Jay (Middletown, CT): Mort, I was at the Monday night game with NE domination of my Denver team. I spent $100 to watch 5 turnovers in 8 possesions!!! Is there any hope for Denver this season, Cutler isnt playing well either. Serneity now!!!!

SportsNation Chris Mortensen: First off, if Cutler had not injured the indeix finger on his throwing hand on the game's first play, it would have been a different game - the sorry Denver defense could have stayed on the sidelines longer and perhaps played with a lead. But that was a very pathetic performance.

Not Baja and I will explain. The original poster used a $ sign and Baja pays for everything in gold plated pesos.

Don't forget there are only 2 teams in baseball the Yanks and Sox. If you ask one of them to put a word in for you then you should be a shoe in to get hired.

Yet half this board are bitching about this so called regression of JC over the past few weeks.

Sure it had nothing to do with the fact that at least 50% of his reputable targets have been unnavailable over the last 2 games nor the fact that he suffered an injury to his throwing hand on our first play from scrimmage on Monday night.

Mort may well be ridiculed for stating the obvious but have a look at some posts on this site since Tuesday am and it maybe isn't obvious to a lot of our so called followers.

His targets don't make his decisions for him. He still decides to force the ball into double coverage. He did that when he had his tools box full in KC. Its not that he sucks its that he hasn't learned to be patient and has regressed. God the way people react its like we said he was a bust.

When they are limited they do.

Against the Jags he had Marshall for the full game and Stokley for a quarter.

Against the Patriots he had 2 receiving options for the full game.

How does that not limit your options and force you to focus on those targets especially when you're behind in both games???

Of course it's going to affect your play when you're comparing it to games when all those options were available, SD and NO.

A little disheartening to know that every week we are but one banged finger away from annihilation.

How do you figure? Marshall and Royal, right? In 2 WR sets their are only 2 WR. He can't throw to the guys on the sideline. In 3 WR sets their was a 3rd WR in the game, D Jax for example. Sometimes the TE (N Jackson or Graham) were options. I don't get how his options were limited. Sure we'd like to have Stoke out there but we're not the only team with injuries. The Cardinals have been without Boldin, who's a Pro Bowler, for a few weeks and they've been okay. We didn't have Brandon week 1 and Jay had his best game. His "lack of options" are a very small part of the problem.

Well, I think Nate might be in Jay's dog house, he's had a couple drops this year, and DJack is horse****. Glad to see we're throwing to Graham more though. So yeah, right now I think his progression goes: Marshall, Eddie, run for life.

I agree. Jay has thrown some bad passes but it is not regressing. It happens everywhere. Eli won a SB and he had a bad three pick game and they are calling him garbage. Fans are too fickle. Ride your team out through thick and thin!

What worried me is that heck when we started running the ball people get hurt.

I sure hope hope that Torian plays well and that Pitt is ok after his banged up ribs!

Not so much regressing, as he stopped progressing.

In the off season, he and the coaches talked about ball security, and how they worked with him all off season on checking down to the underneath receivers and being willing to take the short passes and move the chains.

I remember an interview, where Cutler said that making the short passes wasn't fun, but he finally realized that looking for the underneath guys and moving the chains was the key, and that would open up the deep ball.

In the first three games, he did a good job of 'moving the chains'. The last four games, where his turnovers have soared, and his passer rating has plummeted, he has once again started trying to force the ball to covered receivers and deep, when there are underneath receivers open.

Hopefully, they will use the bye week to review film and get him back on track. The way he was coming into the season, after an off season and training camp where they focused him on ball security and moving the chains.

I sure hope you guys are joking. Maybe my sarcasm meter is a little off, but if you are serious you might want to go back and evaluate his career at Vandy. A sissy Jay is not.

Well, you're making some good points Eddie. 3 L's in the last 4 games is not all on Jay. He's certainly contributed to the slide, though. 5 INT's and a lost fumble in the last 4 games is not stellar stuff.

And, to set the record straight, an INT on third down is most definitely not "better than a punt."

But it's certainly true that these are entire team losses. ST's not gaining much field position, 20+ yd plays galore being given up by the D, fumblitis striking Marshall & Hall.
