Well they where coming up with a new policy there and one of the three options, which they said where leaning heavily and was favored, was just banning people they deemed offensive. People there just don't want to hear opposing viewpoints and consider them basically offensive.

Spider started a thread called, IIRC, "Republicans hate democracy" and after reading all the garbage about Obama/Dems/liberals/blacks etc. are commies, baby killers, terrorists etc. you get the point, so I posted this with the following caption:

In terms of money, I think I would rather have his than O'Reileys. In terms of political views, I don't like any zealots, and Rush is one of the biggest.

I will admit, that back in the mid or late 90's, I used to listen to Rush here or there when I was driving during the day and he was on, but I don't think I have listened to one of his shows in 10 years or so. I have no idea what Rush even alks about these days, although I would assume it is some form of liberal bashing.

I'm just sending one PM and I will make it short and sweet.

You guys have posted in a way that has made the politics forum worse, rather than better.

Can I get a definition of what this means. Very vague and subjective, not to mention obtuse.

That's the bottom line. When, or if, your bans are lifted (see the thread in P&R for the lengths of each ban), please re-read the stickied threads in the politics forum outlining behavior that isn't acceptable.

I did, please give specific examples where I (and more importantly others) have violated this "stickied threads in the politics forum outlining behavior that isn't acceptable", more importantly where this alleged violation can be reviewed historically and objectively for judicious and fairness application.

Bottom line, if your posting doesn't add to the community, you will be suspended.

Please define this statement, because this is a capricious sentence.

In the meantime, feel free to post in the non-politics areas of the message board.

Full disclosure, the "Suspension from politics forum" notice did have the following as recipients: El Minion, Npba900, Shazam!, Spider.

I will say as an infrequent poster at either Bronco fan boards, this can be interpreted as a feather in my cap. But in reality, it is an an indictment of BroncoForums alleged objectivity (read: Tned and his Mod's). Shazam as the only Republican violator is a farce. You know it Tned.

I've got to give Taco a lot of credit for the hands off WRP forum here.

I've been to several other political boards, spent about a day or two and promptly left. They are almost invariably close minded one sided centres for talking points discussions. I'm sure there are other good ones out there but IMO this place has a pretty lively debate with people from both sides of the aisle. More left leaning than conservative - though I think that may represent a shift in popular opinion more than just a skewed board demographic.

I guess that's the kind of thing that happens when libertarians are in charge :thumbs:

The point is, just show some integrity with your members and tell them up front, that your political forum has strict conservative standards and unsustainable rules, and open minded opinions will not be tolerated!! Nor will attacking and insulting posters personally will be allowed, unless of course its the conservative members doing the attacking and insulting.

Just remember this, moderators can't be control freaks, you do so at the expense of loosing your diversified audience and only end up with a Robotic Audience.

However, if this is your true intent, of narrowing the audience and the debate of your politics forum, just keep doing what you're doing, eventually you'll get the audience you've been seeking.

That is not the truth. First, many of the "liberals" are there because some of
us originally went out of our way to invite them so we could have meaningful
dialogue and debate there.

Second, we go out of our way to protect our posters from personal attack,
regardless of political or religious persuasion. Our concern is the post, not
the poster, and we do it in consideration of our Rules and Guidelines, and in
that only.

Third, not all of the moderators are "right wing," regardless of the image some
of the allusions brought here by posters we have banned. Anubis and Den21
are certainly not right wing, nor am I (my beliefs concern moral issues, not
political, the latter of which I disagree with both sides, and I seldom, if ever,
argue them on the board). Concerning the rest of the staff, we have held
long, meaningful discussions in the Mods' discussion forum regarding not
allowing our personal beliefs to interfere with our moderating.

Fact is, we moderate P&R far more tightly over there then they do over here.
And that is fine in both cases. We are two different types of discussion
boards that attract two different types of posters. (Some like both.) And
that is okay, too . . . it makes a nice co-existence. It also does not make
one better than the other.

One thing different, however: You will not see a thread such as this about
the Mane, or any other Broncos board, because we don't like that, and the
posters know it. Someone might snipe here and there (but not by Mods . . .
Tned would be all over us for that), but we will not allow a trashing of this
board over there, such as we are witnessing here. But that is there; if it is
allowed here, that's fine, too. This board has its rules and policies, and we
have ours.

