NFL is too corporate at times. They have only now gotten domestic violence in some semblance of important order.
They only care about how off the field actions affect the public's perception of the league.

DT isn't the type to do stupid stuff in the offseason. Considering he doesn't really lose anything until the season starts and game checks start getting forfeited, it makes little sense for him to show up and possibly get hurt in OTAs.

haha So says the QB that it took 13 straight years to win 1 SB.. That had to suck..guess it still does for you ..which is worse the fact that it took your boy Elway 13 years or my man Peyton only 7 to win..;)

Elway has 2, Peyton 1. Elway retired with 2 straight SB wins and went out on top.
Everything you say means nothing until Peyton gets #2.

1998 1999 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 = 7 years??

More proof she doesn't know Mannings rookie year.

Manning 1 SB wins in 17 career seasons(including 2015 cause I believe he won't win it).
Elway 2 SB wins in 16 career seasons.

But he won it in 7! Haha insane logic. Every single person on earth would take 2 in 16 over 1 in 16-17 no matter when it's won.

Big Ben won 2 in his 1st 5 years so he must be the best QB ever!!!

no one would take that bet. Or a bet suggesting the Chargers. Outside of the AFC west, i think he may end up in the NFC. Cap not withstanding, Carolina or New Orleans could finally take control of their division with some real horsepower at WR. Maybe the Vikings? they are going to stay buried in that division (with top WR talents on each team) unless they find a game changer at WR to help teddy B.

Then there's always the Redskins.

Yep. Every position will go up. Talking 160M by 2016? Ha! That's like 30 + more than just a few years ago. There's a push at the WR position because a high percentage of elite WRs are all in contract moves around the same time. All DTs agent is doing is waiting for Jerry Jones to drop a huge number. And that rises the guaranteed money.

I agree.

The entire world except one psycho evaluates DT to be better than Mike Wallace. So it has to be higher than the 2nd highest WR contract out there. Wallace got a lot in guarantees so it's gotta be higher on that end too.

Big mistake to reduce a 10 game suspension to 4. Hardy avoided jail time and flowed a ton of money to the victim to not testify. Now he gets off with a light 4 game. Basically this just tells him he can get away with beating up chicks while on Yayo

As far as it happening before the 6 game mandatory was made a rule, I responded by saying there was no 6 game suspension rule when Ray Rice had his incident. You can't even refute that so you just ignored it. If Ray Rice was before, Hardy should be held with the same standard, or Rice treated as Hardy is. Rice gets indefinite auto suspension but Hardy doesn't. Both happened BEFORE Goodell invented this 6 game mandatory garbage. Rice getting a 2 game suspension is proof that there was no 6 game auto when his incident occurred.

Sorry, but I keep punching you in the face.

Manning is going to get benched this season for Brock my mid-season. His best chance at ring #2 was 2012 and 2013 but he choked them both away. It is over. Even with 2 he will still only half as much as Brady. lol.

What a fake bitch! You wouldn't dare to speak that way about Peyton at the Colts forum. That's your second home and you wouldn't want to be banned.

Chick is going to be awesome playing 30 pounds lighter for the Steelers. His 10 yard burst was the same as Vic Beasley IIRC.

He will be one of the better rookies this season. I'm really happy for him that he will finally be allowed to get upfield in a 1 gap system at his natural weight.

The Top Three Players On Each AFC Team: Who Made The Cut?

1.) Chris Harris Jr.

Harris may not receive the attention similarly to the likes of Richard Sherman or Darrelle Revis, but he is every bit as good. Often overlooked due to his size, 5-foot-10 and 199 pounds, he proved last season that he is among the league's elite. The former undrafted free agent did not allow a single touchdown pass his way and only has four years of experience.

