The McCain campaign has seemed like a celebration of sheer stupidity....with people like Goldfarb at it's helm, I now know for sure why that is.

I've asked one question for 4 years of those who voted for and supported Bush, why are we in Iraq, one good reason. I have yet to get an answer that would justify the deaths of so many. Now I have been asking those that are voting for McCain why. None have given me anything they like about McCain, most don't even like Palin, but they do not want Obama, he's going to raise their taxes. They can't tell me how they know this, they just do. And that's all they know. Sheep. Previously the silent majority.

I feel your frustration. I've asked several conservatives why they like McCain and the most I get is that they really don't like him.

It's because he has the (R) behind his name.

You hear what you want to hear and don't hear what you'd like to ignore. It's that simple. Bush had a very large population supporting the Iraq War in it's early days. If it were ONLY about WMD, those could have been bombed with no committed ground forces. If you thought it was only about WMD back then, you were naive. If you think Obama is magically going to cure all our ills by taxing the rich and those rich with all the extra money to spend aren't going to find the loopholes as they always do... then you're naive once again. Voting for president is voting for the BEST candidate. You don't withold your vote until you find a candidate you'd want to marry your sister. Some people might see Mccain as the BEST candidate and if that's more so due to their dislike of Obama's theories, how is that not a valid reason?

So what exactly is it that's I've not heard or have not heard because I chose to ignore it? What answer would that be. I don't think it was about WMD, how could it have been when that was a lie. People supported the war because of the lies they were fed and some stupid notion that Bush would pull out of there once HIS mission was accomplished like his father. So tell me why were are in Iraq? I'll listen.

That's fine if they can tell what they don't like about Obama. But they are merely spouting what they've heard. Theories? They don't even know that Obama or McCain has a theory. Sorry I live in Utah, infamous for their sheep. If you don't like the guy, fine, I'm just asking why. And they can't answer why, just they don't like him because he'll raise taxes, and when asked how they know that, they can't answer. No one can say he'll raise taxes, it's merely political rhetoric. I could say the same thing about McCain and it would mean the same thing, nothing.

See, I still get no answer to my questions. Just why do I.....

Really? Then what was it about, because all I remember was WMD being shoved done everybody's throats, from Colin Powell at the UN to yellow cake to the smoking gun being a mushroom cloud. And don't give the excuse of 9/11, thats Afghanistan. Because I heard all that crap, and if you questioned it you where labeled as giving "aid and comfort" to Americas enemies.

How was Iraq a threat that we had to invade, if not by WMD?

I thought we all basically saw it as and generally agreed that the possibility was there for WMD but the the end result was that the world was a better place without Hussein. One week Hussein would comply with the UN Security Council resolutions and the next week he wouldn't. We invaded because the possibility was there and because he wasn't following rules so the time came. If I recall correctly, the first UN Resolution (the one that passed, where everyone voted in favor of military action against Iraq) was more-so due to violations of the previous resolutions and less so because anyone knew with absolute certainty what he actually had. When it came time to commit a UN force, everyone balked and a few veto'd it. Bush might have been spouting the absolute presence of WMD at the time but it was moreso the possibility of such and Saddam's on again, off again cooperation with the UN that really got things moving.

OK, you didn't specify that you were refering to the folks where you live, I thought it was implied that you were refering to the non-Obama folks on this site. I've seen many good, well written, and logical arguements for both candidates. Your statement seemed to suggest that everyone that voted for Mccain was doing it for a racial agenda, simple partisanship, or because they just ignorantly want to take up a cause. You're selling the other side short there.

And when someone says they don't like Obama's plans, the implied message there is that they do like Mccain's instead. If that can't be taken for granted, you're talking to a fool and wont be any better off after the conversation anyways so it's probably time to just turn off the ears and stop listening.
