View Full Version : If you could add one player from another team to the Broncos, who would it be?

Would you shore up the safety position with a guy like Troy Polamalu or Kerry Rhodes? What about a dominant middle linebacker like Patrick Willis or Brian Urlacher? Perhaps you want a cog in the middle like Albert Haynesworth or Kevin Williams. Or maybe you'd like a pass-rushing beast like Justin Tuck or Mario Williams. Do you want another top corner like Nnamdi Asomugha or Rasheen Mathis? How about a stud back like Adrian Peterson or Clinton Portis? If you could take one player off another team and put them on the Broncos right now, who would it be?

Hmm, if it was a perfect world where no one has attitude problems or motivation issues, i'd say Haynesworth. If it was a perfect world where no one gets hurt I'd say Bob Sanders or Polamalu. As it stands....AD.
*edit* Wow I forgot about Mario Williams, epic fail on me :( Now it's a toss up between him or AD for me.

Give me Justin Tuck, Troy P, Bob Sanders, and Albert Haynesworth. Then we Might have a middle of the pack D. With Slowick in charge, we would still probably be bottom 10.
No one player would add half a din-a-ling to this _efense .

We need a verbal leader in the middle to provide heart and strength. Absolutely no one in charge of the defense getting people fired up. Hell I'd seriously consider Al Wilson sitting in a rocking chair out there than the mess they have in the middle now. God do I (and the Broncos) miss Al....

I say we start bringing in whoever they threw away this year.
Every halftime we're behind we cut a player ON THE SPOT in the locker room in front of everyone. (Do we really need to waste time on halftime adjustments... they're not working anyway)
Then announce who will be brought in from the Titans trash pile. Hell, place the call to the guy(s) sitting at home on speaker phone so the whole team can hear the invitation.
Give the cut player his game check and tell him to find his own way home.
Then play the second half.
If we lose the game then pick two players and let them fight it out before they hit the showers to see who keeps their job.
If we lost both the first half and the game... throw in a sacrificial coach staff at some level and let the two players kick the crap out of him before fighting each other.

I don't know, man... check out the Titan's D when Haynesworth is out of the line-up. They're a different team.
I'd say that one dominant DT or DE could absolutely make a big difference.... maybe not in a game like Monday Night's, but in a game like the prior week (Jax) .... a dominant D-linemen could have absolutely made a difference.

Thats the problem. This d is beyond repair. You need to throw the whole thing out and start over, everyone. With the said call me crazy but I want a running back with balls so at least the offense could be consistent.

I say Bob Sanders. I have never seen one player make a difference like he does when he plays. I live in Indiana, so I see Colts crap a lot. The defense sucks almost as much as the Broncos when he is out, but they are top 10 with him. Maybe he could do the same for Denver. Only problem is he's hurt too much.

I'd go with Michael Turner on offense and/or Ray Lewis on defense. His skills are not what they were but he'll personally strangle anyone who gives less than their all--an Al Wilson type. What this defense lacks first and foremost, is heart and a true leader.

Broncos' defense in free fall following CB Bailey's injury
By Dan Parr
Oct. 23, 2008
<!-- Start Inform sidebar --><!-- START -- TEMP TEST OF INFORM DB EXTRACT --><!-- END -- TEMP TEST OF INFORM DB EXTRACT --><!-- End Inform sidebar --><!-- End Inform sidebar -->Open the floodgates. The Broncos' defense was constantly on its heels even before Champ Bailey suffered a groin injury, which will keep him out for the next 4-6 weeks. Offenses mostly stayed away from throwing toward Bailey's side of the field. He's one of the few true shutdown corners around. Now that he will be sidelined for the foreseeable future, the whole field will open for Denver's opposition. “They're not going to be able to stop anybody,” one close observer of the team said. Bailey not only takes away a significant portion of the field vs. the pass, but he also is one of the team's best tacklers and is extremely valuable in run support. In his absence, sources say rookie Jack Williams, a fourth-round pick, will move into the starting lineup opposite Dré Bly, who has helped the Broncos' opposition complete passes at a stunning 72.9 percent clip.
Right now I would take anyone that could knock down a pass!! With 72.9 percent completion percentage you would think we were playing Steve Young every week.
Beantown Bronco

the Broncos' opposition complete passes at a stunning 72.9 percent clip.
I remember hearing that the accepted percentage for completed passes, if there was no defense contesting balls on the field and guys just ran their routes, that the completion percentage would be around 80%. The 20% would take into account misfires, dropped balls and throws out of bounds, etc.
So putting our 11 guys out there is only yielding a 7% or so better rate of incompletions than not having anyone out there at all. Unreal.
