Edgerrin James has four 1,500 yard-plus rushing seasons and two NFL rushing titles. I said it would take him awhile to get in, but he's not a definite no.

Hate to say it, but a lot of it has to do with how friendly the players were to the press. Players, like Art Monk, who were difficult or aloof to the press will have to wait longer than guys who were easily accessible. Also, guys who continue to be in the spotlight doing publicity acts like "dancing with the stars" and covering football as color commentaries tend to get the nod over those who didn't.

If John Madden hadn't become a big-time commentator (not to mention his Madden video games), he probably woudn't be in the hall of fame.

Of this list, here are the guys that are/were ultra press friendly:

ray lewis
john lynch
kurt warner
brian urlacher
torry holt
jason taylor
warren sapp

Tory Holt has been a model of efficiency throughout his career.

Of all the people on that list IMO he is the only one that absolutely should be but probably wont be.

troy palamalu (sp)--he's got a legit shot. dude is a playmaker and highlight maker
ray lewis-easily in
champ bailey-not first ballot, but eventually gets in.
john lynch-see baily, champ
albert haynesworth-much too early. longevity not there yet.
adrian peterson-just a baby. has top 10 RB of all time skill potential.
kurt warner-yes. story of being a grocery stocker is compelling and his numbers are worthy, IMO.1
edge-he's not out of the conversation, but I doubt it.
brian urlacher-if he doesn't win a ring, he might get jobbed. but he should get there, IMO.
torry holt-nope
antonio gates-nope. injuries.
andre johnson-this is an interesting one. i think he'll have numbers, but houston is the denver of the south--little respect.
jason taylor-averages 10 sacks per year over 12 year career. he and strahan should get in, as they're very comparable.
warren sapp-97 sacks as a DT. unblockable in his prime. an ass, to be sure. he'll get there eventually.
walter jones-nope. he's having problems now that hutchison went to minnesota.
LT-first ballot.

I can't believe he didn't put Marshall on the list...Ha!

Lewis, Lynch and Holt are the only ones on that list that would currently get in with no problem.