2.) Von Miller

Miller has been a top-tier pass rusher since entering the league as the second overall pick in '11, racking up 11.5 sacks as a rookie. He followed that up by totaling 18.5 the next year. However, in '13, he tore his ACL in the middle of the season, forcing him to miss the rest of the year. Some thought that he would not be fully healthy for the '14 season, but he proved doubters wrong, totaling 14 sacks and putting up another overall elite performance. At just 26 years old, he is just now entering his prime.

3.) Demaryius Thomas

Thomas would be the best player on many teams, as he is coming off of his fourth straight year with over 1,400 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns. His stats may be inflated to an extent, but his talent justifies his production. Demaryius Thomas is a fast, quick receiver with great size at 6-foot-3 and 229 pounds. He is also a reliable hand-catcher with refined routes. With him now in his prime at 27 years old and locked up under contract, the Broncos have a great receiver situation.

Honorable Mentions:

Peyton Manning is slowing down, but despite that he is still one of the league's top quarterbacks. The only reason he is in the honorable mentions here is because of the immense talent on the team. Louis Vasquez will never garner much attention, being a guard, but he is a high-quality starter. T.J. Ward had a good season as a first-year Bronco, but he is nearing the end of his prime, as he is set to turn 29 by the end of the season.

I think most assume he will be less of a factor in Kubiak's scheme. He is still THE player on this team but his impact will be somewhat mitigated with the running scheme.

Deciding his character issues outweighed his enormous talent and salary-cap hit, the New Orleans Saints will release outside linebacker Junior Galette, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

Galette, 27, signed a four-year, $41.5 million contract extension last September. But he has since been involved in two high-profile allegations of violence that could also have him facing a league suspension.

KING GUARANTEES LIONS WON’T GO 0-16

Posted by Mike Florio on October 27, 2008, 11:42 a.m.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated said moments ago on The Dan Patrick Show that the 0-7 Lions won’t finish the season 0-16.

In fact, King guarantees it.

“They will play hard,” King said. “At some point, they’ll do enough good things to win a game.”

He points to December visits from the Vikings and Saints to windy Ford Field (yeah, we’re beating that one into the ground like the “Hello” voice) as possible sources of that elusive (to date) first win.

(We think that the best/only chance is the December 7 visit from Minnesota and its “keep it close and hope to get lucky late” approach to which we refer in these parts as “Chillyball.”)

King thinks that the Bengals have a better chance of leaving the donut in the “W” column through Week Seventeen. The ingredient are there: (1) no quarterback; (2) a coach who’s being tuned out; and (3) players who don’t care.lol

Worst case (if you can even call it that): the Seahawks franchise Wilson next spring and he'll have to play on a one-year deal for something north of $22 million. But as La Canfora points out, the Seahawks don't want to be the first team to offer a player a fully guaranteed deal, or even one that's 80 percent guaranteed, which is why there's a good chance Wilson is playing for $1.54 million next season.

Is he?
Well ****

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts have released starting right tackle Gosder Cherilus, the team announced Sunday.

He was one of the main free-agent acquisitions by the Colts in 2013, when Cherilus signed a five-year, $34 million contract.

Cherilus failed to live up to his contract despite starting 29 games the past two seasons. He battled knee, shoulder and groin problems last season before eventually being placed on injured reserve prior to the playoffs.

The 31-year-old Cherilus had offseason knee surgery, which kept him from taking part in organized team activities, including a mandatory three-day minicamp in June.

Indianapolis tried to restructure Cherilus' contract before cutting him, according to an NFL source. Cherilus' agent Greg Diulus also acknowledged contract negotiations when discussing his client's release.

If they don't want to pay him more than any quarterback in history, someone will.

I'd JUMP at the chance at signing him to that kind of deal...top QB pay, 80% guaranteed 6 years.

I've heard all the counter arguments, doesn't throw a lot, risk of injury while running, team won because of overall strength over his personnel production, etc.

Don't care. Kid is cool as ice under pressure, does what it takes to win, makes big plays, is a leader and doesn't turn the ball over while playing with a good level of aggressiveness.

