If Ryan Fitzpatrick is on your team, he's going to play. He was a backup QB in Tennessee and replaced Locker due to an injury.

He was a starter in Houston but eventually was demoted. A week or two later, a QB that was replacing him was injured.

Now he's in NY and replacing Geno due to a broken jaw.

I like that it's generally understood that Sam isn't playing football because he's not good at it.

In a sad, ironic way, he might have made some real progress for gay football players after all.

The reason he is stressed is because he isn't very good. He knew that and that is why b he came out of the closet. Now he has a career of income doing a book tour and speeches around the country.

In a sad, ironic way, he might have made some real progress for gay football players after all.

It was reported last week that his teammates were basically turning against him. First because when he initially left it was because he was pouting over a comment that he was not very good and then was welcomed back with no questions, getting too much of the focus for the wrong reasons. One of the biggest things was he was collecting a huge check that the CFL rarely pays out and left, came back, and was still not very good. Much better players never saw that kind of money.

there were extenuating circumstances. it looks like the Sparklers are moving to LA. and Rivers is not a big city kind of guy according to the statements he's made in the past, so he might have been tempted to take an offer with another team that's not going to be the zoo that playing in LA will be. CA state income taxes are also really high. going to a team in FL or TX would have saved him quite a bit in taxes. there were reasons for him to go, so it wasn't a done deal.

Indeed. Though he started well, he began to fall into old habits, and then ran in a touchdown. It could go either way, but it depends on how they want to use him. It'd be interesting to see how he does when playing on 1st string vs 1string. That would be a different picture I think. I wish him only well.

This summer has been hot and sunny pretty much every day. We broke all sorts of heat and low rainfall records this summer. Up until Sunday we had less than 1 inch of rain in 2.5 months. I was excited to get that rain, my lawn is pretty much dead. Basically in Seattle: Winter and Spring=Rain Summer and early Fall is wonderful and sunny.

Also on topic. I hate those 12 "Fan" jerseys so much. I want to laugh at every person who wears one of those. So your favorite part of the team is you..that's nice.

Palmer was not a franchise QB when that took place, Elway nor Eli were ever going to play a down for the teams that drafted them, Manning and Favre were allowed to leave due to certain situations and chances to replace them with younger QB's who could prolong their ability to contend.

Drew Brees had a wrecked shoulder and there was doubt he would ever play again.

For the most part, short of injury or age, franchise QB's are not allowed to get to FA until they are nearly all washed up.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals and free-agent running back Chris Johnson agreed to a one-year deal Monday, according to media reports.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports the deal could be worth up to $2 million. Fox Sports first reported the agreement.

Johnson rushed for 663 yards and a touchdown on 155 carries last season with the New York Jets after spending his first six seasons with the Tennessee Titans. His last 1,000-yard season was in 2013, his final year with the Titans. Johnson rushed for 2,006 yards in 2009.

"I feel like I'm the best quarterback in the league, and I have to go out and show that," he told the station. "Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they're not a top competitor, they're not trying to be the best that they can be.

"There's guys in this league that have done way more than me. But I still view myself as the best because that's what I work toward every single day."

It really is NOT a stupid question, it exposes a fatal flaw of the "me" generation. They lack any real respect or consideration for the learning and development process. He "FEELS" like he is the best QB, but he does not know better. He really does not. And the biggest problem with that is his enabled behavior that stops him from learning and developing accordingly.

-The Packers have a great schedule and play almost every tough team at home except Denver and Arizona. I think they will be the #1 seed in the NFC.
-The Dolphins have a great schedule too. They should start off 5-1 or maybe 6-0. Look at their first six games: @WAS, @JAC, BUF, NYJ, @TEN, HOU.
They also play 4 of their last 5 games at home. If they don't make the playoffs this year then they should fire their coach. By far the most favorable schedule of any potential playoff team.
-Ravens got screwed to open their season. 5 of their first 7 games are on the road.
-Steelers play 4 AFC playoff teams in a row in the last 5 weeks (IND, CIN, BAL, DEN). Yikes

The kid has all the physical tools and none of the mental side. We see that kind of Poser all the time in the NFL Robert. Ask Rahim Moore......

I'm pretty sure the medical term for it is Cutler Syndrome.

I still think KC got the shaft with those first four games. If yall lose the opener to Houston, 0-4 is a very real possibility. Not saying that trying to be a hater, either.

I agree that if the Dolphins don't make the playoffs with that schedule, it's time to move on from that coaching staff. Would love to see Brady's suspension upheld and Miami challenge for the division.

LOL I wasn't ready.
That is simply a question that you do not answer or at least given in that form given the controversy surrounding you.
You have 2 HC's who want nothing to do with you.
One got fired and now the new coach seems to be willing to allow you to fail and then bring in his own guy.

