Man, this dude isn't mature enough to run Toon Town, let alone a nation. Dude needs to learn some restraint and some presidentiality (no, not a word but neither is 'wessonality'). Cracking jokes at the expense of a woman who's currently nursing a broken hip and likely mourning her husband still won't end the world, but it sure as hell isn't distinguished, let alone funny. I'm sure you'll all point to Bush for the stupid things he said (and you'd be correct)--raise your standards of comparison. Unlike Obama, at least Bush didn't make his acceptance speech an automatic reduction of expectations after promising the world. Thank God Biden didn't get to speak.
Obama says in his first post-election press conference that he's spoken to all the former presidents — Carter, Bush, Clinton, as well as the current Bush — and, looser than he's been in months, dares a joke at the expense of the widow of a deceased one.
"I have spoken to all of them who are living," he says. "I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances," he says.
He was responding to a question, from the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet, about whether he'd spoken to all of the "living" former presidents.
He was apparently referring to the reports in the 1980s that Nancy Reagan consulted an astrologer while in the White House. Mary Todd Lincoln, however, reportedly held actual séances. Hillary Clinton also reportedly held imaginary conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt.

Weak, and with chosing Palin as his running mate don't even get me started about how unfit McCain was to run the country with such horrid decision making skills.

SmilingAss is bucking for head dork on the short bus, and early returns have him neck and neck for the leadhead award given out for most incomprehensible twerp in a tragic comedy following the complete destruction of a political party.

I seriously doubt that Nancy Reagan would take offense at poking a little fun at one of the more bizarre things that was in the news about the former first lady. I could be wrong...

I guess what makes this thread completely retarded is the fact that Barack apologized. Bush, McCain, Romney, Guiliani and Huckabee are entirely unrepentant of anything that they have done or will do.
This thread shows more about you than about Obama.
John McCain to his core is very much about honor, loyalty, and having a sense of humor. You should consider re-listening to John McCain's speech and if that is indeed your candidate my hope is that you would act like it.

Oh no, black man makes a joke about death, we better have us a congressional hearing.
This is like 1997 when they needed a congressional hearing because rap music had references to violence and sex, for 100 years they had no problem with white men shooting black men, but when a black man sings about violence it is a problem the government needs to take seriously.
Last call the biggotry train, last call.

I believe that this Smiling guy is the one who said that bushisms were what he thought were "endearing" to people. Maybe not, but it is representative of the reasoning ability of these neocon crackpots on here. Some of McCain's efforts at making "jokes" were so profoundly flat, that I worried the groans would drown out his speech. Turns out, the groans probably did....

You're being easy on them. Just reverse everything Bush has done. It'll be good for the country and kill THEM one act at a time.

This will make smiling ass's day:
Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama's staff is taking an
``across-the-board'' look at Bush administration actions and executive
orders that Obama may reverse upon taking office, said John Podesta,
head of Obama's transition team.
The potential policy reversals include measures taken by President George W.
Bush on climate change, stem-cell research, reproductive rights and oil and
gas drilling on federal lands.
``I'm not going to preview decisions that he has yet to make,'' Podesta said
``But I would say that as a candidate, Senator Obama said that he wanted
all the Bush executive orders reviewed, and decide which ones should be
kept, and which ones should be repealed, and which ones should be amended.''
Among the first orders to be reversed may be two that Bush signed shortly
after taking office in 2001. One of those barred the use of U.S. funds by
family planning groups overseas that provide abortion counseling. Critics call
the policy a ``gag rule'' and say it hampers medical care.
Another is the limit on federal funding for embryonic stem- cell research,
a restriction that some scientists say hampers study to combat diseases
such as Parkinson's. Obama, like many Democrats and some Republicans
in Congress, backs funding such research.

There is a lot of racism in the world. I don't think calling our Barack on this was directly associated with that.
Ironically one of the beautiful things that Barack is going to do is flush out all the Politically Correct ways of communicating. We need to have a little thicker skins while our weaker minded brothers develop their new vocabulary. Freedom of speech requires honesty as well as tolerance.
Our financial situation is so brutal and ugly that ultimately race will become less of a factor as we re-learn how to pull together to get out of this mess.

Wow seriously? Did you even see the press conference? It was a throwaway line Obama used because he said something about speaking with every President, and then had to go back and amend that to only the living ones, and then threw in a joke. The reporters all mildly laughed and they moved on.
The entire press conference was somewhat lighthearted. There are alot of things that Obama can be called out on, but this really petty and is really reaching to the bottom of the barrell. Be patient, I'm sure there are some real issues Obama will screw up on soon that you can get all worked up over.
Oh, and he also had a line in the press conference about getting a mixed breed dog, or a "mutt like me". I'm surprised you didn't post a blaring headline here saying "OBAMA IS A RACIST AND HATES PUPPIES!!1". ::)