If KC had Russel Wilson right now, with our current roster, we would probably be Super Bowl favorites.

Same core, except the surrounding talent has improved across the board, in case you haven't been paying attention.

Last years receivers were

Bowe - cut, only team interested was Cleveland.
Avery - cut, still unemployed
AJ Jenkins - cut still unemployed
Frankie Hammond - won't even make the team
Albert Wilson - UDFA last year that started the year hurt and finally got healthy/up to speed in the playbook late in the year.
Junior Hemmingway - STer

2015 receivers

Jeremy Maclin can do everything at receiver and only dropped 1 ball last year
Albert Wilson had 209 yards in his last 3 games with Alex
Chris Conley unbelievably talented rookie with crazy, raw speed.
Jason Avant I'd prefer someone else, but the guy is a dependable possession receiver.
Deanthony Thomas playmaker

I'd also like to note that Maclin is the slowest receiver not named Avant on that list.

I think those improvements at receiver will help provide the offense with more firepower, by far.

Cause you got some wide receiver? Please. You're also expecting your inside linebacker, who'll be 33 mins you, to come back to top form even though he tore his Achilles last season and your safety to come back from friggin cancer!!

Sorry, there's nothing about that team that's vastly improved. Hopefully improved perhaps but y'all didn't add Aaron Rodgers last time I checked

Who said we expect Berry to return?

Btw we had the #2 pass defense last year, largely without Eric Berry and with Derrick Johnson on IR after the first game.

We signed Tyvon Branch, drafted Peters and Nelson along with 2 impressive young inside backers and should be improved across the board, though...so that's nice.

What IS the status on Eric Berry?

Just got done with Chemo and some reports came out of Georgia that he had "beaten cancer" but there is doubt to their validity.

The Chiefs have an UDFA (Kenny Cook from Garner Webb) that beat Hodgkin's lymphoma a few years back...I'm betting he talks with Eric quite a bit.

I'm hoping they start him out on NFI and that he finds a way to return towards playoff time to give the team a boost, but tbh I doubt he returns before 2016 at the earliest...but that guy is a fighter, so who knows.

I'd LOVE to have the kid...even if that means losing 2 late first rounders and a big cap number each year. He is Alex Smiths realized ceiling, at a much younger age and would be perfect for Andy's system and in our locker room.

Hard to figure how we would fit him under the cap along with Alex, but parting ways with Alex after next year is possible...but not probable.

Who knows though...with Andy's magic, maybe we could get a 2 or 3 for Alex and move on to Wilson.

If he is gonna sign him to a LTD, his agent will want him to be paid starter money. He would be a fool to ask for less if he feels he's good enough to start.

No way in hell would I want a quarterback with so little confidence in his own abilities that he wouldn't gamble on himself and just request a 1 year prove it deal to try and earn a starter contract and instead would accept such a low amount.

There are backups making close to that much, bud.

You can't franchise him, either. That's cost prohibitive.

Sign to a LTD for starter $ or give him a 1 year prove it type deal and let him earn it.

Here's the real deal: the man has 105 career starts to his name (counting playoffs). Career averages: 17.9-29.8 (60.2%), 197.8 yards, 1.2 TD, 0.7 int, 83.4 QB rating.

5 career 300 yard games in 105 starts.

We know who he is. He's not going to change his stripes now. He is captain check-down and run. Having a deep threat isn't going to change that.

Cause the entire football universe would assume that's 1000 passing yards the way that post is typed out. Also, one loss against Indy greatly inflates those "3 game" stats. Want to know what kills all those stats in those SF games? His 3rd down conversion rates

Get used to duo threat quarterbacks.

The best arm talents go to baseball nowadays, where there are guaranteed contracts, less contact and not as much risk of long term health problems.

That trend started almost 10 years ago...just take a look at the quarterback classes over that time period.

http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/13332578/new-england-patriots-quarterback-tom-brady-nflpa-likely-come-short-court-challenge-roger-goodell-decision

Question: Will Brady succeed in court and stop the NFL from suspending him for four games?

