The sad thing is that they did play better as a team on Monday. That matador run defense that serves as speed bumps for opponents actually did what it was supposed to do, which was to bottle up Chris Johnson and LenDale White. With Dungy going to four linebackers, the Colts dared Tennessee to beat them with the pass -- and the Titans could not.

I posted this a thought a week ago to a less than positive Response. What do we think Now?

D would look like this

EE Thomas Robertson J. Moss

Woodyard Niko Webster DJ

I thought about the 4-4 a couple weeks ago, but to pull that off we really need a ballhawk safety. Plus With champ out for a while, we don't have the DB's to pull it off.

You don't think Marquand Manual is a ballhawk.

What are you afraid will happen? Are you afraid that Defenses will complete 75% of their Passes against us?

~lol~ Sure he is... and a run stopper as well.

The problem with the 4-4 or a strict scheme change up front is that it will not stop the front 4 from missing gap control, missing assignments, clogging the right lanes.

We do have some talent up front now but what I've seen the past couple of weeks is a disturbing break down in CONTROL of what's happening up front.

The DL is not staying in their rush lanes, they're free lancing to try and make plays up field and in misdirection plays, screen, runs going to the perimeter there guys are getting fooled into losing control.

This means that any decent RB will step through untouched to the backers and safeties. All of whom take turns sucking and missing tackles resulting in big play after big play.

Schemes aren't going to fix anything.

Slowik and Burney need to get the front four to play honest, disciplined, ****ing football.

Our defense suck so bad, even other defenses can move the ball on us! LOL

I'm all for it, but I think we should go all the way if we are going to shake things up.

Yep, you're right - i'm talking about the 4-4-3-8. I think we would finally limit those long third down completions.

The good thing is when you have fallen to the place we are at is anything and everything is worth a try. I think the only true failure at this point would be doing more of the same. Roll the dice and try something new. They should have a big spinney wheel for blitz or no blitz and just let it all hangout. If we get burned....we expected it anyways.

We might also get penalized for having 17 players on the field, but hey - its worth a try.

Wait, didn't Tenn still put up 31 offensive points and dominate time of possesion?

14 pts in the final 5 minutes of the game.....one TD resulting from a Manning pick.

Another field goal drive started in Indy territory.

All in all, the Indy defense played really well from the second drive of the game until 3/4 of the way through the 4th quarter. The final score was tainted by the last few minutes, which turned into garbage time.

I'll take your word, because I didn't watch, but I'm under the impression that offensive miscues have no bearing on a defense.

If Cutler throws a pick-6 or turns the ball over in field goal range, and the defense holds them out of the EZ, giving up only the fg, do you blame the defense for those scores?

No, I was being facetious. I think our defense sucks, but I also think our offense has made it look worse than it really is. I'm poking fun at anyone that blames the defense as Denver's only problem right now.

Only if Jay cutler is the QB.

If Plummer is the QB, he gets the blame regardless ;)

Our linebackers absolutely suck. What about going to a 5-4?

^^ Plummer sucked, it was obvious to 99% of the people out there. This years team is not playing with heart. I mind the Broncos losing if they are competitive but to lose like they are a bunch of high school chumps who don't give a **** is bad, really really bad.

I would be happy with a 5-3.

In the win-loss column after this weekend.

Interesting that Tennessee is 7-0 with one of the worst QB's in the league.

I wouldn't be so quick to give him that label. There are a lot of really bad QBs out there right now. Two in our division alone.

Collins is not horrible, but then again he is benefitting from a fantastic run game.

But still, Collins is doing a good job.
Not great, but he has been solid

I think you've cracked the case! The fastest way to improve our D is to bring Plummer back!

We need to petition the NFL to put 22 defensive guys on the field. Then, and only then, would we be able to stop somebody...LOL
