Looks like we are continuing our offensive awesomeness from last years 65-51 game. Second play from scrimmage baby, and Cody is the man. 7-0 GO BUFFS!

Dumb play by Nebraska during the fake FG.
Followed by dumb clock management by CU at the end of the half.
Strange game so far.

I've now put Hawkins in the same camp as Barnett. Some of the most pathetic playcalling I've ever seen in a game. Hawkins coaching and playcalling is handicapping the effort of the players. How many times did he call that QB draw right up into the teeth of that D, ten times? Just abysmal. Really reminds me of Barnett's ineptitude. I few slants that he did try worked great, but he only called two of them. Quick slants were the perfect call against that D. Or screens, of which I didn't see one. Instead, Hawkins kept calling plays that took too long to set up and got Cody squashed. Just pathetic garbage.

Seeing as how they shouldn't have been in this game I am proud for CU. But Hawkins needs to go with another QB his son sucks. I think when you lose the equivalent of 100 games to injury, player wise it really effects your season. But results need to start coming.

Yeah you should be embarrassed that essentially the game came down to a record FG attempt. Nebraska is heads above CU this season and you team looked like ****.
Hey tell me about that billiant fake FG. Is that what you are laughing at?

It doesn't matter how much better we are then you its a big game for both teams. Tell me CU didn't want this game to get to a bowl game. I didn't get to watch the game but I heard NU was pretty flat during the first half. Im glad we won but most CU/NU fans can agree that more often then not these games should be a hard fought game.
As for the FG its awesome because our kicker couldn't hit a 30 yarder last year lol.

Nah it was a great game. I can't wait until the Cody Hawkins era at QB is over. Those 2 interceptions at the line were just sad.
The play of the game was that Fake FG debacle. That was awesome.

Who cares? I think the 57 yard FG after the sack to win the game was a much better play. So we tried a trick play and it didn't work. Thats why you only try them every great once and awhile. Did it affect the out come of the game at all? No it didn't so I don't see why its so important to you.

Great game Buffs. I still can't believe he made that 57 yarder, but I'll take it.
You guys came right out and exploited the fact that we have no safety play. You then took full advantage of a really terrible fake FG call. That one had me pissed off until the end of the game, but I guess if you gamble enough it will bite you occasionally.
I thought our D stepped up after those first two horrific drives, but our offense certainly did its part in shooting itself in the foot in the second half. All things considered, I'm more than happy to escape 8-4. It's a rivalry game, and nothing we have seen from Nebraska this year could validate making them 18 point favorites. Heck, the recent trend in this series has been for the heavy favorite to get their ass kicked by the underdog (62-36, 30-3), so this was no surprise. CU played like a team that wanted a bowl game, and once they get healthy next year they will be a bowl team for sure. Don't know what else to tell you. Everyone in that stadium thought you had it won, but Henery made the kick of his life.

Who cares we do. That was the worst trick play this year. It was a debacle.

We ran the same one against KU and it worked, but I remember thinking "there are so many things that could go terrible wrong on that play." Sure enough.
I respect the idea of trying to get a big play, maybe a shot at a 14 pt lead before half, but that was a terrible play call in that situation. But, hey, in the end it was no worse than a pick-6 or fumble return. Any dumb mistake that ends up in the opposition scoring is equally bad, really.
I'll also add: yes our defense sucks, and yes Hawkins played poorly late, but I thought the kid made some nice throws today. The first couple were wide open, but he made some impressive plays later. He may not be starter material in the Big XII, but I thought he played a tough game...when he wasn't getting sacked.

It's great to come in to see this thread a few days after the fact and see posts like this.
First and foremost, I have to say that was one of the most enjoyable games I have seen in this series in a long time if not ever. The way the Huskers kept CU in the game with stupid ass mistakes made it that much more interesting. I had all but conceded the game after the horrendus 15 yard sack of Ganz only to have the elation of seeing that kick sail through the upright. My house was a house divided as my parents were there and my dad is a Husker fan (hence me being branded at birth) and my mom is a CU fan, along with my GF.

Man that FG just sucked. Kudos to your kicker for making it. CU would have had to run a fake or go for it.

I was surprised the CU kicker made the 38 yarder, I looked at my dad and just said, of course he made it in this game! sheesh!

Yep. That's the biggest change that needs to be made. Cody isn't a D1 player. Beyond that, while the jury is still out on Hawkins, I think the program is headed in the right direction. The hole he had to dig the program out of was deep.