When we are over here, we abide by the rules over here. When you are over
there, the rules change to ours. It seems a couple posters from here never
realized that. Therein lies the whole problem as we're discussing it. The
problem is not ours. It belongs to them who do not understand that when you
go under someone else's umbrella, you abide by their rules. Period.

I think said a different way, like many of our mothers told us, "it's not what you say, but how you say it."

Nobody is banned for being too far in either direction, what I think OB meant was that some people get so caught up in far left or right zealotry, that they lose all perspective and the ability to follow the forum rules and post in a civil manner.

NOBODY has ever been banned (as as OB said, the list is very short compared to most forums -- and we publish EVERY ban, so that there is complete transparency) for holding a view in one direction or another.

For instance, we have one poster who has posted emphatically that the US Government (Bush) trained and hired the 9/11 bombers, to blow up the WTC, so that we would have an excuse to go into Iraq (yes, I know a few of you believe that, too). Most Americans consider that an absurd view, and she is a highly liberal, Obama supporter. She has never been banned for these views.

Nobody has ever been banned for their views, contrary to what BS has been spewed here by a couple morons, people have only been banned for breaking the rules, and disrupting the message board.

Ok, now, take as much of that out of context as you would like, and twist it. The MO for a few folks here is well established. The sad thing is that you guys give the Mane a bad rep, because most people on this message board aren't like the idiots whining about Spider and El Minion being banned, or about 24champs' anal porn being deleted.

It's wierd to see the toilet scrubbers of the other truck stop (metaphorically speaking) in my bathroom, explaining their policies, but so be it. It's not how I would handle the situation, but it's one way to do it.

As for this place, I aint scrubbing any toilets, but I do have the keys to the bathroom. If too much **** gets on the walls and it starts stinking the entire joint up, I'll just lock it up. I expect people here to take pride in their forum and do their part to keep things semi-civil.

For the most part, people here keep it reasonable - for the most part. Occassionally, I've got to punch someone in the throat. Maybe once or twice a year...

While I have not posted here as much as on BF or Mania, I have been a member here since '04, and have always lurked, just not posted much (long before I became a toilet scrubber). Maybe I have looked at it wrong, but I have considered ALL of the Broncos boards my home, because I am a Broncos fan first. That's why I don't bash other Broncos message boards and do my best to support other Broncos sites the best I can, whether by links, letting them post 'adverts' in their sigs, or supporting them in other means. It's the reason I had no problem when so many Maners came to our server during the "server meltdown of '08" as some here refer to it. Even telling our mods to use a different set of rules with the Maners while they were using us as a temporary shelter, because they were used to a more "anything goes" approach.

So, I guess I didn't think of it as invading your truck stop. I routinely check posts here, mostly for Broncos news, but do so by hitting "New posts", so I wind up seeing some of the Tned and Broncos Forums bashing that sometimes can be common place here (something we discourage -- bashing other boards, such as the mane -- at our truck stop). Therefore, when a handful of morons post lies on this board, which I am also a member of, i didn't see anything wrong with responding.

If you don't feel I should be a member here or post, because somehow I am the competition, rather than a fellow Broncos fan, I will by all means stop logging in here. It's your truck stop -- your rules.

I can relate with what you're going through. I have seen O-Mane bashing on other forums before - including bashing of me by people who I respected. What I found was that you can't stop it, and the more you try to, the worse it gets. Like the old saying goes, what you resist persists.

I'm not saying you can't post here to defend yourself. You're more than welcome to. I'm just saying, I don't see what it's going to accomplish, other than cut grooves into people's minds that will run contrary to what it is you are trying to achieve.

I probably shouldn't have said anything. I hate to inject myself into these kinds of quarrels. Trying to moderate a political forum is like trying to scrub truck stop toilets. You can scrub all you want, but in an hour they're just going to be dirty again.

It's wierd to see the toilet scrubbers of the other truck stop (metaphorically speaking) in my bathroom, explaining their policies, but so be it. It's not how I would handle the situation, but it's one way to do it.

As for this place, I aint scrubbing any toilets, but I do have the keys to the bathroom. If too much **** gets on the walls and it starts stinking the entire joint up, I'll just lock it up. I expect people here to take pride in their forum and do their part to keep things semi-civil.

For the most part, people here keep it reasonable - for the most part. Occassionally, I've got to punch someone in the throat. Maybe once or twice a year...