Answer: No, Brady will not succeed. Although he enjoys top-of-the-line legal representation and his lawyers will file a brilliantly written lawsuit, his effort to stop the suspension is doomed. There are two reasons why: First, federal judges are reluctant to reconsider the rulings of arbitrators; second, Goodell produced a decision on Brady that is brilliantly reasoned, meticulously detailed, and well-written. Goodell's recitation of the evidence of the tampering with game balls is powerful, and his description of Brady's attempt at a cover-up is persuasive.

Q: Why are federal judges reluctant to reconsider an arbitrator's decision?

A: If federal judges were to offer reviews of arbitrator decisions made throughout the nation, their dockets soon would be filled with arbitration cases. Throughout American business and industry, there are agreements to submit disputes to arbitration. It is viewed as a less-costly and more-efficient way to resolve issues. It avoids the expense and the endless delays of litigation. An essential element of any arbitration is that it is final and cannot be reviewed.

Federal judges understand the theory behind arbitration, and they are already inundated with criminal cases and thousands of civil lawsuits. They know that an arbitrator has considered the evidence, and the judges do not want a second look at the evidence. Even when the arbitrator is totally wrong, most federal judges will not reconsider the ruling. In a notorious case involving former Los Angeles Dodgers baseball player Steve Garvey at the U.S. Supreme Court in 2001, the high court ruled that even when the arbitrator's decision is "improvident or even silly," it does "not provide a basis for a court to refuse to enforce" the arbitrator's decision.

They will. This has to do with contracts. He will gets his case heard.

For what its worth:

There is no guarantee Brady will get the injunction, according to Gabe Feldman, director of sports law at Tulane University. Feldman said Brady's team will have to successfully argue that the quarterback would be "irreparably harmed by not being allowed to play" in order to secure the injunction.

"(Brady has) a lot of obstacles to get back on the field and the key one is trying to get a quick release, and the quick release would have to come through an injunction," Feldman told NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano. "It's very difficult for anyone to get a court to grant an injunction -- very high standards -- and it's particularly high in this case where you'd be asking a judge to interfere with the Commissioner's internal decision."

Jets’ Sheldon Richardson arrested for fleeing cops at 143 mph

An hour after vowing to stay out of trouble, Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson was back in it.

Richardson, who is suspended for the first four games of the season after failing a drug test, was charged Thursday in Missouri with resisting arrest along with a variety of traffic violations for an incident that occurred on July 14.

According to the police report, Richardson was clocked doing 143 miles per hour in what police believe was a street race. When the police tried to pull over Richardson’s 2014 Bentley Silver Spur, he accelerated and tried to avoid the police. He pulled off I-64, turned off all of the vehicle’s lights and sped through a traffic light, according to the police.

Richardson eventually turned into a driveway and the officers told him, at gunpoint, to exit the vehicle because they saw him reach for something between his feet. Richardson complied, but police found a loaded semi-automatic handgun under the mat on the driver’s side. The officers also said they smelled marijuana in the vehicle. There were two adult males and a 12-year-old in the car.

Richardson was not charged for the gun or drugs. He was charged with resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor, and is punishable with up to one year in jail. Richardson has been ordered to appear in St. Charles County Circuit Court on Oct. 27.

The news of Richardson’s arrest came about an hour after Richardson met with reporters for the first time since his four-game suspension was handed down. An apologetic Richardson said he would not get into trouble again.

“I’m not a dope fiend. I can say no. I just chose not to,” Richardson said. “I was in a depressing time in my offseason. That’s just that. It’s that simple. But there’s money on the line. My money is worth more than some weed. It is what it is.”

If he finds his way into a starting role, would absolutely watch Eagles regular season games before the Broncos.

My cousin plays some mean pee-wee ball if you want some tape. It really gets interesting when they complete a pass. Riveting stuff.

I know you're Broncos through and through. You're better than this.
