Does our OQ call the plays on O ? Cause i wonder if maybe Shanny should take over play calling ... he scripts the first 15 and we do really well and then we slow down after that ... so if shanny picks the first 15 for the script maybe he should just call them all ...

Jeremy Bates, QB Coach, calls all the plays.

Some plays should never have been used like a run up the gut on 3 and long or some inspector gadget play on 3rd and long that wouldn't fool a peewee defense.

The problem with our offense is simple. No ground game worth caring about, bad ball security and injuries.
The past few weeks we have been without Royal, Scheff, and Stokley. Marshall is the only guy who has been consistant receiving threat who is around every game.
And back to not having a running game no teams we face care about, and see as a non-factor. The first couple weeks of the season our running game was still seen as a threat because we always run the ball really well and have been a run first team in the past up til this season.
This season after a few games, everyone in the league knew we were a Passing team without a legit rushing threat. So instead of seeing 7 and 8 man defensive fronts, we are seeing the opposition dropping LB's into coverage to stop our passing game. Now instead of seeing teams covering our receivers with one DB, they are blanketing our receivers.
To turn the offense around we need ball security and a good running game.

I don't buy that. The Broncos have are averaging 4.6 yards a carry this season. That's really good. It's the turnovers, injuries and lack of big plays down field.

Yards don't mean a damn thing. Look at our offensive production of yards since Ports was traded. We are always a top team in terms of offensive yardage output, but look at points scored. Yards don't mean a damn thing if we can't score.
And that rushing output is inflated because for every rush of 10 yards we have, there is rush for a loss of 4, also those are yards between the 20's, not in the red zone.
Every team in the league knows, stop our pass and none of our running game as a whole isn't going to generate enough offense to carry us, because we don't have anyone with enough talent to carry the load and be a force for us.
We need now and have since we traded Portis a new feature RB that requires a defense to acknowlede and locate him on the field. That is the easiest way to make our offense dynamic and explosive for more than a few game
And the reason we don't have any plays for big yards down the field is because our Receivers are being blanketed because we don't have a good enough running game to be a threat and warrant keeping extra men near the line of scrimmage, so our receivers and TE's are being blanketed taking away opportunity for big plays

No question we need a legitimate back.
The days of trading Denver backs is over. Only Portis survived, it's a testament to him as he's been beat up and over-used. All other ex-denver backs are out of the league.

I don't think the sky is falling.
We lost to Jax because of turnovers, no doubt about that.
And we lost to NE - even with the gaudy final score - also because of turnovers. Andre Hall fumbled away two early good drives, but even so NE only led 6-0 well into the 2nd quarter. The score snowballed eventually, but had we scored some quick points early, I don't think that wouldda happened. We might've even won.
So all this hand-wringing about schemes and play-calling means little to me. Hold onto the ball and we're a playoff team.

i agree completely, i just feel that if we had a legit rushing threat or a good feature RB we would still be seeing our offense putting up 27+ points a game, and Jay would not have as many INT's as TD's the past few games. With ball security we will be a better team, but i don't see us matching our offensive output of weeks 1,2, and 3 the rest of the season.
We might hit 20 points again but we aren't going to see our offense score at will the rest of the season.

see this is where stats don't tell the story. Broncos aren't getting any big plays from the running game and likewise they aren't picking up the tough yrds inside on 3rd and short and 4th and short.
The running games hasn't been able to keep us out of having to throw like it used to. We need better rb's plain and simple. Selvin Young too small, Pittman too old, Andre Hall not good enough.
