Ha ha ha!

What a dumb sh*t.

SANTA FE, N.M. – A 21-year-old man was accused of driving drunk and leading police on a chase that finally ended with him running over himself. The man was treated for minor injuries at a Santa Fe hospital and booked in to the Sandoval County detention center on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, fleeing a police officer, careless driving and two other outstanding traffic warrants.

A tip to the state's DrunkBuster hot line Sunday afternoon alerted authorities to a possibly drunken driver.

State Police Officer Grace Romero spotted the man's pickup truck swerving across both lanes of a highway, driving slowly and then fast. He refused to stop.

After narrowly missing other vehicles, police said the suspect drove through a ditch and a barbed-wire fence before stopping. He tried to put the truck into park, but it ended up in reverse.

Police said the man fell from his open door and both of his legs were run over by the front driver's side tire.

Sadly, this guy will be out and working on his tally of 10+ DWI's before he ever sees real justice in this state. Let's hope he doesn't kill people.

Its always nice to see my home town making the headlines!

Havent lived there in a decade, but NM was always known for two things - teen age pregnancy and DWI. And #27 is correct, unfortunately. Dude will be out and about and boozing and cruising before long. Expect this guy to be driving home for an Xmas party loaded.

Ah, and yet I still miss it. I will, however, be there for Xmas. Posole on Xmas Eve is about the best thing going.

Might even have to get in the mood and do a little DWI myself. When in Rome...

:P

So, the Albuquerque Journal website has a video on its page that includes an interview with the arresting officer along with the actual dashboard cam of the event. Dude was DWI in the middle of the day & in a thirty second period nearly collides with 2 vehicles - the only other 2 vehicles in the vicinity. He also spent as much time off the road as on. The arresting officer noted that when she went to stop the vehicle that had run over the driver that the driver's seat "was soiled". She didnt mention whether it was #1 or #2. She also saw a 1 and 3/4 liter bottle of vodka.

The story never gave the name or hometown of the guy, which I found odd cuz he was 21. Usually they give that stuff. However, I think I now know why. At the end of the interview, the arresting officer stated that the drunk got off the interstate at the wrong exit. He meant to get off at the Santo Domingo exit. For those familiar with the area, that means only one thing - he was headed to the Santo Domingo Indian Pueblo.

Ya know, had it been a middle aged white dude like me, I beat they woulda splashed my name, photo, and hometown on the news. Got love PC, baby.
