minimum. But, if Jay comes out focused and on top of his game... we can easily hang with them. Their defense has been up and down this year, for sure. They're coming off of a big win tonight and ripe for a let-down. I'm not expecting a win, but there are a bunch of scenarios where I think we can hang around and steal one.

Buffalo is going to be a must win unless Tampa show more than last night.

Carolina's running game is exactly the reason why Denver needs to make the most of their first few drives and get an early lead. If the Panthers are playing from behind, they will not have the luxury to pound the rock on the ground and will become more one-dimensional by throwing 80% of the time.

All I can say is WOW! 300 yards rushing.
DeAngelo Williams (a guy who I wanted the Broncos to draft) and Stewart (another FIRST ROUND RB, I know, I know, I just can't let it go) and a good offensive line and what do you know? They ran rough shot over the Tampa defense...
Made Tampa look silly. That's like a top ranked defense and all...

Broncos don't need to win this game, what they need to do is stay healthy...
Been worried about the running teams, Carolina is even more scary with how physical they play.
Defense will be tested for real this week. Maybe the Panther's will be flat after a short week and big win.

If I was Carolina I'd be just as worried what Marshall and Royal could do to them after Antonio Bryant ripped their DB's a new asshole.

I am worried about everyones running game, but if our D decides to show up, I think we have the talent to put 8 in the box and stuff the run, and hopefully champ will come back and shut down Steve Smith.

So.....considering what they just did to a Top 5 ranked Monte Kiffen defense, if the Broncos somehow manage to hold them under 300 yards rushing and 38 pts, will people finally back off Slowik and maybe even give him a little bit of credit?
This should be interesting.

Last night, they averaged 8.5 yards per carry. I don't care if you are down by 3 or even 4 scores. You don't abandon the run if you are doing that to your opponent. I wouldn't count on the Panthers abandoning the run based on score alone.

They can and will get some big runs on us, but we can match their points.
As long as we have some time consuming drives as well, we will be fine.
Another thing I noticed - the Bucs did best when they went to the spread offense. We can definitely work the spread better than the Bucs. If Jay makes good decisions and is ready to dump it short, we should be fine.

Carolina has us outmatched in most areas talent wise by a considerable margin. They are a great team, possibly the best in the NFL right now.

Dang. I wasn't aware of their YPC average. You're right...8+ yards is just as good as a pass. Maybe the Panthers will give some early Christmas presents to the Broncos by turning the football over early and often.

If you watch the clips from last night.. The strong running game was due to poor tackling by the bucs.. On several of the runs the RB was hit at the LOS. We need to wrap up, these guys don't go down easy and gang tackle.

The DT's are gonna have to be extry good or we get steamrolled. If we're a sieve up the middle, it'll be a long day. If our LB's can get some breathing room and not have OL up in their grill all day, I think our speed can neutralize some of that run game. It could be a game of limited possessions, so we'd better not be trading FG's for TD's since we may not get the ball much.
Woodyard had better be on the field.

I just hope we put the pads on in practice this week. Tampa was in possition to stop a lot of those yards last night but couldn't tackle anything. If we come in with sound technique and just focus on finishing plays and making tackles, we will be okay. On the bright side, Carolina's secondary look pedestrian.

All things considered, it's usually better to play a team coming off a big Monday night win than a big Monday night loss. The losers often find a way to vindicate themseves the next week, whereas the winners tend to bask in the glory a little bit.
I hope the Panthers get all kinds of build-em-up press coverage this week. Every little distraction helps.
That said, I don't know how in the heck this defense can hope to slow them down.

If Champ Bailey plays he has a good chance to shut down Steve Smith, thus allowing the Broncos to put 8 men in the box to stop the run.
The Broncos need to come out and put points on the board, and that will be done with Jay Cutlers arm not by running the ball. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an empty backfield on most of the Broncos plays, giving Cutler the chance to air it out.
Could be a close game decided by a field goal either way… hopefully Prater will get a chance to win the game and come through for the Broncos.

It will certainly be interesting. I am also worried about the smoke route with the 15 yard cushion we give recievers. They killed TB with that tonight and TB can tackle.

what ever. we have a better qb. they have better rb's.
both WR corps are great. smith is great but so is marshall and royal. Both offensive lines are great.
Champ is better then what they have. peppers is better then what we have.
overall they are the better team but not by a huge margin like you say.
we have been great on the road and number 6 will give us a chance. dont count us out yet

If DJ comes back we have 2 of the fastest linebackers in the league with him and Woodyard. If you look at Woodyard you see a lot of the speed Ian Gold had in his early years, except Woodyard is a better tackler. I am really excited to have those two on the field because it means we can cover a lot of distance and get to a lot of players.
My favourite play from last week was Woodyard blowing up a screen in the backfield. He isn't fooled, and just as the catch is made he blows right by the wouldbe blocker and takes down the ball carrier for a loss. I am so excited about that guy, he may be the best undrafted free agent we have had since Rod Smith.
