Let's keep 'em separate. Gunn's can be the presidential ticker. Just heard Nora O'Donnell report that a bigshot in the RNC told her that Dole is toast in NC. Looks like that seat will be going to a Dem. Dole ran a truly nasty campaign.

I actually voted for Senator Graham. The stooge they put on the Democratic ticket was farther right than he was on many issues believe it or not. And he wasn't too bright, either. I actually kind of like Graham. He is generally a pragmatist, which is one of the most important things I look for in a candidate.

Precisely why Graham got my vote. Graham is a principled man and a pragmatist--not an idealogue. That, and the "Democrat" simply wasn't too bright (watch the debates if you don't believe me).

Yes you're right. That seat was not contested, and Olympia Snowe is Maine's other senator, also a moderate Republican. You're probably thinking of House seats, footsteps ... moderate GOP Christopher Shays of CT lost tonight. As hard as it is to believe, I think all of New ENgland's House seats are now Democrats.
REPUBLICAN SENATE LOSSES: John Sununu lost in New Hampshire, Dem Mark Warner won retiring GOP Senator John Warner's seat, Dem Kay Hagan beat Liddy Dole in NC (as was posted), and with 1,300,000 votes cast in MN, Democrat Al Franken is 1,100 votes behind Norm Coleman. It looks like Democrats picked up retiring GOP Senate seats in CO and NM, too.
In other contested races, Mitch McConnell and Saxby Chambliss held on for the GOP, and Mary Landrieu held for the Dems in Louisiana. Looks like Ted Stevens is holding on in AK ... but unsurprisingly, the vote countin' takes a liitle bitta time "up north."
So it'll prolly be 57 including Sanders and Lieberman.
Both senators from Maine, Washington and California are women ;D

I watched the debates, believe me there was a link from one of your local stations that was provided at another forum I am on. I watched the Debate and to be honest, Grahamnesty just sounded like another hack politician, which he is. On the other hand Bob Conley doesn't have the greatest speaking skills but I assume that is because he is extremely new to politics.

Coleman declared victory, but the AP has retracted giving him the race, and evidently there will be a recount beginning sometime in mid-november. The Georgia race will also go to a recount. And Stevens seat could still be up for grabs if he is forced to resign. There's also the Oregon race, as well, waiting on some votes.

Excerpt:
Republican Norm Coleman finished ahead of Al Franken in the final vote count, but his 571-vote margin falls within the state's mandatory recount law. That law requires a recount any time the margin between the top two candidates is less than one-half of 1%.

Democrats, Republicans still await final count in Senate: there will be a Franken recount and GOP chickenhawk Chambliss forced into run-off. Democrat Merkley appears to have defeated Gordon Smith in Oregon, but GOP felon Ted Stevens still ahead, pending full absentee ballot count. NEW YORK - NBC News projects Democrat Jeff Merkley as the winner in the Oregon Senate race, ousting Republican incumbent Gordon Smith.
A last-minute flood of ballots on Election Day slowed vote returns in a number of Oregon counties rich with Democrats, delaying a decision on who won the seat.
Merkley's victory gives Democrats their sixth new seat and leaves the Senate at 55 Democrats, 40 Republicans and two Independents, with three races — Alaska, Minnesota and Georgia — yet to be decided

True that. He did break from W the last two years, but everybody knew that
he only did it becasue he was smart enough to see the disaster that continuing to support W would be , politically.
He actually isn't that bad of a senator in terms of reresenting the state, and I will keep a close eye on Merkleys votes...he tends to like taxes too much! Smith is a hypocrite about immigration. He loves those undocumented workers that package his frozen foods...the ones that don't exist out there in eastern Oregon.

Scott Rafferty: Why Al Franken Will be Minnesota's Next Senator "No one should be surprised if Democrat Al Franken is elected to the U.S. Senate in the Minnesota vote count or canvass, which is not completed until Nov. 18, and that a statewide hand recount, an election contest in Minnesota courts, and the United States Senate will all confirm this result." 11/13 (http://www.alternet.org/democracy/106625/)

Wow ... that's dynamite.
No way stupid filthy Chambliss loses the runoff, though. I read a thing about the recall election and its demographics, and it looks like very slim chances the Democrat will win. The turnout generated by Obama on November 4 will be under-incentivized to show up without him on the ballot, and apparently the Obama people are questioning whether it's even proper for a president-elect to campaign in person in Georgia. It's too bad, because Saxby Chambliss is human refuse.