That is a incendiary comment that was not needed for your team. Just shut up, win the competition and show us how good you are.

I agree with all of this 100% in regard to what is shows us about the way he sees himself and how that limits him as a player. What's the old saying about how the smartest dude is the one who knows how much he doesn't know?

I still think the question is a stupid one, though. They may as well have approached him with, "Robert, demonstrate for us what you've learned about the media's capacity to give you a safe place to speak your delusional mind." Do you really think there's a journalist out there truly digging to find the best quarterback in the NFL? They just want to cast out a line and see who bites.

If I ran a football team there'd be training and reward programs for responding to the media, with incentives and bonuses for the most banal, most efficient, most cliched, most whatever. It seems like the easiest thing in the world to me, and yet guys like RGIII constantly are tripping all over themselves either being earnest or idiotic or both.

he absolutely was. Listening to the local Charlotte sports radio, Benjamin was the 3rd most important guy on the team, behind Cam and Kuechly.

Their WR corps is really, really thin right now - Jerricho Cotchery and Ted Ginn are now their most seasoned WR's.

I am talking Fantasy Football...not his impact to the team specifically.

Fantasy wise, he's right around the 15th or 16th best receiver in terms of ADP. But hey, draft him wherever you like...just my opinion that you don't build a FANTASY team around the guy.

If you play in a 12+ league with deep enough rosters and competitive owners, he's got serious value. Mix his target opportunity with his redzone ability with improving in his second year. If your league is deep enough he's absolutely a potential #1 guy, I think.

For the record, we use a two-keeper system and I was planning on keeping Gronk and CJ. McCoy and Benjamin were two guys I traded for during the season last year.

I don't disagree. I am only saying, I flexed him a few times last year and he wasn't very consistent. For sure in a 12+ team league he is valuable, considering I said he was rated as the 15th or 16th guy and most rosters allow 2 WRs.

Yes I have. Last night I do believe that Gruden played it poorly by allowing him to go through that because it did establish an excuse for doing nothing. I don't believe anything would have been different if Gruden had pulled him or protected him. He's not an NFL QB. It's either he's lost all of his talent or he's tripping over his ego.

RGIII and Shanahan was a bad mix of egos.
Once RGIII had the rookie success he felt as if he was untouchable, once Shanahan proved he could utilized RGIII and make him into a star then he felt untouchable as well.
Each likely feeling as if they made the other look like a genius.

Now when you push Shanahan out you are left with a coach who has no allegiance to you(not that Shanahan did eithere) and someone who will force you to prove you are as good as you proclaim yourself to be.

There is a easy solution to this problem. RGIII needs to shut his mouth and bust his ass to be a NFL QB who can also utilize his legs without placing himself at a significant injury risk.

Shanny has had problems with most of his QBs.

Elway steered clear of Dove Valley after his playing days were done. lots of rumors of bad blood between Shanny and Elway IIRC.

Shanny replaced him with Griese who didn't excel here.

then came Plummer and we all know how that turned out.

then Cutler.

then RGIII.

not really a great track record if you ask me. sure, Elway won 2 SBs under him, but Shanny's ego and high expectations seemed to always cause him problems with his QBs.

Shanny's problems weren't on the offensive side of the ball, they were mostly GM issues, drafting guys like Tovessi and giving big FA paydays to iHop and Carter, signing trash DT's like Pittman and trading for the Browns DL (though I liked the DE who was made of glass).

It's not completely revisionist. People glossed over it since we won a lot under him.
Part of the rumored reason Elway stayed away from the franchise after he retired was due to Shanahan being mad that he would not come back for one more year and chase a 3peat.

Shanahan does have a ego problem. He was great for us for a prolonged period of time and he helped bring us 2 super bowl championships.
But his hubris also helped bring about the fall of the franchise.
Horrendous cap management, awful draft picks and terrible coaching hires on the defensive side of the ball.

This post hurts my brain.

The only real issues Shanny had with a QB was with Plummer who (my 2nd fav Bronco QB since Elway, btw, but he earned getting replaced):

- Had DRAMATICALLY his most successful seasons under Shanahan (like EVERY OTHER ****ing QB)
- Blew off off-season workouts
- Crapped down his leg all year after Cutler was breathing down his neck

And kind of RGIII whose face-of-the-franchise relationship with Dan Snyder is as poisonous as it gets (also looked elite/electric under Shanahan and like dog **** ever since)

Let's be honest here - Plummer's success was due to Kubiak.

Wait you're going to talk about Shanahan + Steve young but only give Gary credit for Schaub?

Schaub has put up better numbers than ALL those QBs I listed including John Elway.

Oh and Joe Flacco? Who threw for the most TD's in his career last season?

Shanahan's greatest successes were when Kubiak was running the offense.
